I'm not super picky, but I started out with commercial tongs with inline reins, so it's what I got used to.

What size round are you using to make the rivets?
The little ones got a 5/16 rivet, and the other 3 a 3/8".
What type of metal?
The split bar tongs were made from hot roll mild steel. (Last weeks video!)
My older tongs were made from scrap sucker rod.
