  • I was given permission to fly this incredible San Antonio landmark along with several other drone photographers. Our window was only for 20 minutes, so it was a bit of a race to see who could get the best footage. BIG thanks to the city of San Antonio for this unique opportunity!

    Amazing footage, even with the artifacts ! Thanks for uploading it Ken. I'm going to keep practicing with my P3, so if I am ever granted permission to fly a premium spot like this in a narrow time window I won't be fumbling around...just get her up and start shooting : )

    It was built for the World's Fair and do we know for what specific purpose? Radio transmission perhaps?
    Do we know why they held the World's Fair in San Antonio?
    Did you get much radio interference during your flight?

    Yet another informative video. Keep them coming. :-) I'm guessing the reason the Phantom 4 is off getting repaired for the failing sensor?

    Hey Ken. How did you get to 230m ... the ph4 max altitude is 120m... ? EDIT: google wisdom proclaims TOTA is 176m, I'm guessing the restaurant is below 120m? ...

    • @KenHeron
      @KenHeron  8 лет назад

      The maximum altitude of the Phantom 4 is 500 meters.
      Your go App's default is 120 meters. Simply change the max height to 500.
      Good luck!

    Which departement did you ask for the permission?

  • @Realunitedstates

    Beautiful footage Ken! Can you elaborate on who "granted permission" to fly the drone for 20 minutes?

    • @KenHeron
      @KenHeron  8 лет назад +1

      I was sworn to secrecy, but I can tell you the person(s) were wearing uniforms.

      "...wearing uniforms." So, uh, the local girls soccer team? :P

    Awesome video. Sucks about the sensor. I wonder if the camera sensor is a common or isolated issue. If you don't mind me asking, how do you go about getting permission to film in places like this?

    • @KenHeron
      @KenHeron  8 лет назад +2

      The best way to get permission is to simply ask.
      You'd be surprised how many people will grant permission simply because you were decent enough to ask.

    always enjoying your videos, shame about those pixels, have you ever encountered pink/green lines on videos and reason what is causing it?

    • @KenHeron
      @KenHeron  8 лет назад

      Thanks! I have no idea what causes those. A failing sensor in the camera most likely.

    So I was in San Antonio last month, and shot my own (P4P) video. I'd like to post it, but (videographer-to-videographer) should I be scared, see'in I was eye-to-eye with the tower as well?

    • @KenHeron
      @KenHeron  7 лет назад

      Hey Mike--
      I lucked out that day because there was another media event happening and I was able to get permission to fly.
      Of course that was a while ago, so policy might be different now. I'd ask permission before posting anything, just to be safe.
      You'd be amazed how open people can be if you just include them. --Happy flying!

    I'm sorry, Ken, but i am from other country. DO you have to ask permission in order to surround the tower, and + free publicity?
