📺 VIDEO DESCRIPTION- In this video I started out in a funk, then while scrolling social media and watching a random group of strangers having fun I realized we are all faking it. We fake our happiness to show other people around us that we have our life in order and we are happy when in all actuality we are faking it. Most of us aren't even aware what true happiness feels like. I bring up a few examples and we talk about this topic while we boondocks camp in the American Southwest Desert of Arizona. We cook with cast iron over the campfire and make beef liver and a special delicious recipe I learned which includes A&W Rooter and golden potatoes. Hang out with me tonight while we live full time in a slide in pickup truck camper.
Very heartfelt video this week. I wish more people saw how their actions affect others. I don't particularly agree with the term "fake," though. I'm typically aware of my moods and forewarn my coworkers. My mother agreed with you, though--we watch your videos as a family! 🤣 I think you can rest easy knowing you're never the only one who feels these frustrations. I hope you have a great week ahead with Mason and enjoy your time. 🥰 Oh, and I would smile and turn pink if you held the door open for me. 🤣😂

You are spot on about people being in a bad mood I think people have changed for the worse since covid it made people change toward each other no one has any manners or concern for other people but all I have to do is watch good people like you and mason and it changes my mood for the better keep doing what you do it gives me faith in humans . there are some good people in this world

Mason looks a lot like my beloved Teddy, runny like that . He was a chihuahua/ Pomeranian . He was almost 18 yrs old when he passed coming 1 yr now next week. I used to let him off lease in the school yard because he loved to run like crazy.

This is an amazing video. Raw honesty is becoming a lost thing. One of the points you made about people being surprised when you said how you honestly felt stuck with me. When I ask someone how they are I am prepared for a conversation. I think more folks should care. Love watching the outdoors by the way.. A goal I am working towards being out in more for myself. I think you should call it “Campfire talks with Larry”. Love the stories and personal views of the world you have. I have to agree Brother, it’s hard to be nice to people that aren’t nice back or don’t care at all about anyone but themselves. The world has become a cold place it seems. But then every once in awhile you run into people who are experiencing the same thing and it makes you feel better.

Larry we love your show. Jesus is the way to true joy. An internal joy that I can't even explain. And you are right, material things mean nothing. Save up for the things you want and you will enjoy it more and appreciate it. We sold our home a year and a half ago and moved into a fifth wheel and absolutely love it. We have a truck camper for weekends and vacations. Things dont make you happy. But boy My husbamd and I love our life and God. I did it without Him and have no desire to do anything without Him ever again. Im going to pray for you. Be thankful and appreciative with the small things, and you will be happy with anything else that comes your way. I can really tell you appreciate the gifts from your followers. It is so cool!

Larry, thank you. I'm starting up my camping channel this year. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time. I've been struggling with depression for a long time as well. I'm 30 years old. I really needed this video today. I think this was the push i needed to start making the moves i want and to start putting myself and happiness first. I feel the same way as you. I am surrounded by the Fakers. As you have Mason, I have Bailey. My dog is my camping partner. I worked my whole life nonstop. 17-38 US Army. 38 to 60 worked nonstop and was not happy just surviving. At 60, I had enough. The last 2 yrs have been awesome. Life is short, and we have no time for the bs projected by others. I enjoy your content. Hi Mason.

I use to joke with my husband (his names Larry too) you could cook a cat turd in bacon grease and it would taste good. LOL but now I can say the same for liver. I know exactly what you mean about more and more people these days. I'm a woman in her 60's, and I'll hold the door for people and not even get any acknowledgement whatsoever, or let someone go ahead of me, no thanks for a little bit of kindness of whatever. It's sad really. But then there are so many good and sweet people out there that it makes up for it and gives you hope, you know? 😊 We can only be responsible for our own actions and keep smiling. Most people will respond to a genuine smile, so I'll keep on smiling. It sure feels better than a frown, so turn than frown upside down! Lol. Love you and your doggie and your videos are great! Keep it up, and it's refreshing to hear your down to earth stories and feelings and philosophies on life. I appreciate it!

Tried a girlfriend, even worse and realized I was only happy by myself with my puppies! 😎 I was diagnosed with Leukemia a few weeks back but I’ve got it on the run towards remission so it’s all good. I’m almost 79 and have an entirely new perspective on my mortality and life in general! 😎 Enjoy life and look after your health! ❤ Btw… we had a Long Haired Chihuahua when I was a teenager named Tippy but was only about a 3rd the size of Mason. lol

I don’t think it’s fake, a lot of people are genuinely happy and at peace. It’s all about balance - family, spiritual health, physical health, work, play, building things, friendship, challenges (some people call them problems) - we have ruts but when these are out of balance life can be miserable
Wow! This video really hit home with me. I’m going through such a tough time and life changing things and everything you said on your video is true, so very true. I was hoping RUclips would help my situation but it hasn’t. I think my channel just isn’t good enough. It so hard for me because I’m an Empath and can really feel all the negativity from people so deeply. At least your getting better and your RUclips channel has really picked up. First of all, I thought that chapel was gorgeous! I would love to get married there! Second of all, RUclips Was the hardest thing for me to learn in my entire life! I know it seems dumb to say this, but there is so much to it! You just gotta keep plugging away and making videos! Trust me the first 20 or 30 videos of mine are horrible! in fact, the first handful I ended up deleting because I don’t ever want anybody to see those again 🤣
But I think it’s because RUclips was so hard is why it changed my life so much for the better! It really just took a lot of me looking in on myself to figure out why people didn’t wanna watch my videos. Eventually, I learned that I just needed to open up And be authentic. The hardest part was trying to figure out who the authentic me really was! There, I just saved you three years at least 🤣

I appreciate you sharing, so honestly. Sharing your life experiences with others is a courageous and compassionte thing to do. It opens doors for others to share their experiences, which helps us help each other. Some folks are ok skimming the top and staying shallow in sharing, other types of folks prefer the deeper end of conversation. I find the deeper conversations...more thought provoking... and more likely to teach me more. Keep doing you wholeheartedly.
I feel the same way about being out and about with the public. No one seems to be happy anymore and if you ask they say something to kill the conversation. I decided not to allow anyone take my joy away anymore. Stay safe and I enjoy seeing your videos.

I've had a similar journey based on different circumstances. I see tipping points as necessary even though painful. Thanks for sharing some of your journey and letting us get to know you better. I have noticed that despite all the disappointments life brings, things have always turned out better than i ever could have imagined. It's a tough process though.

I commented because I wanted you to know that your video's are helping me through a pretty rough patch and I don't think I'm the only one that feels this way.
You know, I feel the same way, sometimes about people not caring about what goes on in my life. It’s really hard to find a good friend that will truly listen! I don’t like to talk about religion in my videos, and I definitely don’t like to push it on people but for me, it helped when I finally gave in and started believing and a higher power. 🤷

Great video. Thank you for sharing how much chasing the material things in life had you numb and cut off from your feelings. I’ve had it even blind me to my sense of right and wrong. Life can be hard and folk are definitely turning more rude,entitled and mean but I believe it is because they are unhappy in their lives. I have felt at times since I moved to the States from England down and depressed as there have been numerous people where I live,complete strangers out at just the grocery store,come up and threaten me and insult me just because I have an English accent,I was even attacked back in 2021 in Kroger carpark because a woman hated the English so she had heard me talking at the checkout, followed me to my car and punched me in the face. Folk can be cruel but I know now that they are the problem not me. As long as I have my three dogs,I am happy!❤ Look forward to your next video and love to little Mason,he is such a character!❤🐾

had a pop up pick up camper when I was 20, AND a super cool white chihuahua, Dottie.. she was almost 17, lost her right before I sold the house n hit the road.. she LOVED camping and had a real sweet mellow personality like Mason ❤

The first time we spent winter in Mexico in our van people who knew us thought we were crazy all that bandito crap swirling around . Here we are years later in our van next to the Panana Canal this winter. Those that thought we were going to die have dropped away. None of what they think has changed what we have done.

It’s very hard to be “real” today, there’s a lot of fake people who seem to be trying to make their lives something it’s not. Your very correct about society, no manners or decency in public. When’s the last time you saw a man hold a door open for a woman and if they do there’s no acknowledgement or thank you. My wife has had doors close in her face because the person just lets the door close behind them without concern there might be someone behind. Our great grandparents would be appalled.
Watching your channel inspires me to keep going on my channel. Also I thank you for your advice. Also you talk to people as a genuine person. Maybe some don't agree but that's life.
The trick with RUclips is to just keep plugging away! I wanted to quit probably four or five hundred times 🤣 but luckily I had Kenny from Kenny Of All Trades to talk to, and we would call each other on the phone and talk each other off the ledge of wanting to quit our channels 🤣 RUclips knows how to make you feel worthless at times. But then all of a sudden it just starts taking off 🤷

I agree I use to work 70 to 90 hour week for the American Dream ( House ) aka the American Nightmare. You just work to obtain material things, keep up with the Jones. You have no life, no money because you owe everybody. I learned to late, I'm in my 60's, never been anywhere, done anything but work for the American Nightmare. Now different if you have children, but that's a whole new situation and circumstances.
Thank you for sharing. My husband and I are in our 60's and we share the same feelings as you. No one is nice anymore. We thought about hitting the road next year when my husband retires get a van or SUV selling our house and just live. You are not alone and now we know we aren't either. We live in a cold hearted world. We have a neighbor that is always causing problems to the point we end up having to call the police on him. Brother it's what most people don't want to hear but you are 100% right. The two words I've said more than any others in response to inquiries in my 56 years on this planet was.........IM FINE. It took me 50+ years to realize, it's OK to not be fine, and it's even more ok to make yourself vulnerable and let people know.......I'm not ok right now. That doesn't have to translate to someone being in a life or death situation as far as the gravity of them not being ok.
There's three of us left!! I'll say the point of the video was TRUTH.... oh my goodness, you hit it all right on the nose, my friend. Rick and I have many conversations about the same challenges. It was unbelievable to hear your words, felt like you've been with us in our conversations. Yes, people at this time in society are more rude, uncaring, self centered, greety...etc...etc. It's a "me me" world. There, I said it, sad but true. I agree, it's ok to not like that behavior, cuz it doesn't have to be. We have hearts that try to right the wrong...and that's ok too😊. Stay committed Larry. You're definitely not alone in your observations and how you feel about the things you mentioned here. I'm in a very similar boat. I hold doors, say "hello" and smile on trails, try to talk to the checkout person, with little response. Been divorced. I retired three years ago and travel mostly part time until this coming Spring then it's full time. I faked happiness too. Single for about 15 years, rarely dated then I met a walking partner that turned into a little more after a year of just walking. But I miss being on my own so much, so I have decisions to make. We are in charge of our own happiness. There's a LOT of mental illness out there to include racism here in the dirty south. It's sad really and I'm only one person so I'm disconnecting from it all and I'll be AZ bound soon. All of your vids resonate with me in particular this one. Be safe, see you down the road perhaps.

Haven't had liver and onions forever, mix with mashed potatoes and gravy. Now I want some.😅 For some serious concerns, I'm temporarily disabled with terminal cancer, 62 yrs. old, a retired union carpenter. Serious illness is out of this world expensive, lost home, possessions, bank, and 401K. My faith in Father God is all I have, you fill sad for me but, without God, I wouldn't be receiving healing in my body, I wouldn't have hope, I have everything I need, including His peace. Zero worries, I give God all my problems. With peace my emotions are healed, my life is sorted if you will. Point Being - with God He'll turn everything for our good, no matter what life throws at us. I couldn't be in a better place. I fill you.😊

I love watching your videos! I sold my house in 2020 and bought a 16x32 shed. My son and daughter-in-law finished out the inside for me. I love it and was one of the best decisions I ever made. Keep doing what you do because we all love watching. God Bless!
Real talk on a great video! Yes, I feel the exact same way. You were basically speaking what I've been thinking. I'm getting out of trucking, In converting an old ambulance to a camper. It's not that it's hard. It's just waiting for somebody to come over and help me with the electrical. Love your videos keep it up. Maybe we will cross paths one day.

I just found your channel. I want to add to the conversation in a sense...I think it's great how open and honest you are about life, changes, perspectives, etc. It's refreshing. I am drawn to people who are authentic and raw even. I feel like one of our main purposes in life is to relate to each other and to show unselfish love to one another.
Also...I absolutely adore your little buddy. I have 2 little guys too. I must say that you definitely lost me at liver, lol. I do love the sounds of cooking. I'm curious about how that "new" coffee tastes. Is it smoother? I drink Folgers at home too. I switch it up though between Classic, Black Silk, Breakfast Blend. I know that adding chicory and/or salt makes it smoother and less bitter.
I have a possible perspective shift for you. It may not apply to your experiences but it's a strong reality that I wish wasn't a concern. Unless someone is a grey haired granny, females and kids seem to be open season for human TFKing. We have it drilled into us now to constantly be on high alert while not making eye contact, not to be "friendly", especially to males. It goes against my more southern nature but it can be difficult to find the right balance. The rule though is to err on the overly cautious side. It may upset some but its about safety. Again, I don't know if that applies to your experiences bc even in those situations, rudeness doesn't seem appropriate. Idk.
We are all just trying to figure it out in environments that challenge everyone in some way. Personally, I am a Christian and can recognize it as how Scripture describes people towards the end. It's sad. It's scary. Its dangerous. Well, now that I have written you a book, lol. I hope you are having a pleasant day and staying safe.
Oh...as a side note, as you mentioned about perspectives regarding happiness...Mine is that happiness is experienced in moments when we have peace in our contentment. Joy is another matter all together. ☺️👍

I don't know if I'm brave enough for liver and onions, I'll have to take your word for it. Looked gross going in the pan, but once it was all cooked it didn't look too bad at all. You are SO onto something here. I spoke to a bank teller recently, who told me that through her work she has seen the majority of society completely, financially leveraged and couldn't write a check for $50 the day before payday. That doesn't stop them from driving $100k white SUV's, having toys in the driveway, and credit cards max-ed.

The desert is full of stuff that will bite, sting, poke, or kill you. I’ve been living in Arizona all my life, my favorite is the Forrest or mountain. Flagstaff, the Rim country, Show Low.

Larry, it's the way of the world. The younger generation thinks that the world owes them. I am 72 yrs of age and live in Maine. I see it every day. I hold the door for the younger people and they walk right by and do not say a word. Sometimes I will respond with a thank you and just shake my head. Keep doing what you're doing. OMG…you sound just like me! I live in north central Florida and same thing here! People drive like nuts and everyone seems mad..especially at the grocery store. They block the isles, never smile and don’t make eye contact! I’ve lived here most of my life and the last few years here have been awful! I wish I could just take my pup, Willie and go camping like YOU and Mason. (My Willie weighs 7 lbs and looks just like Mason!) You are truly living the GOOD LIFE!😁✌️

And it is our government that has made it this way. Inflation is rediculous. Hopefully, we'll all have a change soon. Grocery stores and the cart comment was spot on LOL! And when I open the door for some and there is NO COMMENT, I just say, Your Welcome and laugh. All we can do is laugh, I know EXACTLY what your talking about. I'm a caregiver for my Mom but looking forward to moving to Idaho soon. Hang in there bud. Love you videos.

Great video! Umm, I'm afraid you'll have to keep the liver all for yourself! My Uncle Don could make liver I would eat, and even get second helpings. But nobody else... he's gone now... the problem with liver is if isn't done correctly, it is just nasty. And there is a fine line... Anyway, i guess I'd try a little bit of the liver you cook, but really rather just stick to steak or something.
On the topic of your video a couple things:
Boundaries. Don't let someone else's foul day, attitude or disposition affect you. Don't Internalize it. It takes practice, but instantly stop caring about them and their feelings when you encounter them, but continue to be nice yourself.
Other people's nastiness is really theirs to Deal with, not yours. Let them own their own stuff. Those people are usually bent on spreading their misery and unhappiness. It'll actually anger them more if you let it just roll off of you.
Happiness isn't something that comes from the outside, in. It comes from the inside out.
Once you figure out what makes you happy, do that... As long as it's legal! Hahah!

The best way that I found have liver.
The secret ingredient is mesquite wood.
Take Mesquite and let it burn for at least a half hour.
Cook on the mesquite for 20 minutes.
Throw away the liver and eat the mesquite.
I absolutely 100% cannot do liver.

Hi Larry. I'm new to the channel and I really can't remember how I got here. Maybe thru Kenny of All Trades? I wanted to tell you I understand completely what you're saying. I think some folks need to run around, making a lot of noise and acquiring the latest "thing," trying to find happiness, pretending they are happy. I really believe it comes from within. When I decided/realized I had enough, enough stuff, enough time to myself, enough room to do what I want to do, I am happy. (It's a whole lot less room than I thought I needed.) We are living in uncertain times, no matter what one's political opinions are. I think that alone makes folks a bit cranky. I think we all need to reflect on our lives and situations occasionally and this is your time. Kindness also goes a long way and I wish more folks would embrace it. As for sleeping away an afternoon? Why not? Every so often, I think we all need a nap to relax and sort of reset. Hopefully, soon your outlook will brighten again. Perhaps by the time the desert blooms.

on and on. I try not to dwell on the occurrence too long. I try not to let those folks "take up space/time in my head. Life too short. Remember there are a lot of great people out there too who respect themselves and others. I try to do the right thing.

I completely understand what you’re saying about some people. Just seems like people are just so about themselves and could care less about those around them.
I teach first grade at a private school and I even notice a big change in students in the past 6 years. I’m having to actually teach kids how to be kind and have manners. Anyway, just keep spreading kindness and happiness around 🎉 everywhere you go. It does plant a seed in others! Thanks for the videos they are awsome!
this is the worst time of the year. Its cold, dark, and windy. I never get down, but the last 3 weeks have been BRUTAL for me, and for no reason.
You know what I started realizing that, even when you’re in a good mood, you go through waves of feeling good and bad I’ve just learned to realize that, and it seems like the bad moods go away a lot faster. Before when I would start getting into a bad mood, it would sort of spiral out of control And I would be mad at myself for feeling that way, which just made things worse.
I hope you find happiness soon to get out of your funk! I know winters can be hard!

I think there are more unhappy people than we realize. They want to make others as unhappy as they are though they have no clue that they're unhappy. Philippines 4:11 speaks about being content. Things, money, fame, prestige and on and on will not make you happy. You have worked hard to find happiness within yourself, in the simple things, in unexpected joys that will come your way when you set your heart and your mind right. With the world now it is a full time job! But even if you're the only person being nice you may never know how your actions helps someone else, and the added bonus is you can face yourself in the mirror knowing you did right, you took the high road and you didn't let people, things or circumstances get you down to their level. I am still learning this and as you stated we will for the rest of our life. You are a good person Larry, it comes through in your videos, just those little actions and of course how you treat that precious pup. His contentment shows as well, it wouldn't be so if you were not a good person. I can see why you two return to that area- beautiful and quiet. Thanks for making this video, it means allot to come across actually. I'm 26 and holy moly it's been a ride. Moved to Colorado about 4 years ago, met a girl, even bought a truck with money I didn't have, Went back and forth and got into campers. The final time I went back I had a 94 Lance slide in that I was living out of, went back to her, felt great FOR A COUPLE months, sold it, then I remembered why we didn't work together. Just like you said, I had everything I ever thought I ever wanted and the most Mayberry life anyone could ever ask for, but I still wasn't happy. Finally stopped chasing her, moved back into the back of my truck, and I started learning Whitewater kayaking, was mountain bike riding and working at the same time. Doing THAT gave me everything I've ever wanted since a child and I'm going to chase it as long as I can. I'm in Tucson right now fixing up a side entry,I hope I see ya around!

Well I found out that to just laugh at these people and not say a word. It’s so sad that people don’t get US!! They don’t GET us because they are the fake one acting like not a thing is wrong. Phonies. In my own life my first thing I do is go to GOD and ask for his advice and forgiveness. Ask for forgiveness because of how these people make me react to their stupidity. Hey Larry I love your talks I totally agree people just have to show that their life is the best no problems in the world. Everything is great and most of it is all BS. But the funny thing is most people realize that and you couldn’t be more right with the way the world is today. People are so ungrateful like you opening the door they couldn’t say thank you when they do that to me I just say you’re welcome with a smile that’s a jersey thing lol! I within the last year I started to enjoy my own company.
