My Chinese husband and I also met at Fudan University 😍 2012 when he was a student and I was an assistant teacher 😏 now married for 3 years, our son is 10 month old.
OMG--My husband and I have almost the same story. I am from US and he is from Xiamen. I speak no Chinese but he can manage to speak few English words. We met unexpectedly when I was lost and separated from the rest of our group in Chengdu. He was very kind to help me and we managed to figure out things through a translator app in our phone. WeChat became our lifeline even after I went back to US. I remember those awkward phone calls that we don't really know what to say :) My husband works in Hongkong and he did his best to take English classes so that we can talk better. I am also working to learn Mandarin although my progress is not comparable to his in English. I can relate when your husband asked himself in another video "why he married a foreigner that he has to deal with many documents and a whole lot of things that are often not easy?" My husband had those moments too but I am always grateful that he never had thought of giving up our relationship. I have my challenges but my husband's are bigger and harder compared to mine. Regardless, he would always tell me that he can take those challenges for me and our children. Looking back to where we started and seeing your story, I can't still fully grasp the power of love to endure and surpass barriers and I am always grateful that i am blessed with the day I met my husband. Ours is also a work in progress as we continuously figure things out between US and China and I am grateful that there are apps that become our tools to thrive. Thank you for sharing your story and from our family to yours, we wish you the best of life!
I love how she describes how she felt when she first saw him. She knew she had met her soul mate. It's cool how they fell in love not speaking the same language and both being shy. Beautiful love story!
Mili really has a good eye, he is probably the cutest dude in all China, and she got him! And they didn’t bother about race, age or class, or wealth, or education. Their love is beyond all these. It’s amazing that one may have to travel to the other side of the world to find one’s soul mate.

Your husband is truly a gem, and we are all happy to see you are together.
Hello Miriam, a nice story and video. I am an HK Chinese and also married an Engish girl and we have 2 boys and been married for 32 years! There has been some small cultural differences but time has flown by. My best wishes for the future.
This is heartwarming. Loved hearing your love story. I've been married 20 years now to my college sweetheart. International couple is only good when it's a white person lol never a black or coloured woman as its looked down upon and discriminated on. So hypocritical
@Yang Hong Most people simply love to casually generalize and stereotype us Asians, sometimes even in a blatantly racist manner. We are never seen as individuals with our own unique characteristics, personality and beliefs. To them, it's like we are all mass produced in factories in batches with one setting. You can see it everywhere on social media. For e.g: if an Asian displays outstanding guitar skills? It's because he is Asian. Devaluing all the hard work and effort to get to that level, simply chalking it all up to his skin for the achievement. If a video of an Asian man being an asshole to his partner goes viral, the comments will be full of "Asians are so misogynistic. It's in their blood". If a similar video of a Western man abusing his partner goes viral, nobody will generalize all White/Black/Hispanic or other race's men like that and the general attitude will be "the action of an individual does not reflect the community or ethnicity". Which, is the right attitude to have but that goes out the window when Asians are involved. It doesn't take much to search IR couples with black/colored woman and a lot will pop up but nah.
Senzuu what makes you say this? This story- not the colour, race or ethnicity is the beautiful thing. Overcoming such obstacles as language and culture barriers is amazing.

Hi Miriam! Great to hear about your story. I'm Spanish and my husband is from Shandong, China. Such an attractive and kind couple, you guys go so well together. I think there are a lot of similarities in Scandinavian and Chinese cultures. They are all very polite and mild mannered. ❤️

You guys are so cute! I just watched this entire video and wow. 💕 The way he cupped your face... and how perfect you both are for each other. I hope you both have an amazing future together!
My husband is French and I speak very little. The hardest part for us is when we are visiting his family and I am left out of the conversations at his families dinner table. After being married for 3 years, I’ll take classes to learn French since I am almost done with graduate school... takes time and effort to learn a new language.
Dude 3 years together and you only start to learn now? All I can say is that happiness takes effort. If you want to learn a language you need to put in a lot of time and work. Bonne chance!

Hi, Miriam. I was crying during the whole video because I saw myself in you. I can completely relate to the times when you saw every perfect moment as 'romantic', because it's what I tend to think, too, with the guys I have loved. You are beautiful and so is your soul. Your enthusiasm radiates and it really shows how pure your love is, and it is cute. 😊 How fragile of me to cry over your story. I wish I could encounter something like this, too. I hopw you and your husband grow old together and share many more memories along the way. I send my sincerest wishes ❤
So glad to read your story, wish you and your family full of happiness and love. I am from countryside of China, and lives in NewYork. It is challenging to live in countryside of China but you made it fun and meaningful.
In Los Angeles, many, many years ago, one of my favorite restaurants was a chinese/swedish buffet run by a chinese husband and swedish wife. It was great. The food was fabulous.
(Maybe a longer comment, but I really love your video) I feel so touched by this romantic love story. Flying across the half of the planet to find your soul mate is not only romantic but also very brave and respectful. I like your courageous and determination to work on your relationship. Love should be like this I just exactly love the way you are, no matter where you are from and who you are. There's no perfect match in the world but you really need to work on your relationship, nourish it. Believing in love can defeat and conquer anything, then love will show you the way. Your story also reminds me of my own. I met my cute boyfriend in Swiss during a solo trip whereas we were both living in the Netherlands. We were born and raised in China. It is sort of finding the other half of yourself by flying across the planet. It is so unbelievable and magical! Wish your eternal happiness with family in my forever beloved motherland China.

Your story is sooooo cuteee 🥰 Always wondered how you guys met😊 Edit: Had to laugh out loud that one thought it was a business relationship and the other thought it was a romantic gesture 😄 Classic.
That’s such a beautiful love story! Thank you for sharing with us. I too met my husband from a different country and different culture. That makes this world a beautiful place to be.
Your husband is really very typically traditional Chinese man. At first place , he didn't concider to dating or fall love with you ,but just want to know the difference between a Chinese and foreigner. It's very interesting.
My relationship with my ex (a foreigner) didn't go so well, so I began to questioning about international marriage, it's very difficult because there are language barrier, culture differences and other things. But you guys are just so cute together. You managed to grow love even though you could barely communicate properly in the beginning. You two are the first international couple I find sweet on RUclips honestly.
It's about willingness to be together... You can be from the same culture but your values are very different, your own family cultures are different and this is heightened in an international relationship. I hope you'll find a good partner. ✨🙏😊
Watching this video makes me remember my encounter with a Chinese guy. I met him a year ago during my solo travel and asked me if he can add me up as a friend. I said yes and said I got messenger. He asked if I was using google apps only. I said yes. ( I got wechat but I don’t have friends there and hasn’t used the app for more than a year) Later after we parted, I realized that he was a very nice man coz he’s so down to earth and even paid my taxi fare. I regret not adding him up. I was thinking that there is no point of getting in contact with someone whom I’ll never meet again. I learned a lesson from this experience.
What a wonderful story!!! ❤❤❤ You are correct, he has an amazing smile, but so do you! My own family is diverse, but they figured out how to communicate and learned each other's languages.
Met my wife in Chicago, USA. She was there taking care of son. We went out every weekend for a month then she went back to Guangzhou to take care of daughter for summer break. We continued to talk on qq thru the summer and she finally invited me to visit her. Two weeks later she took me shopping, this included the jewelry area which we just walked through. After leaving she commented you not look at any jewelry, why? I said I didn't need to, brought with me, which she didn't understand. Next morning she came to my apartment and I explained better by taking out the ring, getting on a knee and proposing. We were married in the USA 2 months later. Now I am retired living in Guangzhou raising our grandson. Today I bought an e-bike so guess I am here for the duration 😊. Love your videos
But Robert what happened to your English :) Or are you just overwhelmed and make a lot of mistakes while tiping? Beautiful story anyways! My husband and I got married, althought 25 years ago our nationa were at war...
What a beautiful love story! 💖 Fudan University, an Ivy League Schools in China, is a wonderful setting. To read this love story from a Buddhist perspective ☸(which rejected the idea of fate or existence of a Creator God), strong past karmic connections between consciousness(es) is powerful. We subconsciously find something familiar from the deep past attractive and safe, and make our choices. Chance plays a role, but the latent potential of shared attraction (i.e. interests & curiosity) can be hard to resist. "Karma" works on both probability & inevitability. Despite all the hurdles and improbability: distance between Swedan & China, cultural upbringing, language barrier, ethnicity, shyness, temperament, sporadic meetings, miscommunication, etc, love conquers all. Needless to say the beautiful baby also has strong karmic connection to both parents. Best wishes to your family. 🙏
I'm writing 3 years after your comment: I read today that China has 7 of the top 100 universities in the world. The rise of China and degree to which literally millions have been lifted out of poverty is truly remarkable, and all in a comparatively short time. I'm no communist, but a government that truly cares about the well being of its citizens can achieve a great deal.
@@margaretcaine4219 Chinese politicians might be Communist Party members but these days they consider themselves socialist with Chinese characteristics. i.e. uniquely Chinese. Those who live in "the west" should judge the merit of forms of government systems based on how much they improve the lives of their people, rather than misleading labels, such as democracy vs authoritarianism. All political systems have pros and cons. Measured by performance in the last 40 years, China is the "A" student in the class. The rest barely score the "C".

We had the same friends, so when we were out together and talked just with hand and feet and some broken words, everybody was like
How can you understand each other
But it worked and almost three years later, he came to Germany and lives with me together now 😊
I introduce to you Uyen and her German boyfriend!
Sweet story
You guys are so cute! I just watched this entire video and wow. 💕 The way he cupped your face... and how perfect you both are for each other.
I hope you both have an amazing future together!
you also very cute, so you have wechat number? :D
Son of RUclips lol
This is SOOOOO sweet. Language is never a barrier. You guys are so cute! 提前拜个年~ 新年快乐❤️
My husband is French and I speak very little. The hardest part for us is when we are visiting his family and I am left out of the conversations at his families dinner table. After being married for 3 years, I’ll take classes to learn French since I am almost done with graduate school... takes time and effort to learn a new language.
Bonjour Marie
Im learning arabic and let me tell you it’s much more difficult 😭😭
Dude 3 years together and you only start to learn now? All I can say is that happiness takes effort. If you want to learn a language you need to put in a lot of time and work. Bonne chance!
Keep it up Marie Thorogood. Thank you for making such effort.
@@greyLeicester Since she said she's in grad school. So, I believe that takes her priority. Some of us don't have the ability/gift to absorb & master many different things at the same time.
He is so handsome!!
Miriam You are so lucky to have such a handsome man. 😊😊😊
She is lucky and he is lucky too
And he is very lucky to have such a beautiful wife!
@无忌唯一_nothing but all OK哈哈哈哈哈哈
He truly is
I can see the love in their eyes... so happy for you two!!
So glad to read your story, wish you and your family full of happiness and love. I am from countryside of China, and lives in NewYork. It is challenging to live in countryside of China but you made it fun and meaningful.
you guys are such a sweet couple! I can see the happiness on your face!
In Los Angeles, many, many years ago, one of my favorite restaurants was a chinese/swedish buffet run by a chinese husband and swedish wife. It was great. The food was fabulous.

I had a smile on my face the whole video. Love you and your family!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! 🙏
I am so happy you posted this!! I saw your story of how you met on someone else's channel and was so touched! You two are amazing together! ❤
This is so sweet the way the guy looked at her in the beginning was everything
You two are so cute
Like your story
I think that you're a perfect couple. Your baby boy is now a toddler. He is so cute.
Yall are so cute I wanna cry!! I wish you lots of happiness in the future.
The disposition of this couple.. So soft-spoken, so sweet
As a swedish girl, also falling in love with an asian man during my studies abroud I can relate :) In my case he tried to sell me a program for personal training at the gym where I went in Indonesia haha... we lived toghether some years in Jakarta before moving to Stockholm and now we are living here in Sweden. Thank you for a warm and cute love story 🥰🥰
Dear God, this is so romantic! And sooo funny. "I think I'm fall in love, but you just wanna sell GouJi"😂
Lol!!!
I'm feeling so touched by their love story.
Love can be so simple, can even start from Wechat translating, but still super romantic.
We might be expecting too much on the form of love and have forgotten the essence.
What a great comment💚💚💚
He's so handsome. If she didn't go after him, I would have. Or tons of other people would have gone after him.
WRO really?I wonder where are you from ^^
@@yanyan_taiwanchina I was just teasing. I don't speak Chinese.
Haha... true, he's probably the handsomest dude in the village! 🤣
It is a warm video. I am actually a person who from a city that is close to Qinhai and a person who live in Sweden right now. I so proud of you married with this kind guy. Good luck.
What a beautiful and romantic relationship which started from a simple and warm smile. And they are saying that there is no freedom in China! What the heck haters of this country???
Oh wow this was very very well done .... between the subtitles Miriam speaking and her sweet husband speaking and the video threading it all together with you darling beautiful baby .... wow I was so moved your love story was so touching ... thank you
God bless you.
Two pure souls find each other and overcome all the difficulties to be together. How amazing ❤ Yonghong is just too cute.
Such a lovely love story! So hilarious that he took you as an international business contact at first 😂💗
我看过你和安比的视频,非常棒

@@MiriamFollin Thanks to Wechat translation functions. Otherwise you two will never be together. Love your editing and shooting. Looks professional. Subscribed!
Absolutely😏
Your children will be so interesting to paint in a portrait. Blond, Chinese eyes and happy, lovely smile. Both of you are beautiful, stay married for the ever. God bless.
Your story is sooooo cuteee 🥰 Always wondered how you guys met😊
Edit: Had to laugh out loud that one thought it was a business relationship and the other thought it was a romantic gesture 😄 Classic.
That’s such a beautiful love story! Thank you for sharing with us. I too met my husband from a different country and different culture. That makes this world a beautiful place to be.
Aw😩😩😩 I’m half Chinese half white this is too cute!!!
Generally speaking, half people are better looking imo
See Uyen and her German boyfriend.
OMG, the intro is so sweet. Love the music too. 祝百年好合!
西北汉子真正的男子汉,祝你们永远幸福!
@James Wang what do you mean? I’m sorry. I can’t read Chinese characters.

Robert C. Janse your love is Romantic too

I Heart China ahh I watched your videos!
That was such a cool story! It should be made into a movie. Miriam is a great storyteller. Thanks for this wonderful video.
What a lovely relationship ! Must be soulmates ! Wish both of you all the best!
Such a charming story.. best wishes for your future.
