that was awesome. 👍
Good run!! It's always good to try new stuff!!! Besides, you need some non wing practice before the Chili Bowl!! LOL
Looked like you were having fun there. LOL 🤣🤣🤣😆
The panels and whatnot are not about enclosing the cockpit they are about adding flat surface areas for side Force when cornering,
That looks fun! Great job!
How did Carly do?
See you in rbo this weekend
Me and my friends used to drive quartermidgets and were fans of your channel since 2020, ive never seen wingless outlawkarts though
looked like a blast and different car control technique... nice one.
he didnt have a wing he had a sail
The important thing, Tanner, is that you've learned that if you installed large side panel you should be able to smoke them in the non wing races as well, so that coupled with a 1st and a 2nd amounts to a successful experience. God Bless and stay safe.
The big side panels kinda remind of the old "wedge" late model things. I was maybe only 6-8 years old back when they used to run them sometimes here in Oregon, but they were basically late model looking things with seemingly unlimited aero, and often had giant plexiglass panels on the sides of them, some of them as tall as the catch fence at CGS. Some ran sprint car wings too.
Great to see you getting behind the wheel of different cars!
Its just another feather in your cap if you can conquer a wingless kart . You will learn better if you have a go at any form of racing , you'll get a better understanding of complete car control , well done mate Aussie Pete
You need to practice at home with the wing off…. But you still did good
we are gonna do this!
Cool Cool!!!!! Nice To See Blue Eyes.
hi Tanner can you tell me what gear size your running on the engine and the axle please . thanks love the videos so glad i found your channel .
They need a new page in the rulebook for sidepanels in the Non-Wing division.
Some of those panels are just goofy.
Whats the point of a Non-Wing class if you allow a giant rudder?
Fwiw, a good non wing setup will be a bigger benefit than a goofy sidepanel.
A Wing makes its downforce from the driver's side panel so to speak, or the panel that goes up in the form of side Force, what these big panels on the side are doing is just acting like a wing but not on top of the car, adding a s*** ton of side for switch you cannot get from it's set up..... Don't get me wrong I think a good setup is very very critical but when you can add a 2x2-ft section of panel and it do the same thing as adding a whole other tire on the car in the form of grip and downforce then yeah that's the quick easy way to go
I do agree. I think the panels gotta go. Non wing with no panels.
Looks like you had a bunch of fun, Kiddo.
What kind of crap is that big side board? I think you got kinda screwed out of that race. Nonwing is nonwing. The panels are like wing boards.
Yup exactly
Hmmm running a wing without a belly on that 8 car
It is just to catch air when sliding sideways.. allows you to "free up" the car.. and allow aero.. to tighten back up
Basically its a giant rudder, not dissimilar to the tail of an airplane.
Kinda defeats the point of “non wing”. That panel would not be allowed in any major non wing Sprint Car or Midget event, even weekly non wing Sprint car tracks in Indiana would not allow it.
Usually a “lip” of a 1/4”-1/2” is within the rules. That car had a good 6” of panel sticking out behind the cage.
It had a “run what yah brung” vibe to it where people get crazy when they don’t follow a specific set of rules.
Gotta keep doing this, also do non wing sprint cars
It’s kind of like we do in modified racing we build big sail panels to catch the air in the corner while it’s sideways because we have no spoiler so it helps catch the air and give it a smooth run off and creating downforce of sorts
Real race cars ,don't have doors or wings
