Wow! Iko's recovery from the snakebite was remarkable. Your Vet is a star, not only for his knowledge but for allowing you to keep an emergency stock of anti venom. What a relief!! ❤
He is the best!! 💙 It’s not actually anti-venom (that stuff costs tens of thousands of dollars & thankfully is almost never necessary with the species of venomous snakes we have here), it’s just the standard anti-inflammatory medicine they’d treat a snake bite with at the vet’s (think souped-up benadryl) - but still suuuuper helpful to have on hand! 🙏 Made all the difference in how Iko felt & recovered. A relief indeed!! ❤️
So sorry Bear got snakebit! It's as bad as having your child get hurt or sick. My cat was bitten once, but thank God the snake wasn't venomous. He limped around for a few days, then perked right back up and was himself again. Iko's recovery really is amazing! I'm so glad ya'll were prepared and that your vet is willing to help over the phone. (Many are not!) On a whole other subject, I hope when ya'll do sail around the world, you'll share it with us via youtube. I love your channel! :)
Omg Iko!! I sobbed so hard. 😭😭😭 Almost hopped in my car and drove down through tropical storm Debby to make sure Iko is really ok!! 🧐😢 (I was so distraught the time delay of the video was not hitting me 😂😂) Lordy that was rough. Poor baby! Please replenish that kit ASAP!! That silly dog is going to sniff the next snake she sees, I just know it! 🤦🏻♀️ Glad you had the meds on hand and she’s doing better. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Thank the vet for all of us Iko fans! ❤️❤️
So glad to see Miss Bear came through it all okay. Thank you, Brandon, for the recap of your sailing. And yes, thank you, Sarah, for sharing the group and that song. Bliss! Have a great week!
My goodness, so happy things turned out okay with Ms. Bear! Brandon is such a Jack-of-all-trades! I guess you would need to be if you are on a boat in the middle of the water. Soon, you will be a Jill-of-all-trades! LOL. What an exciting adventure to work for. Hope y’all have a great weekend. See ya next week!

Sarah, you are going to be an amazing sailor one day-you’ve got two great teachers on hand so you got this girl! Brandon, way to show that sailing cred. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You two are really living life to the fullest. 5⭐️ on the song recommendation! Love it! Already sent it to my song buddies. ❤

I'm very happy Iko recovered so quickly from her snake bite! It is so hard to see our fur babies in pain. Speaking of bite, I bit and went to check out "The Pasture" song. My only complaint is that it didn't last long enough! Good stuff! Wow, what HASN'T Brandon done? Goodness, I regret thinking I had to jump into the 9-5 rat race!

Sarah your gonna rock at sailing in no time. I'm so ready for y'all's sailing series.💜My friend got bit!!! Stinky snake 😢😢😢 I'm so glad she is doing better 💜💜.
We woke up this morning and our Pyrenese had been bit on the face by a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, our first time one of our girls have been bit, very scary. I hope our puppy wakes up tomorrow as happy as Iko.
Thank God you had the Anti-venin on hand! Your Vet I'd phenomenal for allowing yall to take it home and administer it yourselves. That would have terrified me watching my dog get bit. Iko sure is one lucky lady and her recovery is absolutely amazing!
I had just put down my fiddle, started browsing again. Saw this video on my screen. When that song came on, I was about to write a comment asking "Who IS that?" - thanks for the share! I think I've seen a ukulele, and a banjo in your videos.. are you both musicians? I love & play various instruments in the Celtic / Old Time / Bluegrass / Eclectic vein. Gonna listen to some more.
I just love watching your videos every week! I admire your lifestyle on the lake. Someday I plan to visit the area and the lake. But really I would love to live on the lake! Like right now!
My first time to sail and participate in guiding the sales, we were in blue water and it was difficult for me . I feel I did well considering it was my first time
So scary! Glad Ms Iko Bear recovered so well...if only we could teach our pets in a language they understand to avoid such dangers... Ah, Elephant Revival! They hailed from Nederland CO, not far as the crow flies from where I live. Love their music!
Wow, Elephant Revival are great, thanks for turning me on to them, Sarah! Now I want to learn to play the washboard, lol. If you like blue grass/country music, I highly recommend Charles Wesley Godwin and The Allegheny High, they are awesome. Charles is my cousin (by marriage, he’s married to my cousin Samantha). Give them a listen, I think you will like them
I watch 4 accomplished world sailing couples, and envy all the beautiful places they have been from Iceland, Europe, Australia, the Atlantic, the Caribbean, and Central America. I have been to all but Iceland by Aircraft, but the people and scenery are so much better from the water. Our sailing skills never got past on lakes, but it is fun until you need skills to survive. Most all recommend signing on as crew for charter boats, race boats, or anyone else offering training for help before investing a ton of money in a boat. To pay for most of it, you need very good camera and editing skills. Maybe the best for video quality is "Sailing project Atticus". Jordan studied videography and production in college before signing on for Superyachts crews where he met his wife. With little money, they bought a cheap old boat and spent two years restoring it gaining needed skills to maintain a yacht as they require constant maintenance. They have a much better larger boat now and a daughter, with number 2 in the oven, and a mother in law for "crew"...
Sarah, I have to ask - "The Pasture" by whom? I found 3 versions - Music by Z. Randall Stroope, Music by Randall Thompson, Music by Elephant Revival. I prefer the last two, even though the 1st one was good.
Was it a rattler? Unsure how all our critters avoided them over the years..we had plenty on the Fl-Ga boarder. (Now in the Poconos..😊) On the other hand…I’ve been bitten twice. Once when I worked at the Universities Lab Animal Resources milking snakes…one got loose-it was a through and through on the back of my ankle. Next time was pure idiocy…at 21, a friend of our came over with a playmate cooler. He’d caught a “baby” rattler (which was actually an adult Pygmy), and wanted to learn how to milk it. This was on July 4, and we’d been celebrating…if you get my drift. In 1980 celebrations could get kind of crazy; I had NO business trying to pick up and milk a rattler…but, like all youngun’s at that age, we were invincible. Even worse..I worked at the hospital and did NOT want to go in. We were later told the only reason I survived the bite to my left hand was because I’d built up some immunity from the previous bite. My hand and arm blew up like a watermelon..I knew the basics, but when the swelling hadn’t gone down in the morning, my fiancé made me go in..and boy, my colleagues were NOT happy. They slit me open, kept checking on me..I actually recovered pretty quick. The snake! Our friend shot it shortly after it hit me..I didn’t even know and I cussed him out. It wasn’t the snakes fault…we disturbed IT, poor thing was scared to death. I’ve come across them many times over the years, as long as you leave them alone, they’ll leave you alone. When I was 7 months pregnant with my eldest and we were camped out at our usual Florida Spring…I was bitten by a scorpion. Called my doc who had seen me the year before when I was bitten by the Pygmy, “you can NOT be serious Elaine?!” Luckily, those sand scorpions aren’t very poisonous…and my husband was going to kill it when it quit running in circles, but it died on its own. I miss being out in the woods all the time…❤
I had a Boykin spaniel that was bit by a venomous snake and didn’t make it…. We got her to the vet within 30 minutes and he started the antivenom on her…. He checked on her through the night but she didn’t make it…. The bite was on her leg and the vet said that it hit an artery and she wasn’t able to pull through….. so venomous snake bites on dogs can definitely be deadly…. I’m not trying to be negative… just sharing my personal experience.
Oh my goodness! 💔 that must have been absolutely heartbreaking, I can’t even imagine… I’ve never heard of a dog dying from a snakebite, I could see how a bite right in an artery could do that though- what a tragedy 😔 I’m so sorry that happened!
@@KeepingAfloatWiththeJonesesdo your research, you live in an area w/venomous snakes, you definitely should have looked into proper treatment long before this happening to her. And ANTI VENOM is the ONLY effective treatment. It’s not an allergy, it’s poisoning!
@LeeLuvsBeaches We have done our research, and as you would have seen in this video, we were indeed prepared in advance with a treatment kit administered by our vet. Anti venom is most definitely not the only treatment; course of treatment depends on the situation and should be determined by an actual veterinarian, not a google search. Even in humans, it is rare to be treated with antivenom for a copperhead or rattlesnake bite - typically only necessary for coral snakes and the like, which we do not have in this area. I have had 6 coworkers be envenomated, none of which were treated with antivenom. Our preparation and treatment was based on recommendations and prescriptions from our veterinarian. There is no better research than advice from a trained medical professional familiar with your situation, which is exactly what we followed. 🙏
@@KeepingAfloatWiththeJoneses thank you.. it was heartbreaking…. But I’m so glad that your baby was/is ok :) we have Brittany spaniels now and they do enjoy running through the woods… it’s just part of life… and you’re right, it is rare for them to die from a snake bite. Love your videos!
