I like it as a weekly seal provider, and leveling it up and finding spells is fun enough. Still wish there were another version that acted like a regular job.
Also wish there was a queue system for it. Regardless of how nontraditional it is, they could find a way if they wanted to.

Feels like a really phoned in update, not unlike 70's to be honest. I was hoping for them to address the barriers against people using BLU for things: Fixing the Role targeting, something to consume Limit Gauge, maybe some general QOL to how terrible BLU tanking is. Instead we got none of those and all we got was more button bloat mandatory DOTs+OGCDs.
Given how long this update was on the backburner, it feels like they've genuinely abandoned BLU and maybe the Limited Job idea as a whole, which is a very stark rarity from how they usually handle things that are met with mixed success... considering it seems like the iteration steps are obvious and relatively simple to execute.
    - You can't tell me Aetherial Mimicry can't be used to adjust Role tag, fixing fight mechanic issues.
    - You can't tell me another button cannot consume Limit Gauge, Ungarmax existed for Squadrons and Trusts use their own.
    - You can't tell me BLU cannot queue at a Blue Minstrel NPC for their own BLU only Ultimate, Deep Dungeon, etc if you truly cannot fix the Achievement issue with the original instance.
The first 2 strike me as a relatively straightforward fixes and to see 2 years or so go by with neither just makes me feel like they've abandoned improving it, which is quite sad.

    • @coconut1515
      @coconut1515 Год назад +6

Have to agree that the role assignments being messed up is intentional and does not need to be "fixed". It can be frustrating at times but it forces you to deal with these situations in a different way than you usually would. Blue mage can already cheese tons of mechanics and in my opinion the lack of role assignments kind of balances that out, if they "fixed" role assignments it would just make a lot of content trivial.

I honestly really enjoy blue mage, but I use it primarily as a solo job. Doing dungeons, treasure maps in particular, that kind of content is a lot of fun. I've also got my morbol and thought it was good, but there's not a lot of staying power. They leave a lot of content out, you _can_ do the entire savage tier as blue, I'm sure it's probably feasible, but there's no achievement for stepping foot into anything but the 4th tier instances. I think there's room for easy wins, I'd like to see weekly dungeon targets that could be done solo or in a group (right now all targets are group only), and there's good content like deep dungeon that even if you just took your full spellbook in there could be fun to do, assuming you lock out the traditional achievements and used blue specific ones. Better blue support for party finder too would go a long way to make matching better, being able to specify mimicry or intended playstyle for recruitment would make the process way less jank because every group has to do a stupid song and dance to organize who's doing what and it's pretty tiring. The amount of times you have to back out of an instance because you're missing roles is way too high.

Agree. Also a daily roulette with the latest level 90 currency would be a great incentive to keep an influx of BLU parties going on, but for this to work they would need to adjust Aetherial Mimicry to actually flag you as a role, and not just that, they would need to find a way to make it a required spell through a questline to unlock the duty finder/roulette.

Not a fan of the idea of _completely_ converting BLU into a standard job, but there really needs to be at least one selection of spells that’s balanced enough to allow them to be used as a standard job in most content. @enlongjones2394 Год назад +6

6:10 BLU as a traditional job is a funny idea to me. Because with the most recent spells, I could absolutely see it being made as… a DOT mage.
That style of caster was dropped with the SMN rework, but BLU now has 4 or 5 DOT spells that are quite important to its game plan (Breath of Magic, Mortal Flame, Song of Torment, Nightbloom, and sometimes Bad Breath), with a focus on dropping those DOTs under high-powered magic buffs. With BoM and MF particularly, the focus on BLU burst has strongly started to revolve around setting these DOTs.
A mage job that uses this concept to charge up and fire off big DOTs, with fancy filler spells in between, is a provably interesting way to play the job.
And it doesn’t hurt that more than a few of our DOTs are us spitting stuff at the enemy, which is just funny.

I still think BLU could go a long way with a more repeatable form of content. Carnival weeklies and BLU log weeklies are ok, but content that keeps you coming back (I know you've suggested a unique BLU deep dungeon) is really what I want out of BLU, since it would give me a reason to keep going "oh, yeah I feel like getting on my BLU and doing X or Y this week because it sounds fun and I'm bored" instead of most BLU stuff feeling like 1 and done content.

  • @zanon3362
    @zanon3362 Год назад +4

The blue deep dungeon idea sounds great tbh. It's already our mini version of a rouge-like, and that would be able to dial up those rogue-like mechanics even higher. That idea reminds me of Lufia 2's ancient cave where you not only get random gear, but also random spells as you move through floors. Sometimes you get the best healing spell in the game, sometimes you get literally no healing and have to depend on items for recovery / special equipment to heal up.
It's probably way too much work to code extra equipment, but they could even add that here. If it were balanced around a party of 4, you could have gear with random stats drop and then divide it among your group based on what "build" each is going for that run.
Again though, this sounds ambitious and a true pipe dream. When I find a rogue-like I love, I spend like 50 hours a week just hooked on it.

The level 60 update was the most important BLU update in my opinion, it came with a revamp of all spells giving some new purposes and some streamlining, it had an incentive to do raids as a full group but it also crushed my dreams of getting a "Blue Necromancer" title, 70 and 80 didn't really bring anything, 70 really should have allowed them to do some specific challenges in Eureka and now 80 in Bozja.
I also feel like the way BLU currently works could absolutely co-exist with a non-limited version of the job, maybe in the form of a modified job crystal you equip for a more normal and unique toolset compared to the limited version where you set your own spells.

My thoughts on blue mage never changed. A truly unique and interesting version of a spell caster. I absolutely love the idea of travelling the world learning new spell from magic creatures. The big Problem is the limited job format in general because no matter how much you increase the level cap the job is ultimately useless. Most people unlock the spells and then never really use it ever (except to off themself lol). Really wasted potential, well this was my 6 months checkup if blue mage has been fixed..

I like BLU as a class as it is right now and i find it really fun to play, but i really don't get why it has been limited so much. They can easily open stuff like Ultimates and Deep Dungeons for BLU and simply give different rewards for completion compared to the normal rewards since they would be considerably easier to clear. The fact that it has been 2 BLU patches now that we didn't get a new mount will also make the BLU savage scene slowly die out even more than before because people have much fewer incentives to clear those fights. They could have easily made the Shadowkeeper mount become a BLU mount and it would have been very fitting but i guess that they like money more than BLU.

Biggest issue for BLU for me is how it's setup and touted as a solo job, but then requires you to group up to learn certain spells and complete the BLU logs. Either make it a solo job or let us que up in DF. I realize the code for getting 1 tank, 1 healer and 2 DPS will not work the way BLU is implemented, but honestly I'm not sure BLU really requires that for most dungeons. Maybe it's a bigger ask for trials and raids, but just add an option to queue as Tank, DPS or Heals, and let people choose multiple since the job is very flexible.
BLU deep dungeon would be fantastic, even if they just added a separate leaderboard solely for BLU and left everything else the same using the current DDs.

  • @JudgeMagistR

To me, they should expand on the rewards on what the job could get, for example:
Relic weapons, I think blue mage should have all the expansions relic weapons, that should allow players to revisit old content and maybe help other folks that are grinding for that relic content in case they run on level sync.
The blue mage log should also be possible to obtain while playing solo, My current issue is trying to find blue mage players and even when we do, They're not really up to learn the spells and what to properly do when playing as a limited job, So I most definitely want more solo-playable content for this fella and the game in general.
That also means more spells that allows the player to solo almost any content. On the shadowbringers spell list, I was really hoping for WoL's LB4 and Heroes Gauntlet ninja boss decoy ability. So I could create some sort of clone as a temporary offtank for dual-tank mechanics, Neither of them did happen, When endwalker blue mage update comes out, they won't allow to play on variant dungeons as it is already stated when you queue as blue mage...
I still think to this day they should allow blue mage on field operations, deep dungeons and variant dungeons alike.
I don't mind the job as it is, you can play plenty of stuff nowdays, But it would be neat if they allowed more things to be playable with the job and make it less limited over time.

In regards to relics, doesn't really make sense to add BLU to older ones, without heavily retconning the story behind those weapons. It's one of the reasons they don't add new jobs to old relic questlines.
I haven't done any of the Manderville Weapon questline yet, so I don't know if it applies to that story, but for everything previous, no.
That being said, I would absolutely be all for adding a *new* set of questlines for what are essentially relic weapons for BLU. Only major problem with that is that BLU sticks don't have stats, so a lot of relic steps would simply be new weapon models with zero difference.

My suggestion would be to make BLU a standard caster with a (relatively) set rotation but add a BLU off-hand weapon that gives them full access to BLU spells. The catch is that the off-hand weapon prevents them from entering the Duty Finder when equipped. You can still have a custom party to farm spells and such, but if you want to just do some roulettes or something you can unequip the off-hand and play it like a "normal" job. For example, 1,000 Needles would just be a 200 potency attack normally, but with the off-hand equipped it would do its usual 1,000 damage.

Simple solution would be to make it a 1.5 role job.
    1) Allow them to participate with other jobs in all main content, but force them to pre-select their role, and only allow 1 BLU per role/team.
    2) Revise spell potency to bring them inline with other jobs associated to that specific role while locking out certain spells. (i.e: White Wind or angel whisper can only be used when in healer mimic but healers can't use DPS focused skills like surpanakha or final sting combo skills, etc. with the exception of DoTs). And adjust some skills to be single target rather than almost all being AoE.
    3) Give them their own pvp, not sure about BR but if it works, sure why not.
    4) Keep adding Blu specific content.
Blu is advertised as a substitute/filler role that has it own guild and class quests in game. Devs already provided the answers to Blu issues, they just don't seem to notice/act on it yet.
No need for "limited" job or for it to be a dedicated main job caster. And just raise the lvl cap to 90 instead of trailing 10 behind.

I was there at fan fest when they announce Blu Mage, I was excited for it until the next day at the live letter, that excitement fizzled. Especially when the emphasis that it was solo content, I'm thinking well we can use them with the squadrons, we could do deep dungeons with Blu, etc. But that was not the case. I enjoyed getting the spells until it got tedious when getting primal spells. I did Masked Carnivale (MC) and got a few spells but it got boring to me. I think my biggest complaint was they tied Blu's storyline with the MC. The storyline & the content (MC) are 2 different things. After defeating level 25 Dirty Rotten ??? after my 29th attempt then to thru the story to face Seigfried. I stopped with the Blu storyline & have no desire to do so. I never have done the BLU Log, no interest in it. They could have added INSTANCES in BLU's storyline. I always believed SE missed the major mark by not allowing BLU to do other solo content like squadrons, deep dungeons, etc. At this point, SE should just make it a full job & be done with it.

I had a good, long think on this. I may be coming from this at the wrong angle, as I only recently started getting into blue mage, but I see the class as side content. Just, good, fun, challenging side content. So I think it would be great to lean into that aspect more.
How? Well... the umbrella is a step in the right direction, I think. Blue mages have a VERY limited pool of weapons to draw from. It would be fun to hunt down and/or earn new weapons or even other cosmetic items.
One idea I had was to open up Eureka to blues. Absurd? Absolutely. Fun? Almost certainly. Or if that just chafes the wrong way, give blue mages an exclusive Eureka spell set to collect. As in, you have to go about the zones, learning these new spells from Eureka for Eureka only. They could even have some interaction with the Magia Board depending on the spells' aspect. Go nuts.
At the end of it? I dunno. An Ozumat mount from Arsenal that strobes the colors of the rainbow? Maybe a spell that we can use outside of Eureka? How about a fashion accessory, like Pazuzu's wings or something?
It feels like using the Blue Mage for challenges and collecting cosmetics would be a good way to go for the class. But that's just my thoughts.

So I had an idea recently for something they could do with BLU that I've really been into. Hear me out:
You go into your Blue Mage logbook and go to the BLUlettes tab or whatever, and you have your standard stuff, Levelling Dungeon/Level Cap Dungeon/Trial/Normal Raid, maybe just one or two of those if that's too ambitious but it'd all be the same tech. You pick one, and then you and your party get an interface to pick one of that day's four randomized spell loadouts. Basically, you get asked which preconstructed class you want to play. To be clear about how this works in my head,
    - The randomization would have biases
    - Of course you get a basic 220 potency GCD because otherwise would be stupid
    - You always have and automatically get assigned the appropriate Aetheric Mimicry
    - At *least* the Designated Healer always gets the raise (and the Esuna), and it's more likely to show up than average for the other 3
    - Tank always gets Mighty Guard and Diamondback, and is favored to get the few tank tools the class has
    - DPS have at least a bias towards a minimum off-global 120s
    - If you get a button is designed to combo with another, You Will Have That Combo (i.e. Peal Pelt + Deep Clean, Aquabreath + Northerlies, Conviction Marcato + Winged Reprobation)
    - Ultravibration is both rare and will never show up on more than one loadout at a time, because honestly I want more reason to use all the trash pull related tools the class has
    - If you don't have a spell in the loadout you select, Tough Shit Buddy Go Learn That Spell. If you queue in anyway you literally just have a blank slot (you need to at least have the 220 or it won't even let you try). This is to, you know, encourage you to go learn them all
    - I'm not picky about a reward but I would personally probably prefer poetics or uncapped tomes (the weekly targets provide plenty seals or whatever)
    - If they can tweak the system such that it wouldn't be toxic, I would love this feature to exist in a way as to not be limited to preconstructed parties (maybe you need to have at least 18/24 of the spells in a list?) but if it has to be preconstructed only I wouldn't cry about it
    - Bonus points if there's types of BLUlette that prioritize dungeons nobody ever fucking does anymore, like when was the last time you went into Neverreap come on
The goal here is to give you an environment where you can both play with all the funny buttons the class has and usually doesn't use (because they're meant for AoE and Ram's + Vibes already kills every trash pack) in a way that you could queue for daily if you liked BLU enough. Basically I just want some payoff for playing with my friends to level our Blue Mages to cap. Doing PF for weekly targets is just kind of annoying, especially on Crystal, and I don't care so much about BLU that I'd DC travel to Aether literally just to do three duties that will probably still take an hour to queue into. If this is supposed to be fun casual content... give me some fun casual content to do with it. It's like giving me a water gun but nobody is in swimwear. We can all agree water guns can be fun, but what am I supposed to do with it *right now* other than 'enjoy the fact that I own a water gun'.
Also please for the love of god, just make a separate duty for BLU ultimates for people who want Hard BLU Content. Give it a separate set of titles. Don't even worry about making a BLU-only totem for a BLU ultimate weapon. Just don't even bother! It would be cool but literally all anyone cares about is the novelty. Nobody who's cleared an ultimate is threatened by someone doing it 'illegitimately', we just want to see what stupid strats people throw together for mechanics not designed for the class. Literally, don't even playtest them to see if it's doable. We'll find a way, and if we don't, maybe next BLU expansion add something that might help. I don't know why this is such a contentious idea to the devs. BLU is design space anarchy, lean into it, who fucking cares. It'll be alright, if you botch it then it's just part of the joke.

Blue Mage desperately needs something like Triple Cast or Lightspeed cuz there’s so few good Instant GCDs. Goblin Punch exists now but it loses DPS if not combined with Off Guard and attacking from the front.
I think they could have made it compatable with Duty Finder just by forcing a few set actions for your desired role, while restricting other, drastically OP actions. I’m also still salty about Seat of Sacrifice.

I think that Blue Mage would do a lot better if there were an option to swap it into a restricted and controlled version of the job for current duties. Give them something like an achievement-earned or purchasable job stone that they can equip which gives them a preset kit tuned specifically as a Magic DPS for current content, and gate that behind finding all of the spells used in that set first. When you feel like doing current content, you equip the stone and get your group kit. When you feel like doing regular busted blue mage things, you swap back to the old job stone and it gives you the way the job currently is. Whenever a new spell set drops, you disable the new stone and require that the player finds the missing spells for current group content to become available again. If they did it this way, I think they could easily keep the spirit and feeling of how the job works right now, while not completely shredding the balance aspects of the game.
As far as the preset kit itself goes, they could design it to work like a regular job and change the effects of the spells themselves to be in line with how other jobs work. Use some of the most iconic spells that BLU has access to, but have it work fundamentally different than how BLU functions in the wild. Set it up with its own core mechanics, tune it so that it doesn't outperform or underperform the other jobs, and basically treat it like a completely new job being added to the game. The good thing about creating an extra job stone is that you can make whatever changes need to be made without forcing them to replace the old system. This way, people get the best of both worlds; they can have fun learning the spells and trying to tackle old content like they have been, but they can also experience current content in a more controlled setting.

I also agree with many folks in the comments here about a BLU roulette. Whenever BLU gets an update, it's easier to find parties for spells...but interest will soon drop off (like it's done before) and then it becomes very difficult to find a group of even just three other people. I'm sort of forcing myself to join parties to get spells because I know that there won't be much later on.
Personally, I hated the new Masked Carnival stage we got (though I did enjoy the questline which led up to it). It just takes so long and I feel like it didn't have the same puzzle solving-like quality to it; because even though I'm rusty at BLU, it didn't take me long to figure out what I needed to do.
Another issue I have, and it could be just that I'm bad at it (very distinct possibility), is being the "tank" in a BLU parties just...is bad. I've only been in one or two parties where the "tank" was able to hold agro. More often than not, someone else will wind up with it and when I have to fulfill that role I'm constantly using Frog Legs (and even that doesn't work half the time). And this is sync'd content and my gear is level 80...so I'm left with the possibilities that either I'm just bad at BLU Tank (again, which is possible), or many people tend to have that problem (which I see very often)...and yes, I use Mighty Guard.
I've never really liked that BLU was advertised as "solo" content when in reality it's very most definitely not. Though the Masked Carnival is, getting spells (not counting overworld and totems) tends to require a party. The Variant Dungeons are more of "solo" content than BLU, IMO.

A large issue is whats to come, in stormblood we reached what they had planned ahead for (120 spells) so right now im worried about the future of this job. These new spells are super fun, even making solo runs more managable with things like breath of magic. But theres a lot of useless spells and lets be honest... most people run the same spells anyway, your not giving up supernaka or other spells everyone uses. If theres no plan for blu (and remember at lvl 100 yoshi p said they will have to decide something to do going forward.) Just make blu a normal job or make adjustments so its able to play with other jobs more nicely.

On the other hand though, that'd probably pigeon hole that content into requiring blue mage for efficiency.
I don't really see the point of a full job blue mage though. Entirely new jobs would be more interesting to me. Blue mage isn't hurting anyone by existing as a small side activity in the game that gets the occasional little bit of new content.

The problem nowadays is (outside of update times, once every 2 years): I log in and simply have to wait for 1-2h in the party finder until I get a group (even offering myself as a tank, the hardest role), whereas as other jobs I can jump in any sort of activities straight away, let it be a roulette, some pvp, side content or even Savage raiding through Party Finder.

I remember someone saying that if a New Limited Job came out and not the Ultimate in 5.5 people would riot, despite two different teams working on each piece of content, and that more people would have probably tried the new job than tried the Ultimates (Though the Ultimates do bring a lot more exposure to the game). They can also make work like a traditional job with everything they've added in by now (or three, even), but I enjoy the change in feel of the game this class brings as executed and wouldn't want them to abandon that. I'm glad you enjoy 1 arena battle that you do one time and it takes you about 15 minutes to 30 minutes to clear as good way to use SE's resources but fact is that blue mage doesnt have content. Outside of this 1 arena a year there is no "solo" content that blue mage could do so whole idea of limited job is invalid. You will never go to open world as blue mage because you wont be able to do relevant things like hunts either meaning all you can do on blue mage is outdated content that requires you to join 8 man groups for it #solojob

My biggest issue with Blue Mage is how isolated it is. I think the concept of Limited Jobs is great as a way to revitalize so much old content and you can have fun crazy stuff that would break the balance. The problem is there’s only Blue Mage for that though. It’s already isolated from all the regular grindy stuff that normal jobs do, made worse by most normal jobs feeling bad to do Blue Mage runs with. Plus, all content that can be Blue Mage’d except the Carnival and Moogle Tome grinds can also be unsynced.
Instead, what I want to see is a much more extreme lean into the concept. Give most jobs a “Limited” kit, bringing back and repurposing a bunch of deleted abilities and concepts. Give us a crazy dps Dark Knight that drains HP or old Summoner with egis and a million dots. Incorporate PVP abilities in there too. Then, unlock Eureka, Bojza, and 24-man raids, plus throw in a Limited Job roulette.
It almost certainly won’t happen like that because it’s a huge amount of work, but I think some more Limited Jobs that can do content together and unlocking Eureka + Bojza for them would do a ton to revitalize the concept and it would be a great in-between activity when not doing the newest content grinds or crafting and gathering.

  • @MissLilianae
    @MissLilianae Год назад

I think the only reasons I personally could come up with for why they intro'd BLU as a Limited Job was for 2 reasons:
    1) There's no guarantee of quality with BLU at certain levels. Assuming we kept the same system where you'd have to go out and find all of your spells but you could go up to current content like the other jobs. Queueing up in, say Sastasha, as a brand new level 15 BLU you could have spells ranging from Water Cannon exclusively to a small collection of whatever you could scrabble together at that level. Or, if you're a max level BLU who's collected every spell, you get sync'd down to Sastasha and just walk your way through every pull with Ram's Voice + Ultravibration and give any sprouts you're with a free clear.
    2) There's troll potential for BLU, at least a little bit. There's a chance that there's someone out there who, for the LOLs, could Final Sting a trash mob or SD between pulls just to kill themselves and either respawn at start and run back/refuse rezzes to troll their party. In the FF community that seems less likely, but still a possibility I'd be concerned with whenever I'd queue into a dungeon and see on of my party members was a BLU. Are they going to carry me or are they going to be literal dead weight?
I think the issues they could use to address this would be to increase the spells necessary to complete BLU quests and possibly lock dungeons behind BLU job quests. So instead of just getting Blood Drain, Mind Blast, Glower, and 1,000 Needles for levels 1-50 (and whatever other ones I forget it's been so long). You might need to get other spells, or even be told about the Whalaqee Totems to get access to things like White Wind, Mighty Guard, Off-Guard, etc, and once you've collected enough spells you can queue into dungeons of that class quest's level or lower. Maybe have Martyn be like "You've come far enough as a Blue Mage that I feel you can hold your own without me supervising. You can take on some more challenging foes, but I'd recommend you bring some friends." Then you get the pop up "Duty Finder Unlocked".
Alternatively, they go through the BLU spellbook and put levels to the spells so you can't use certain spells if you get sync'd down because they'd just be too OP.

The quickest improvement they could make is allowing the role attunement to augment their limit break so that certain fights that require a tank lb3 can be cleared, grant spells, and be added to the blue log. This would not only make a fight like seat of sacrifice viable, it could help break barriers to blue-ultimate.
The other lowest hanging fruit is deep blue dungeons. Even if ultimate and deep dungeons have alternative achievement and reward tracks, it's still an existing content format that could be easily co-opted to quickly expand the game's repertoire of content offerings. Then again, SE also has a track record of reminding us that reward structures seem to be their greatest systematic weakness.

As a non-raiding player, I find BLU is fun to do side contents like FATE or grinding relics with. Spell learning is also a fun progress for me.
    My problems with BLU is:
-A lot of blue magic spells are kinda just there for the sake of of having spells. Like Revenge Blast that increases damage when your HP is below 20%. Like, you never want your HP to be less than 50% cuz White Wind, lest 20%. And I imagine in a party setting where you can be 20% with some safety, your HP is gonna topped up by other jobs anyway.
-BLU contents only reward allied seals. I feel that it should rewards centurion seals too considered this currency is of old contents that barely anyone runs anymore. Then Kupo nuts when 7.0 and beyond drop.
-No BLU-only duty finder for easier spell learning. After a few weeks the BLU patch drops, it becomes harder to gather like-minded BLU mages to learn spells cuz most people only run contents once and they don't have incentives to run more. There should incentives for BLU to help other BLU to learn spells.
-Rely on nearby players to change roles. When you want to find specific role like tank and healer, you gotta teleport to starter cities. Like, can the Mimicry skill can just shuffle BLU roles between tank/heal/dps when used and is disabled in-combat to prevent exploitation?
-There should rewards that associated to the number of dungeon you finish for dungeon logs. There are titles, yes, but titles are just titles. I want something more... materialistic, like minions, cards, mounts, or even new spells!
-Some contents prove to be not BLU-friendly. Seat of Sacrifice cannot be done by BLU due to their lack of tank's Limit Break to shield against the raid-wiping attack. No, Diamond Back + Mighty Guard does jack against this, cuz this attack is LB-gated. This makes you wonder why SE doesn't just give BLU role-based Limit Break so that they can deal with such contents. Or at least just BLU tank's LB regardless of roles.

The deep dungeon ideas are pretty top shelf.
Probably the best way to make blue mage worth it would be to focus more on newer limited jobs as more of a thing.. Ardmore limited jobs in add different tiered content for those as a whole

In order for Bluemage to be allowed into regular content, you'd have to eliminate all 100%moves, like deep freeze , ultravibrstion, missle, death, %damage. You would also have to eliminate "big moves" like suprkhanna, apocaptusis, bad breath, anything with 400 potency and above.

My biggest issue was a lack of flow with the job. So many spells that are just replaced with a better bigger spell.
If they wanted a full class, id give it the monster category strength and weakness thing from ffxi. Revamp it and give each ability a category. Maybe some spells get combos for following up with a different category. Using certain spells in a combo can buff it or give passive traits that we had in ffxi.
Have certain spells only attainable from the job quests, primals, or dungeons. Dungeons especially to help populate earlier content.

Blue mage deep dungeon is LIT!
And wishful thinking, but would love it to be a full job with how it works now, but nerfed of course to be viable in current content. Still spell hunting as part of the job, but faster leveling like it is now. So to offset the slower spell gathering so that its about the same time to get from 1 till max level and skills. Also that it remains viable as tank healer and dps like druid in WoW.

I'd like to hear how Blue Mage could be implemented as a standard job that wouldn't make it lose its identity. I'd be curious to hear how it could be, if anyone has any ideas. Do people want it to be just like Dragoon or Black Mage, just with different ability names?

The hunt for new spells is what I find the most fun about Blue Mage, but once that is done, there isn't much left to do outside of the Masked Carnival, which they only gave one additional stage to this time around and the log. I feel that they should just make Blue Mage a standard class. Make it so that Aetheric Mimicry sets the role until the player decides to change it so that Blue Mages can access the duty roulette.
I would love a Blue Mage Deep Dungeon, but given that most players don't touch the limited job system as is and the rather somewhat lackluster additions to Blue Magic, I think the best thing to do is for them to move Blue Mage to be a normal job now.

I really enjoy blue mage, but I agree they need to get way more serious about adding additional content. There should have been a minimum of 5 new carnivale stages added.
I think the idea of a blue deep dungeon is brilliant, or maybe a variant dungeon where you have to use specific skills to unlock paths. They could easily do a 30 path variant dungeon where you unlock paths by hydro pulling a wall, or lightning striking a pole to charge up a device.
Theres a lot of room for creativity, and further paths could be added in future patches. It would also be a great opportunity for lore. Like the variant dungeon could be a lost ruin near the Whalaqee tribe and each new path you finish could give a totem for a spell. That would be a great incentive to run them all.

I think a solution to this would be like roulettes. Like say you start a roulette with BLU equipped you get paired with 3 other blu’s doin the same thing. Maybe you even queue as a role type via that one spell. Or maybe make blue mage an opt in option for peeps to use (or just make blue mage a real class and a limited class at the same time, give them a button to swap between true mage and coop mage)

What could make Blue Mage more fun:
    (1) Add a Blue Mage category in the Party Finder which only covers Blue Mage content(asking for help getting spells, doing raids, doing the Blue Mage Log, etc), this would make it so much easier to get people to help with Blue Mages getting spells. I hate having to wait for hours for a Level 90 to accept my party finder request to just get some stupid Sharpened Knife skill.
    (2) Raise the level cap so that Blue Mage has the same level cap as everyone else. Being ten levels lower is a pain in the arse and I see no reason why Blue Mage can't do Endwalker stuff like everyone else.
    (3) Allow Blue Mage to participate in Eureka and Bozja. I'd love to see how fast a party of Level 90 Blue Mages could clear Delibrium Reginae. ^_^
    (4) Give the Blue Mage a Masked Carnivale Echo ONLY FOR THE FIRST CLEAR OF BOSS ENCOUNTERS RELATED TO THE BLUE MAGE QUESTS!!!! I am annoyed that I can't beat Azulmagia because his third phase's meteor is too fast for me to react to and I get KO'd. I am only asking that Blue Mage gets uber powers only in these boss fights(Azulmagia, Seigfried, Gogo and Goldor) only for the first fight because you need to clear these fights to complete the Blue Mage quest. I know I am being anal here and need to "git guud" but I'm sure I'm not the only one who could never finish the Blue Mage Level 50 quest because of Azulmagia having three phases. :(

Blue mage is the most fun job in the game. While more carnivale would be great really the blue log and the extremes/raids are exactly perfect for blue mage. Really the reason this update was unfortunate was because they didn't put in the effort to allow us to do SOS and excluded us from Memoria.
Doing all parties of Blue makes the fights so wacky and the spells are fun to mess with. They got it right with the job heck the best title in the game comes from blue. I think they need to let blue into Ults because messing with them at hard content has been amazing.

It should at least be able to enter deep dungeon right now and they can exclude it from 'normal job' achievements. That wouldn't be hard to program at all but they would need to decide whether they have a pre-selected default load out of spells you get or if it would allow you to gain spells at certain level intervals based on our own person load out at the time of entering. Or they could have a mode of each type and maybe even random spell load outs for achievements.

my problem with BLU was that it felt too limited. i think it would have been much better if they let BLU match the current level cap, but just give them the spells a lot later (not like we usually learn them until we hit cap anyway), and also allow BLU to take part in raid/ultimate content - maybe except the latest tier (cos balance), or just not allow the party to get any rewards if they do clear with a BLU in tow. that way maybe people might bring BLU for learning runs or something. giving people that option is nice.
i'd also love to see BLU in deep dungeon. they might be too broken in foray content like Eureka/Bozja, but its probably worth putting them into V&C which really dont have much longevity or community building capability.

thank you Mr happy. ya, love hate for me. did it, because Im a completionist, but haven't gone all the way (raids etc) I struggled to get past go-go for the card.. still 3 cards away from jack of all cards, but I did eventually get past go-go. like 50 pulls.. but Im old and slower than many players. i suppose, despite being a solo thing, to go far with it, ya kinda need a regular play group like collection of like minded. feels gimmicky, still. some interesting ideas you shared. we'll see. blu is very niche content though.

What I would like BLU to have is the ability to actually queue for dungeons and raids without the need for pre-made party. They should make it so that when you queue up with BLU you will ONLY be grouped up with other BLU. I mean they already have several options for when you queue up so why not that? Heck, make it so that you'll only need one other BLU, which should also be possible as I recall there was a Valentine's Day group event where you needed one other player.

  • @CRAM079
    @CRAM079 Год назад

Just make it a standard job with its job quests being you have to fight these monsters to get the spells you need. You can also fight other monsters to get optional spells that fall into a standard spell template. Like you get standard single target DPS spells from the job quests, along with standard AOE spells. But if you want different flavors or different effevts then you can optionally go out and get them yourself.
or you can have it so the progression for BLU is the same as it is now. But in order to do normal party content you cant Q if you dont have certain bare minimum spells learned. and have those spells scale to the dungeon level like weapons and player levels do.
there are tons of ways to make it into a full job without removing the "integral" aspects of said job.

I wish i could at least do story solo with it, like with trusts and such
Currently its not worth it, its a sick monkeys paw wish that has poisoned my favorite job in the series.
You cant use it in literally the only content in the entire game that uses the element system, cant use it in the solo frendly comtent like deep dungeons, cant use it in solo instanced content, cant use it in content that doesnt require 7 other BLU characters who are of appropriate level, spell collection, knowledge/skill, and basic INTEREST to do, of the things that are in your available level range (see: so ancient and done to death that basic interest is a real issue)
And the in-house content is literally just a small source of secondary currencies and tomestones and nothing else.
Imagine if it had been tied to something like hunt mobs to try and inject some life and population into a pre-existing secondary content (that isnt one of the aforementioned already hard-banned content lile eureka and deep dungeons)

With "broken" spells that are divided between seven flavors of identical damage, debuffs that everything is immune to, or will instantly become immune to due to 14's combat system and status effects
But since its techically in the game now (having been literally the most requested job by a wide margin prior) they dont ever have to make it work or do jack fucking anything with it, because its in the game now, you cant ask for more

The issue to me is that BLU doesn't satisfy any groups needs. Its not a puzzle minigame, its not really solo, its locked out of hardcore content, its locked out of unique content (Eureka, Bozja, Variant etc.), it has very few collectibles behind it.... so who is it serving?
My personal opinion would be to make it more casually soloable (since thats where the game is heading anyway) and do away with the group aspect as much as possible. Use it to open up things like Eureka and Bozja after their expansion has ended (i.e. on release you have to do those areas with unlimited jobs, then by the end of the next expansion, it should be available to BLU/limited jobs). It'd breathe life into those contents, which largely feel impenetrable to most new players. That would serve the widest variety of players I think, and keep with the design philosphy of it being 10 levels under cap.
But even if they don't want it to be just solo content, at least pick a direction and lean into it. Make it THE reason you level BLU. Right now, most people who level it are doing it simply because its there, not because they're wholly invested (even if they want to be, or are trying to be). Make it THE way for collectors to get glam accessories. Make it THE puzzle minigame with the Masked Carnivale. Make it THE way to do something.
