21:10 the spell name is called "Bristle" and the effect is "Boost" - just as a heads up for any other dummies like me who got it from the first boar but didn't check the skill effect and kept farming for an hour lol

@@oklimbo That's why I pinned this. That's my mistake not yours. I didn't even notice I said Boost. i just kept thinking about how I needed like 30 kills and getting angry about it and just... didn't hear myself speak wrong.

@@WeskAlber bruh I went from 22 to 50 on blue mage today and I'm not kidding that I was listening to this for hours, rewinding to the same spot after Martyn asked for Faze repeatedly. I think I somehow hoped I was doing something wrong between around 30 and 50 cuz uhhh... LMAO.
Thanks for the upload though, for real. I would have def lost motivation and given up again without the evidence that it's possible solo being literally right in my face.

very important note for anyone who sees this comment For Diamondback, he is not talking about "Final Steps of Faith" he is talking about a trial called "Steps of Faith" that no longer exists, as it has been replaces with a solo duty you can't easily repeat so stone vigil hard is currently your best option for Diamondback

I so appreciate you and the work that it took to make a guide like this. I swear, the Blue Mage guides I see on RUclips all start and end with "Yo get a friend and cheese it like this" and it's so frustrating they don't even bother going into how to do it Solo and when you ask it's just "Yo it's easy to get a friend just do that."
You actually put in the work. I can tell it was tedious, but it's SO appreciated, dude.

Quick tip for the level 40 to level 45 grind if you're doing Mor Dhona; if you go to around X: 12 Y: 11, there are two Lentic Mud Puppies within a couple seconds' walk of each other with really high respawn speeds. Assuming you're using Thousand Needles, by the time you finish killing one of them the other will have respawned or be just about to respawn. You can basically just go back and forth between them almost instantly and grind out XP a lot faster than you could by running around the area.

I found the level 70 dungeons ok for soloing, the only boss that gave me a bit of a headache was Myst Dragon in the Burn because I was clumsy with timing at first. I think this was a great guide! It lines out everything someone who'd casually like to run through content like this and get to the end of the storyline smoothly. BLU has definitely been some of the greatest solo content I've ran; nothing quite makes me as excited as solo fights like Castrum Fluminis, Deltascape 1, and Sigmascape 1. Nothing quite like barely beating a boss's enrage and learning a skill from it.

A tip for learning skills that you need your chocobo to tank for (e.g. Final Sting): Start the fight with a non-damaging spell, like the Role Spell "Addle". Then just sit back and let your birdy do all the work. It will be easy for him to take aggro, even if he's not built as a tank, since you haven't actually done any damage yet to compete with him for it.

Thanks for the Blue Mage guide, Wesk. I might try solo leveling my new character in Blue Mage when I get my PS5 and upgrade FFXIV to the PS5 version, since the trophy list for that is much less grindy. :)

Even better for grinding is Sticky Tongue, which is available from Cane Toads in the level 2 FATE "You Call That a Toad?" in Lower La Noscea. If you see it's up while you're in the zone as a BLU, ALWAYS go get it.

When you start farming 60-70 with Ultravibration, I found out you can just queue into normal Ifrit solo unsynced, kill him in 1-2 spells, and when you exit your CD is reset. Takes about 20-30 sec, but way better than 2 minutes. My only issue was finding enough mobs to kill since I was killing faster than they would spawn, which is admittedly a good problem to have.

@@lemonton the benefit though is that you can get eruption from ifrit. it's a low drop chance unsync'd but you'll get it by the time you're done leveling. saves the time so you don't have to find a group or spam later.

I only started FFXIV about a month ago and now got Blue Mage to 50 solo including doing Tam-Tara and Aurum. Also just did Ifrit synced to get Eruption. It is really a fun and powerful class. Next step now will be that Carnival. ^^

Btw, if you want to quickly reset the CD on thing like Ultravibration you can join an instance and instantly leave.

At a very low level, you can get the Brass Blade by the west entrance to Little Ala Mihgo to fight the Sabotender for you. There's a Bailaor by that guard, pull it, run back to the guard. The sabo should deagro, but the guard should agro it, then just run spam water cannon while the guard kills it for you. From there, learn 7 more spells for Mighty Guard and off you go(You'll get Off-guard free at 5 spells known).
And then a little tip for when you get to 44+ mobs is agro them by auto attacking. 44+ mobs have over 2k hp and the initial auto-attack will get your chocobo attacking immediately instead of waiting on your 1st cast to complete and will help ensure that even if your chocobo heals you, it will do enough damage to save you a 3rd cast. Also by autoing before your cast, the mob won't decide to walk away from you while casting needles...
Also, once you get 50/60, remember you can save on Poetics/optimize your substats by mix and matching poetics gear and coil/alex gear. The final raids are easy enough to solo at 90 and this will definitely cut down the amount of poetics grinding you might have to do.
I also recommend doing as much of your spell learning after your initial 10 for Mighty Guard at 49/59 as 49-50 and 59-60 are the worst levels to get solo and the free bonus XP from learning can break up the monotony. The XP you get from learning scales with level so might as well do it when leveling is at its worst.

crossworld parties also work for BLU level cheesing, just in case you still wanna have access to party chat. if you wanna make your party a crossworld party just put it up on party finder and then cancel the pf recruitment, it'll still stay crossworld.

Thanks for putting this guide together! It's been very frustrating trying to find a decent guide to leveling Blue Mage and where to learn spells. Almost everything I've seen online has been completely useless, at best just a list of all the Blue Magic spells with no regard for the order you could realistically learn them as you level up. The best one I could find was still kind of bad, as I had to scroll past pages of material to find the actual learning order. Incidentally, it is completely missing Basic Instinct (I used Ctrl+F on the page, it literally is not mentioned anywhere in the guide), so that is the kind of "quality" that is out there.
Although, Basic Instinct doesn't seem like it would help that much as long as you are using 1000 Needles for damage and White Wind for healing. Both of those spells do their standard amount, regardless of any buffs. I got through Tam Tara without it, anyway, although the movement speed increase would have been very nice.

    • @WeskAlber
      @WeskAlber  2 года назад +1

You're confusing quality with "release date." Basic Instinct didn't exist until they increased BLU's level cap.

This guide has been super helpful. My only thing i wish was added is exact locations for some of the targets for learning skills or grinding levels. Its hard to see the map co-ords and some of the areas are huge to search
EDIT: Turns out i had the video quality really low at 360 for some strange reason. Maxing it allowed me to see mini map coords

I discovered this roation by accident. In the level 48-50 area (Bluefog) if you put Toad Oil on yourself, then apply Bad Breath to the target they have a low chance of hitting you, even if you stand in their AoE. I then apply Bristle then Drill Cannon( if you have it already) and reapply Bad Breath as needed. Toad Oil lasts 2 minutes.
