- Dr. Eric Laywell, Associate Professor at the Florida State University College of Medicine, discusses the pathway and function of the often confusing cranial nerve VII, aka the Facial Nerve. Dr. Laywell explains the four different types of innervation this nerve encompasses and demystifies the series of bony tunnels it traverses.

Videos like this for each of the cranial nerves would save medical students endless hours who really want to learn the whole picture of cranial nerve anatomy! Please please please consider doing a video for each nerve :)
this is more beautiful than the miracle of life
i'm watching this to figure out one specific thing, but as i watch the video i'm like "damn this is the best thing ive ever seen in my life"

I've watched this video time and again. Such a quick, crystal clear way to revise the basics. Please make more!
Videos like this are the best gift for a med stu .
Please please please make more of them , we really need a 3D and animated study of anatomy .
Please upload other cranial nerves if you have. This is one of the best animations videos I have seen on the internet thus far. The quality of drawing, depicting, and explaining really helped me out and I know many others are looking for external resources for help. You would really be paying it forward for future physicians or science lovers :) Thanks
The animation is fantastic, you managed to specify most of it in a 7-minute video is appreciable.
All these videos are absolutely amazing! A new way of teaching and learning Anatomy, that sometimes makes me crazy! I'm looking forward to see new videos about cranial nerves!
Please make more videos like this, with this level of animation. It is amazing!!!

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT
The animation is amazing! I've lost so much hair looking at static images and reading anatomical text!
Thank you so much sir, for clearing our concepts that's too in 3D view .It will make us to learn things in a better way and for long time .Also It makes us to realize that how complex is our body but very easy to learn with such a beautiful and outstanding graphics in your vedio with the proper explanation which is more than sufficient to clear our concepts. 👍
This video saved like 3 hours of studying, highly appreciated❤
YES YES YES! THANK YOU! This is soooo satisfying; you wouldn't even know the amount of pleasure this gave me.

It must have taken quiet an effort
Thank you so much for making it easier 💜
wow, so nicely drawn. and I never understood it so well when I was a firstie learning anatomy from the sand dry books.
amazing. such a joy to watch. i love hand drawn anatomy! keep it up guys :]
"Dream of facial nerve anatomy comes to reality " thanks a lot
I loved this presentation, thank you.. I'd like to clear a thought of mine in reference to the General Sensory Afferent .. I thought its 2nd order neurons were located in the Pons' principal trigeminal nucleus, not in the nucleus of the Solitary Tract, used for taste.
This video is GOLD!!!!! EXCELLENT!!!!!
Thank you for making anatomy much easier!
The ones who discovered this YT channel are goddamn lucky! What a superb explanation!
Wow wth? A 6 minute video which says it all clearly? BRAVOO
The GSA behind the ear is clinically relevant. Bell's Palsy patients can feel sharp pain behind their ear because of it and it can lead to misdiagnosis
Too gud.... It's very much detailed and simple at the same time thank u....
Excellent. Congratulations to the entire team. Anatomy thanks
I had TN for 17yrs. in all 3 nerves, like having a baby through your nostril every 10 seconds. A ton of clueless docs & 2 Gamma Knife surgeries later - I'm good now! No meds helped... feet in hot water seemed to help temporarily. Crying made it worse.
Don't give up hope - believe you will beat this!!!
this is a blessing for a medical student
This is very helpful, thank you so much!
Awesome vedio..tysm! I realized my nerves practically!..it's gives interest to learn...ty..

Incredible video thank you so much
what a quality ! I am glad I live in 2022
phenomenal..loved it
Hello and wonderful presentation. Very educational! I had a question about the accuracy though. According to Board Review Series of NeuroAnatomy, it mentions that the facial nerve has 5 functional components and that fifth component is "GVA (General Visceral Afferent)" whose cell bodies originate in the geniculate ganglion and innervates the soft palate and adjacent pharyngeal wall. They also mention that THIS is the one that has no clinical relevance; not GSA. In your presentation, you said that the one without clinical relevance is GSA said at time 1:28 and 3:50). As you can see this doesn't add up. Could you comment if this is an error or clarify the role of GVA? Thanks!
Please make vedios for other cranial nerves too...thanks a lot for all the effort...🖤
learning with such quality is easy

thanks a lot
wow..cant believe fantastic
thanks a tonne !
Nerves are very sensitive so people who have these problem need an extra care to deal with especially the proper treatment.
Dr. Laywell... would you be interested in tackling Renal physiology and pathology? I feel like your style would really lend itself to that subject.
Thank you for the suggestion. We’re glad that you find our videos helpful. More content is coming soon, with an emphasis on anatomical and embryological concepts that we include in our first-year medical courses. However, we do envision eventually including system-specific concepts, as you suggest.
Amazing video of facial nerve anatomy, beyond my expectation.
So helpful 😍❤
At its best🙌
Please upload the CN V, Please please please!
holy shit this is good!!!
i agree now that science is an art... haha
