I will stand by the opinion that this is the best final boss theme of any game (I consider the Overseer to be Ark's 'final' boss if we don't include DLC). Incredibly powerful opener with the monstrous brass and choir, and the insane beat drop at 0:26. The drums are absolutely incredible, and the 'whirling sound' at 0:38 is so good at building tension. The descending bits with the strings at 1:54 and 2:06 also sound great, with the sudden tone shift at 2:12 going into game's main (leitmotif?) giving the fight a sense of power and safety almost to the player. Then, my favorite part at 2:40 crushes that feeling with such a raw and desperate sound to it with the strings, building into 3:10 with the brass and choir joining in. Really builds that sense of urgency as if resources are running out. After tons of time taming and breeding my dinos on the Island, I went into the alpha tek cave with 22 tames. After losing 3 Rexes to the cave, I went into the alpha Overseer with 19 tames. Beating the alpha Overseer was on par with some of the most epic moments I've ever had in gaming. One of the moments you don't expect, and then can't explain why. But it felt like an enormous accomplishment like in older days playing older games. That alone is more than enough reason to fight him. Another good reason is that he spawns megalosaurs inside the wall of the Tek Cave that only come out when you're dismounted and then rip you to shreds.
After 6 years of off and on playing this game and usually just screwing around with making a kick ass base, catching dinos like Pokémon and cursing the creation of troodons, I finally beat this thing last night. Never expected an epic orchestral song to accompany what is essentially a floating symbol. Then again I went in that fight not knowing what to expect and just relied on my bear to watch my back.
In the beginning of the song, you can hear all of the island boss's song's beginning stings. The broodmother's strings, the dragons horn instruments, and the megapithecus's even louder horn. Really nice touch.
@TheRealMinzblatt _ That damn dragon still haunts everyone despite being one of the first. If they threw that dragon in against say a titan, I’d have some money on that dragon.

If not, I didn’t bother. In fairness though I’m a new player who has only played on the Island. I keep myself spoiler free as much as possible so I didn’t know about the source of the drops until I beat the Overseer last night. My motivation? Man this theme is so damn atmospheric and perfectly composed, the way the dramatic "welcome to the most important fight in the game" Storm Trooper march esque opening sounds out, to the start of the action sequence at 0:25 when you'd be first learning what this bamf can do. Then the shift in pace at 1:23 and the continuing section there sort of like you're noticing the way the overseer's shield morphs down and he becomes vulnerable. But I gotta say my favorite bit of the action sequence is 2:12, when the intense DUN DUNs suddenly switch to a more focused drum beat, one with more of a relaxed anthem style, as if the theme is trying to tell you to regain your breath and have confidence. Nothing comes close to the climax at 11:15 though as the Overseer falls and the music flows through to the one of the most emotional moments I've experienced at 11:30...where you see the system come alive and you have time to notice the view. You wind down to look out at the ARKs and then you experience it; ASCENSION. ARK may not be a very well constructed game in regards to performance and balance, but the plot, the way the game makes you feel like YOU alone decide YOUR fate in the story...the atmosphere, the music all combined makes it such a good game.
and then the people who just don´t give a fuck on the story, but on the gameplay like me xD if the gameplay is shit but the story a masterpiece than why the fuck do you play the game. Me and a few friends fought this guy on alpha, 1 immediately died and another got focused on by so many defense, it was so hard for us, we weren’t prepared very well
Same thing happened to me with my party. Thought we were more than prepared for the alpha fight had mutated Rexes, brought many med brews and calien soups, brought fur armor, and my health still went down!? A few others in my party died too.
Well. This is reassuring. I’m doing this on alpha solo soon... yeah. I have a plan and everything, but I have a feeling that I’m opening up a new and fresh hell for myself. Plan is 2 Daeodons so I can heal everything up after being weakened by the tek cave, a bunch of rexes as main damagers, a bunch of Therizinos specifically for the Overseer’s Dragon Transformation, A shit ton of Allos if I’m ever forced to fight a giga under the circumstance that I can’t lure it into lava. Definitely losing a ton of Allos, but at least they’ll deal a percentage based bleed attack with their gnash, as a shoot at the giga from behind with a tek saddled rex. Still debating if I should bring a Yutyrannus though. Reasons for not bringing one is because if I were to, I’d have to use that to crowd control all of the defense units. Yutyrannus just die super fast if they’re not being piloted. The Yutyrannus’ attack speed is just too slow! I need something more versatile with more DPS. At least the tek saddle rex has an AOE splash damage ranged attack, and a faster attack speed. I just don’t know dude. Frankly, the Overseer fight is all about crowd controlling against the Defense units before they overwhelm you. Any advice? Lol
I did mythic raiding and pvp on a highend on wow and csgo. My proudest accomplishment in gaming was killing the overseer on official pvp servers (official server 1). Building up with a mega tribe during the wonky early days where getting to the boss was 80 percent of the battle. Sons of batman represent
Oh goodness, I had 8 therizinos in here with me. I brought like 37 into the cave, but they all went for a swim. Fighting this boss with the music in the backround was almost too good to be a game
Awe some yeah but its more terrifying if a group of rexes come as well as the 400+ giga at the end (i play w/ really high difficulty and high dino damage)
lol yea theres also a giga in mid of the cave path but last giga stand on a thin bridge... and unlike rex giga doesnt give fore time to run while he roars that giga eat ya head as soon as he can...
I did the overseer today , lost about half my Rexes and the pig in tek cave. In the fight everything died but I had brought a good shotgun, I eventually ran out of bullets and the boss had about 10,000 health left. I then finished it with my acendent metal sword even though I thought it wouldn’t work It’s a Mirical that I won Dose anyone agree
I can feel you. I had a very similar experience. Lost half of my Dinos in the cave, lost all but three during the fight in single player mode. I fought with my rocket launcher until I ran out of ammo. I fought with my assault rifle until I ran out of ammo. I fought with my shotgun until I ran out of ammo. I fought with the Tek Rifle for some of the rest, sometimes with my spear, sometimes I’d leap aboard one of the surviving Rexes. It was an absolute mess of a fight and I’m surprised that I eventually wore it down. But the music kept me pumped. It was like something primal inside me awoke. It whooped when my rockets slammed into the Overseer, and snarled in defiance when a tame went down. I actually yelled out loud when I eventually won. 10/10, would fight again. And in Scorched Earth, Abberation ect, I probably will from the sounds of things. But I think I understand. It was just testing me. It clearly watched me fight the guardians. It let me explore the station before the fight. And it seemed to show me the truth of the Arks before I ascended. The whole thing from the Artifacts to the fights were to test if I was strong enough to survive. I have a few preparations to make first, but soon I will be off to Scorched Earth to face the next test.
@@omgitschris That truly sucks and I’m honestly sorry to hear that. You can compensate for it at least in terms of ancesion and whatnot in single player with admin commands but not being able to do the boss fights sucks. My Ark game tends to crash when I exit single player mode, losing up to 20min of time. It can also occasionally happen when teleporting into a boss fight. So I use the admin command to force save before I do, just in case. Admincheat saveworld, the only thing I don’t consider cheating for me. This might sound dumb but have you tried helping your Xbox cool? Place an air conditioner along the intakes and setting the air conditioner to cold? I don’t know if I’d do this without more research but even setting up ice blocks and a fan directed at the intakes?
For such a difficult boss battle it's actually pretty easy to cheese! All you need is a full set of tek armor, ascendant shotgun, over 1000 shells, lots of element, and plenty of healing brew and food and drink! When the battle begins, just hover over the arena and stay there! The ground drones won't be able to touch you (the air drones still can but they're fairly squishy so its no big deal)! Most of the overseer's attacks won't hurt you either (except for the stun laser you have to dodge)! Just keep flying and shooting the overseer with your shotgun! This will take a long time, but you will not need any dinos at all! It's very possible to do! Good luck!
I sort of wish I knew that before I fought him last night. But then I would have deprived myself of one epic fight and a hard won victory that made me yell out loud in pure primal satisfaction when I finally took him down with four surviving tames, a little bit of element and several ammo drained weapons.

That alone is more than enough reason to fight him. Another good reason is that he spawns megalosaurs inside the wall of the Tek Cave that only come out when you're dismounted and then rip you to shreds.
And… he’s there. Waiting for you. He doesn’t think you’re strong enough. Prove him wrong. Show him what you’re made of.

You need beast carnivores that’s the strategy
Any advice? Lol

I did the overseer today , lost about half my Rexes and the pig in tek cave.
In the fight everything died but I had brought a good shotgun, I eventually ran out of bullets and the boss had about 10,000 health left.
I then finished it with my acendent metal sword even though I thought it wouldn’t work
It’s a Mirical that I won
Dose anyone agree
Fuck yeah, that must’ve been one hell of a kickass fight.

Good luck!
Syntac moment.
I sort of wish I knew that before I fought him last night. But then I would have deprived myself of one epic fight and a hard won victory that made me yell out loud in pure primal satisfaction when I finally took him down with four surviving tames, a little bit of element and several ammo drained weapons.
