I had a book with pictures of oriental rugs so I scanned them into my computer and printed them off to make paper rugs that can be glued to dollhouse floors but watching you video made me realize I can print these rugs off on the printer onto iron-on paper then choose a fabric to iron on the image of the rug.
what a great idea!! I didn't even know such thing existed! :) thank you!
I have been thinking a lot lately about making a woven or rag type of mini rug and have driven myself nuts looking at different loose weave materials/fabrics to accomplush what I have in mind. This is one of those head slapping moments, because I hadn't even thought of burlap! 🤦🏼♀️ Both of your rugs look so great! Thank you for this helpful video!!❤️
haha thank you, I think I accidentally came across a piece of burlap when filming this video, I had so much trouble coming up with a good idea for a rug :D good luck with your project!!
Oooh, love how you used that burlap! Might have been time-consuming but it was totally worth it 😍❤️👏👏👏
Ohh THAT'S what it's called 😀 thank you haha😍🥰
Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you, Sandra! :)
I love the burlap as well! Might take more time, but it's a lovely rug and talk about color options!! THANK YOU for sharing!!

Beautiful! You are way more patient than I am.
❤😆
thank you, Renee :D haha, not always, sometimes I want to throw away what I'm making at the moment :D
@@minihappyart Until it turns out so beautifully, right? I'm a novice crafter so actually spend hours on pretty basic stuff- but it's so exciting when the end result looks great! I'm working on a mini bedroom for a five-year old so a simpler rug is more appropriate.
Take care.
❤️
@@reneedoiron7560 that's right! :D oh, I'd love too see your room when it's finished! You could mail me the photos maybe :) good luck on your project!
@@minihappyart Sure! And thanks! Just a few more details to add.
@@reneedoiron7560 yayy, can't wait :D
I LOVE the woven rug! This is just what I was looking for to recreate my grandma’s old rugs she had in her house! Thank you from Texas!

Hi,
First of all, thanks for sharing.
I have a question; can we also use the ironing method on burlap? Even if the pattern is not very obvious, do you think the same process would work on burlap? Also, what exactly is the paper you use for ironing?
Thank you in advance.
Hi, I haven't tried that, but I think it might work if the glue is strong enough! But why do you want to use this method? Burlap is quite sturdy, so it should hold quite well! If you give it a try, please let me know if it worked! The name of the paper is fusible interfacing:)
Would washing your fabric rug give it an aged look? Before all the colouring and shading you did?
I think it depends on the fabric :) I guess you would have to wash it a few times and scrape it a bit as well!
Brilliant ❤
thank you!! :)
Very pretty, the colorful one is my favourite but they're both cute! I don't have interfacing though, can I use something else?
Thank you so much ❤ you can omit it altogether or just use a stiffer fabric, or two layers of fabric :) the interfacing will just make it lay nicely and it will be easier to draw on it.
@@minihappyart Thank you for the advice 💕 I will definetly try!
@@LindaMarani good luck!!
Toż to dywan Aladyna!!!
Tak jest :D sama się zdziwiłam, że lata!
Your time was worth it
thank you, so glad you think so! :D (haha the first time I read "your time was NOT worth it" :D )
Very cute!! Using burlap for weaving is such a good idea! I wonder if it would work for micro cross stitch designs too... Did you also glue the edges of the embroidery floss to keep it from fraying/slipping out?
I didn't but it would've been such I good idea, thanks for the suggestion! I just rolled it between my fingers or wet it a bit to prevent it from fraying. And at the end I treated it with glue along with the burlap :) I guess it could work for micro cross stitch but it can move around a bit, but if you give it a go, please let me know how it went :D
