I don't think Logan ever intended for any of his kids to take over. Sure it would have been nice if one of them would have emerged as a true leader. But as his ex wife Caroline said," he never saw anything he loved that he didn't want to kick. Just too see if it would come back." To me he just wanted his kids to want his approval and fight each other for his affection.
I agree, the way he raised them was their downfall, it was always a competition between the three of them. Shiv lived up to her name, taking away Kendall’s chances of being top dog by changing her mind like Logan did to Kendall the pilot.
This video is completely wrong on the timing of events calling Tom bumbling but not describing Greg who IS?!! Shiv brought up the drowned waiter just to illustrate that Ken has SO much baggage with his personality, ambition and messed up sense of himself, and his abandoned family ( wife & kids) that he really DOES think its ALL about HIM. Lotsa cool stuff happeened just NOT the way this "Explanation" is decribing. Shiv ironically did Roman a solid which is why when she threw the life preserver to him in this drowning behemoth of a vessel called Waystar/Royco, he totally grabbed it LITERALLY instantly saying "right like SHE'S right and yeah you CAN'T and WHAT??......you NOW say you did that confession to bring us altogether. I mean how stupid, Ken then gets violent at Roman for the 2nd time that day. He was done before Shiv & Rome left that glass cubicle. Finished and not only as a SERIOUS PERSON. They will all love billlions of $$$ s ever after.
Shiv is not worse than the man who is complacent in someone's death and denies it while using it as a weapon to gather sympathy and she is not worse than the man whose ideal candidate is a Fascist, bullies little children and calls his brothers kids randos. The worst thing Shiv ever did was cheat on Tom and tell the sexual assault victim not to testify so she could save all their necks. But double standards right? They're all backstabbers and I'll say that everyone Shiv betrayed did it to her first.
Shiv made the smartest decission, she became the Queen instead of the sister of the King, she made millions off the sale of Waystar Royco, and by staying with Tom she still had the private jets, helicopters and other benefits she had before the sell of the company. She didn't stay with Tom because he was CEO, she had already asked him if they could work it out and give their marriage another shot before Tom got the CEO. position.
@@chiomawoherem4625 She made her pile of money, and she can still ride on the private jets, yachts, cars with drivers she was riding in before the sale of the company. Shiv won.
Maybe that's why they didn't kill Kendall off. The sibs and Connor all are still very rich, and can start companies or do whatever they want. It would be interesting to see.
Everyone else was right to not take Connor seriously. He was a joke. His run for president was ridiculous. It was just like everyone else's run for CEO. Roman realized that he was bullshit, but he was not smart enough to know how to not be bullshit. It was like Roman realized that everyone's attempts to become CEO of Waystar were as comical as Connor thinking he could be president.
Excuse me but framing Shiv as this sort of a "victim" of mIsOgYnY is just a pathetic attempt at scoring woke points. She is as coniving as the rest of them. Maybe even more. I don't understand this brain dead instisting of portraying women in movies or TV as "smartest", "victims", "stunning and brave"... She is a capital B and we love her character anyways.
Interesting to see what the 1% does. Other than that a depressing series. Most characters are to a point just ridiculous. Without the money very laughable
Gosh I hate this show! Everything in it is top notch, the actors, quality of the show in general, I binge watched season 1&2, wanting to love the show, or someone in it, or anything, but not a single character to relate to, to root for or even to find compelling, every last character is despicable, miserable, uninteresting & basking in self pity, everything I saw or read about it ever since I stopped watching made me glad I did, including this video 😅
Yeah, I still am not happy with the ending. They gave us a glimpse of the Roy family getting along continuign the family business, but now it was ruined before he got a chance to run it. Now with interviews from, its safe to say they arent happy with the ending as well. RIP
Indeed, Brian Cox even stated that he didn't think that Logan had to die that early on in the season, though he ultimately respects Jesse Armstrong's vision for the show.
I think it ended exactly the way I imagined it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m ride or die team Kendall. I knew that he wasn’t going to get the power. I knew Shiv wouldn’t vote for him and I figured either Greg or Tom would become the puppet CEO.
Once again Kendall thought that it all should have been handed to him, no deals with anybody to get what he wanted, just hand him the position he thought he deserved. No consideration for the millions the share holders were going to lose just so he could be the CEO. He didn't even offer any kind of deal to Shiv or Roman to compensate for the money they would lose, just so he could be CEO, a position the board could take away at anytime.
True. I also thought Kendall may have made it if he tried to make deals and offered his sibs a place of some kind of worth in the corporation. Why call it Succession if none of the children is the successor? The ending was pretty good, and a lot was left open ended. Sequel? Movie in a few years?
Yeah did not like the ending. The show is suppose to be about what kid is going to end up with the Company. Not some side character. Just like John Snow/Bran
Who ever said it was supposed to be one of the kids? It was implied throughout the whole series anyone can take it. Logan even offered it to holly hunters character at one point and she didn’t even work for the company
It was going to be Gerri for years. Her name was on the paperwork. The first episode, Kendall is "supposed" to be announced as the future CEO but Logan says no. Because he loves his family more than business.
Think you missed the concept of the show entirely then. It was never about one of them running the company , the show was to highlight how toxic they all were due to their shitty dad and how they all just end up as terrible rich people.
@@SuperSnaketooth I thought it was a little lackluster. Because none of them got the company at the end And none of them learned anything from the experience. That's why I gave it a C+ but I did like the characters and their dynamic
@@EddieShotCaller21 I can definitely see that, but then i also feel that was the point of the whole series. It was Logan trying to tell them that they are nobody’s and are not serious people. Or he would say things like “you’re not a killer” at the end Roman was the only one who could see what his dad was trying to say. Earlier in the series he said “smart people know who they are” and Roman said at the end “we’re BS”
@@Mr---mr4ll I love breaking bad don’t get me wrong, but succession’s dialogue is better, and the acting is better. Shiv never deserved it. Kendall was close to be CEO.

This framing of Shiv's motivations is disingenuous. She's as bad if not worse than her brothers.

I liked the view into their wild wealth! But if I had to live with such tenderness, what good is it to be on a yacht? Or the Hamptons, or Barbados....
Right Roman is the redemption of the Roy clan. I grew up in this family but without the money
