Finally a film that's just plain entertaining. Beautiful execution and everyone brought their A game to the table. Even Yogi Babu scores with his comedy! The cinematography and art direction is sure to win many awards. This is an all out fun film. Going to watch it again soon! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@tamizhanpride6334 - He is generally pretty cringe these days..too much of the self depreciating comedy thats done and dusted. At least no one mentioned his frizzy hair or how he looks like a monkey or whatever! We don't need that kind of joke anymore.
This is a shocking review by a seasoned person like Bharadwaj Rangan. I agree to the fact that the concept could have been made into a better screenplay. However, we cannot deny the fact that the team has given amazing theatrical experience to all viewers and surely the movie was refreshing. I am sorry to say that BR seemed a bit biased in this video.
We watched it with family and loved it. Enjoyed both first part and second part. I felt a common man would repeatedly try till end to get out of this situation and that made it more realistic to me. Huge shout out to Shiva for accepting this character where he became an actual hero only at the very last minutes of movie. ❤❤❤
Watched it tonight & didn't expect much (considering my history with SK films recently) but, I was genuinely surprised for how fresh, enjoyable and smart the film was. My bad for assuming before I watched the film. SK was fantastic and I love how there was actual good comedy in the film for a change. Time flew by the 1st half and the climax seemed a bit far fetched, but I still prefer to suspend my disbelief for a film like this over something that tries to preach without quality.
BR liked pathan but not maaveeran. He talks so much about writing but maaveeran is one of the best written movie. He is becoming increasingly biased nowadays. Madonne ashwin is one of the brilliant directors out there.
I who watch Marvel n DC movies was very proud to watch our very own version of comic strip made into a superhero movie.. Can proudly say that we hv our own superhero movie... Of course the second half couldave been better but I'm have the patience to watch the hero n political villain fight bcz of watching all vijay ajith movies.. If I can watch those with no novelty I can definitely watch this movie with a new idea... All that stays in my mind is the novelty in story.. Comedy.. And infused messages about the jobs going to North indians n the politics in providing standard less houses for replacing ppl from their own place... This movie is truly a mixture of many things... So I definitely am game for this movie
BR.... what the hell is wrong with you these days? This movie was made better than PoS-1 and PoS-2 (pun intended!) by Maniratnam who took an epic and made it as cringe as possible!!
Absolutely loved everything about the movie.. so happy to see a good Superhero movie
Pros:
Yogis quirkiness, Saritha apt for the role, SK got better n connects well, VJS dubbing sets comic book reading exactly. Plot and some scenes are very well executed and did not dramatised.
CON: cliches like child getting trapped, Resurrection scenes, couple of fight sequences. Could have trimmed 30 mins easily.
Overall a great watch from an immensely talented director.
I am not sure if am aligned with BR on the generic treatment.. i felt the whole movie had a very organic transition of SKs character and indeed it does need time if it has to transition organically. I loved many scenes post interval too. I loved the bit of VJSs voices and none of them sounded redundant or unnecessaru for the scene or story lrogression.
Of course.. second half needs it's length for his organic transition into real valor.. otherwise it would be like

Totally disagree with the review of BR. I really liked the movie. It was thoroughly entertaining. Only the climax girl rescue could have been written differently. I think BR cannot connect with these types of comedy. That's why he is unable to appreciate the movie. The contract signing scene where yogi writes kumar in Tamil and adds a line on top to make it Hindi was brilliant comedy

Sure it could have been better, but it was a laugh riot in the theatres so I am ready to overlook certain things...
Absolutely enjoyed the movie. The writing has Kafka-esque brilliance that juxtaposes the constraints of real world heroism with the super hero sensibilities of the comic world. As BR observes, a big let down is the grand finale which, like a bad dessert at a Michelin restaurant, was so not expected!

I agree everything you said about 2nd half. But you could've given more points for Yogi Babu's comic timing. Especially in the 1st half. Except interval action scene and fight at Mysskin's house other fight scenes felt forced and generic. For such a unique premise the director could've thought of more riveting scenes instead of placing fights. Also the child rescuing scene in the climax, eventhough it completes the arc of Sathya into a complete hero, looks very clichéd.
I don’t completely agree. Same ppl would have said it’s a regular story where hero suddenly become a bashing action hero hearing the voice . This is really a different realistic attempt. Probably the best movie in Siva career so far.

It is a fantastic movie , First super good second half is good too . Amazing script , director made SK to act naturally,its the best one in SK Career , awesome comedies matching script doesn't deviate . 100 crores confirmed

If we remember, Lokesh Kanagaraj has said to Mandonne to keep a specific and interesting scene as interval block but Mandonne did not accept that suggestion. Maybe that scene was SK's accident.

Baddie, may be few points could have been better but it worked for me.
It entertained so much and also gave me lot to think about.
What else do we need?
Everyone s complaining about the climax about rescuing the girl. But remember this scene was already shown in the movie as the first scene. Even the voice already told that the story will end where it began. I felt it is brilliant but not sure why everyone says climax is boring.
Watched it only today (11/08/23) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't laughed as much as this in any of the recent movies I have watched and SK's acting in my opinion is top notch. As usual only after watching the movie I watched your review and I understand where you're coming from.

It's not a negative review. He's just lamenting that a unique idea has been compromised a lot to meet the needs of a commercial Tamil entertainer.
Not really, perhaps Madonne would be happy that he added something to his CV that he can also create a commercial movie with his style of movie making.. Because to survive in the industry you also need a chunk of mass movies..
@@Wrc650sorry, but you don't have any idea about the Tamil cinema industry, Vetrimaran has been in the industry for more then 16 yrs and he is doing only what he desires currently every top actor is waiting for Vetrimaran dates even that includes Telugu stars , you don't need to do a commercial film to survive in the industry, and this film is Average duud which messed up with so called actor targeted Audience expectations 🤦♂️ Director like M.ashwin should jave a Clear view on who to cast for which film, even this film have a interesting starting idea but messed up due to the process of making SK the big thing

@@Wrc650 nope, You can't defend a shit like Maveeran for the sake of Survival in the industry, M.ashwin really messed this project and lost the respect and fame he earned in its first movie, which was true to reality and grounded, ok to give more examples there was this one Mari selvaraj he did his first movie Pariyerum permual, for next movie he did one of Tamil big star, it had both the commerical sensibility and art in a balanced manner but here Maveeran besides the plot it is major a let down in all department and over dramatic second half with no innovation in scene setup and complete set of cliched scenes from the 80's time

Maaveeran was AVERAGE at its best (first 45 minutes or so). Wonder what the hype was all about. Celebrating mediocrity has become the order of the social media era. Is it a comedy movie?! Are the audience supposed to feel sad for the hero while being a coward, happy when he becomes a superhero, and get scared of the villain? NONE DID HAPPEN! Even if you look at it from the "superhero" angle, it is just meh. Dragged too much in between. These so-called film makers and stars are just there to mint money using the audience's gullibility. It was surely somewhat better than, say, Beast / Vikram / Annaathe / ThuNivu etc. - the same nonsense with different "stars".
