Great to see you're back 👍 . Shame about the problem, why can't you claim on the Seiko warranty and get it fixed? I have just spent £140 on a Heimdallr turtle homage from AliExpress and I am very impressed, it has sapphire, ceramic bezel, 300m water resistance and a Seiko NH35. I didn't choose it over the Seiko Turtle, because of the price though, I just really don't like the day display or the dial and hands on the original.
Hi mate! Y'know I just didn't think of that! It's something I should definitely look into. Thanks for the advice! And a great buy with that Heimdallr - they do make some quality pieces! 😃👍
Always glad to see your videos as they are simply terrific. I like the new intro and logo too. These Seikos are absolutely awesome watches. Sorry this one is not manually winding... obviously parts / gears are misaligned and or broken causing crown to rotate with no winding action. Any proficient watch maker/repair tech should be able to easily repair. Their only concern they may raise is that the cost of the repair may be high in relation to the cost / value of the watch. In the meantime as Russ from The Mad Watch Collector says keep doing the Seiko Shuffle... good luck with this one my friend. Hope you have a wonderful weekend 👍👏🙌
Thank you Rafael! I was surprised the guy in my home town wouldn’t even offer to look at it 🤷♂️. Great watch nonetheless. Have a fab weekend too my friend 😀👍👊
Nice review, as always mate!👍🏻 Seems you have been pretty unlucky with that issue regarding the handwinding. You could certainly have a go at fixing this yourself, but it does involve dismantling a fair part of the watch. If you are looking to have a go yourself, then it’s the perfect movement to try it with. If you really mess up ( worst case scenario of course!) then you could simply replace the whole movement with an NH36. This is basically just an unbranded 4R36 and not very expensive. Anyway, good luck if you decide to have a go!👍🏻😄
Thanks Chris! I did check out NH36 prices not long ago. I think the prices have gone up quite a bit, but if I do have a go and screw it up - there is definitely that option! 😃👍
I had the same thing on my King Turtle where the hand-wind doesn’t work. I’m honestly fine with it. It still hacks so no biggie. I’ll replace the movement at some point. Great video sir! 🔥🔥🔥
The stem was cut fractionally too short at the factory and isn't engaging with the winding wheel. You'll likely find if you can get and fit a second hand stem and crown that'll solve the issue.
Great review as always mate ☺ As with the non hand wind it could be a simple fix. It could be as simple as the crown stem isn't pushed home into the gears.if I were local to Wocester I'd happily take a look at for you.
That's extremely nice of you to say! Thanks mate 🙏. I have removed the stem (no damage to it) and obviously re-inserted it - with no difference. I'm sure you're exactly right though - something just isn't engaging properly. I'll post an update if I do get it resolved. Thanks again and take care 😃🙏👍
Hello Sir get you.........Love the new intro and Logo "cracking" I would be looking at selling merch next with a logo like that....? Anyway good to have you back with another slick and very professional review love the watch and the history lesson for the Seiko 5 guess what I am looking at for my next purchase. I am thinking may be due to the price they may be seconds from the factory with the same manufactured or assembly issue? Have you tried to see if any other buyers off Amazon have suffered the same issue. Have you looked at modding or customizations websites for the Seiko's. One thing I have done in the past is when I travel to Europe I take my watches to those little watch shops that still exist with great prices for service and repair so much cheaper. Looking forward to the next one Cheers Josh.
Hi Josh! Hope you're well good sir. Great comments there (and thanks for your kind words). I haven't found any other examples of this fault, nor have I explored the mod sites - which is something I'll definitely now do! We're hopefully off the Amsterdam sometime soon - I'll be sure to check out all the watch shops and repairers when we go. Thanks again mate and take care 😃👍👍👍

I have just bought one of these. I thought the handwinding wasn’t working at first but as I kept trying I realised there was something going on as I could feel it in my fingers very lightly.
Great video shootings and analysis. I wonder about the position of the lower strap( the ones with holes). You keep it with the smooth side out. Is that more comfortable to you or because of the look?
You could try taking the crown and stem out and put them back in and see if they make proper contact? Very easy no need to take the movement out etc loads of videos on youtube on how to do it
Good advice from the watch repair man. It would cost a load of money to open it, and you would have to replace the whole movement.. at which point you'd be better off returning it and buying one full price.
Great video Nigel. It's such a detailed review and gives some great insights to someone looking to buy....it's such a shame the manual winding doesn't work. Luckily for me, I got the SRPD63K1 (a lovely green dial aka 'the hulk') and it's working well. I think you should return it and try to buy during another sale period. Cheers mate!
Very good and fun review on this wonderful Seiko model that resembles the iconic SKX007. I am very interested in purchasing it and would like to know about your personal experience regarding the accuracy of this model?
Hi Tiago! Thanks for your kind words, my friend 👐 I haven't worn it lately, but I'm wearing it today and I've now registered it on the Toolwatch ap. I'll report back tomorrow regarding its actual accuracy 😀👍
Impressive accuracy!! ... I just bought my SRPD73K2 and it is wonderful and in person it is even more beautiful! I'm noticing that its dial is not black as I thought it would be... it seems to be a bit brown, but it's beautiful, I'm very happy. 😁
@@tiagogardino I get what you mean. I think it depends on the lighting. When it catches the light, the shine does make it look a bit more brown perhaps? Glad you like it anyway - I'm wearing mine again today, and it is a stunning watch! 😀👍
Dude, where was the health warning at the start?! I still haven't gotten over Eastenders and Brookside changing their opening music! Your old opening would make a great phone ring tone. Can you post it online somewhere. Cheers from Canada.
Hi John! Well I've never had anyone ask me that before! 😄 Thought it was time for a general update regarding the intro 😁. Hope all's well in Canada 😃👍👍👍
Nice piece for the money that. I would just run it until it needs a service and then get that little issue sorted. It’s not like you haven’t got any watches to wear is it now 😂😂😂😂
As I say in the video - I couldn't return it for a replacement, as they didn't have any more at the time! I could have got a refund but I decided to keep it. Works fine after a couple of shakes 👍
Well, the fact that this should hand wind? Or have I got that wrong 🤷♂️. I have an almost identical model that hand winds. But I have read that hand winding is an option on the 4R36 movement. What do you say?
Cool new opening titles & graphics, cool new logo, good content as usual and still that good sense 😉 of humour Sir WG. Top Class! ☮💜💪🏾
