I appreciate your disciplined open-mindedness, it gives value to your opinions. Here in Poland, everyone I know who's got an opinion on the US/China debate is generally unwilling to be charitable to the other side, which is just intellectually dishonest. I might lean pro-China, but I don't think the US deserves ALL the criticism it receives, and this works both ways.
I found your story of the airport very concerning... I thought America wanted to put in at least some effort to combat Covid but it seems that too was just another lie and their effort is literaly 0 it seems? Great I can see yet another mutation coming... Well if this continues at least we will not have to worry about overpopulation soon anymore lol... PS and pardon I will have to correct what I said in the chat: I just checked the population for Germany and it´s *down, again,* to 83 million(for 2020) this time, down from 84,7 million in 2019 which effectively means covid and its various mutations have already cost us 1,7 million lives in Germany alone. Oh and speaking of this topic: I just heard that for the first time in over 2 decades McDonalds is actualy having a problem finding workforce. And the lame excuse of: "Oh the people rather sit on their 300 dollar monthly payment" is so BS because first of all, these payments don´t occur anymore since months and secondly, 300 is not even enough to feed your family let alone pay the rent, this statement is just utter BS and a very pathetic and desperate attempt to mask the cold hard truth that covid already killed well over a hundred million people globaly(do the math, given that except China covid is everywhere and most people had it twice by now and the death rate is 1,4%, we can confidently say hence well over a hundred million people by now, and countries here and there suddenly missing a few hundred thousand or million people is a direct result of that. 1.4% is not much and for now most people won´t really notice the effect, this will however change if the pandemic is not put under control). Seing these new numbers and calculations , we even start to lack workforce now, we can be sure that it has by now reached a proportion of a few hundred millions and with each mutation and the pandemic not under control the number will climb up... But honestly at this point I really don´t care anymore, I will never forget how I was ridicilued for being 1 of the few and first people to take this seriously and wear a mask and everything. May they die, they had their chance, it´s better for the planet and ultimately for the human race anyway. I am beyond feeling empathy for these souls anymore. Biological iron rule: A speciess that grows too rapidly without any acting control mechanism sooner or later extincts itself. To think the human is any exception to this rule is pure and irrational arrogance. Thinking of this... lol if this trend continued we could be left with a very ironic and funny picture: If this keeps continuing at some point easily like with the black plague 60-90% of all mankind will be gone... well not quite, 60-90% minus 1,4 billion chinese... lmao this would mean the world would literaly be predominantly nearly all chinese only lmao. Lol maybe spreading this word around will give westerners more incentive to take this serious. Haha imagine telling them that if they continue the world will only be left with chinese xD Oh the irony lol.
I think most of western countries just gave up the management of the virus because the infected cases have been there for a long time, those governments and the people just used to it . And most importantly, business is the priority to the people in capitalist world. People won’t complain the results because the process has been “democratic “. People choose to accept what they want individually and responsible for themselves. In China, if 600000 deaths happened, Chinese people won’t accept the results and won’t forgive the CPC for sure , even the deaths of flooding in Henan province, people have accused the government all over the Chinese social media for a long time
I’m a guy who moved from China to America twenty seven years ago in 1994. The first impression of the States was like a paradise comparing to the backward China then. Over the years, I have seen the US with my own eyes, in my neck of the woods, moving along slowly but surely. Every few years when I traveled to China to see my family, I was always amazed by the speed the country moving forwards, with its own share of problems though. I love both countries. I do sense the gradual changes of mentalities in these two countries over the years. In China, people become more positive, more confident, more unified and less ideological. While in the US, people’s confidence, sense of humor and sense of righteousness are fading; ideologies have been playing ever bigger roles in society, which polarized the society as a result. I blame the media and politicians for the current situation in the US. In the first a couple of years after I moved to the States, I started to realize the media were fanning the ideological flame with sensationalism and judgmental self- righteousness shit, left and right. I knew then, in a couple of decades they were going to tear the society apart. Another reason why the US is become more polarized is that majority of politicians, especially those congressmen, have law background. In a lawyer’s mind, the world IS polarized - right or wrong/win or lose. This is how their minds work. They were trained that way. There is little middle ground. They too, bear the blame of polarizing the mass. In contrast to US, China’s officials mostly got some type of engineering or management background and moving up in a meritocracy system. Those people have a mentality of ‘system integration’. So, to them, the focus is to solve problems. They see everything as resources. ‘Right or wrong’ is less of a concern. That way, they have less barriers to get people to work together toward some common goals. So now the diverging of the two countries’ paths is so obvious and the results are so much different.
thanks for sharing those eperiences. I can confirm what you wrote about lawyers.. spent 6 years of my life at the university of Zurich studying law.. and once i was done, chose not to start working as a lawyer, become a DJ instead and move to thailand The reason for that was.. i started to study law becasue i cared for justice.. and thats not what our legal system is about. not at all. what i learned in that time, is the law always can be interpreted in different ways. in theorie what a lawyer is trained to do is to interpret it the way it suits his customer. But in real life.. what makes a sucessful lawyer are connections. its all about who you know (specially judges) and what agreements you make and how much they benefit from helping you. And i think thats an other problem in the US (really just what i think, nothing i have evidence for). they have the political establishment who doenst care about anything else then their personal benefit. Choices are not made in the interest of the nation, but in the interest of those who make them profit the most (mosttly large corporations via lobbyists) I once came up with a saying: years ago when someone asked me whats the difference between china and the US. "in China the government controls corporations, in the US corporations control the government"
All those millions that die of Influenza every year, do you think you possibly might have committed 3rd or 4 degree manslaughter on some old grannie you coughed next to on the train at some point in your life?
Way before Covid19, I worked extensively in Asia . My Asian coworkers sometimes would sometimes come into work with masks on , I found it a bit strange then . Only later did I found out they had a cold and was afraid they could infect others in the office . That was normal behavior in Hong Kong , Japan and Korea . I come to an understanding now that in the West many of us can’t tell the difference between altruism and personal gratification dressed as freedom .
I had the same impression of surprise years ago seeing masks worn in Korea. When I asked my co teacher what the masks were for I got no answer. I realize now, its not just to keep the other people at work and around you from catching your cold or whatever, its because in Korea you are not allowed to take a sick day- shows disloyalty and you lose face.
You cant wear those surgical masks only the 95 mask prevents transmission of an airborne illness. Anyon whos worked in a hospital here in america will know that....
i really don't understand why people in the US didn't do that, i mean technically if we have colds and the flu we aren't even supposed to go into work, but of course if we didn't then we would get reprimanded even though the employee handbooks literally say not to.
Having been to China twice myself, I totally get it. I was in Chongqing and found everyone to be friendly. I always felt safe when out and about. What sense does it make to expend energy on assigning blame when we aren't even taking care of ourselves in the midst of a high infections rate?
Appreciate you sharing your perspective! You're not wrong at all. I think there's something to be said between seeing something from a distance as a whole versus then seeing it in your day-to-day life (I imagine the former is more objective, but you're at the mercy of the media and press in delivering you said info). Without question though, objectively, the US is much less concerned with the well being of its citizens than most other developed nations (there's been many studies done, this is the unfortunate reality). Ofc as always there's a lot of charm and a lot to cherish, but you're not wrong for noticing the things you have. Thank you again for sharing!
As a precautionary measure, it is advisable to avoid strenuous physical activities such as running, weightlifting etc for 1 week after first or 2nd vac doses. Stay safe ! 😊
However, Chicago metropolitan area Costco are different story, 99% people wearing masks, that’s why Illinois infection rate is lower as compare to Republicans States.
It’s kind of like people living in a neighborhood, you do your things and they do theirs, don’t try to tell your neighbors what to do and what not to do. Rich or poor, short or tall, respect one another. I believe that countries should act the same way in the international community and that way we can reduce many conflicts.
Thank you Mr "JaYoe" for your honest sharing of your experiences in China and now back in US. I find your views very interesting. You experienced first hand at both places, and most importantly your views are true and honest! Your home is great vast and surrounded by nature. Your views will go greatly to foster better understanding between US and China, the two countries that have the greatest impact on this World. I hope US and China can co-exist amicably, compete fairly, co-operate sincerely and together work for a better World for All of Mankind!
Matt, understand how you feel. Travel back and forth between two countries on two sides of the earth during the special period. People could not image how different the two countries can be in many regards. Need to adjust both physically and mentally.
I knew how you felt. Me and my husband always having this shock seeing how everyone "take it lightly" over the whole covid thing. As if none of them get through science class and have no idea what pandemic really means.
In this country our freedoms are more important than my life or your life and that freedom to die for not getting a vaccine or freedom to have 100 assault rifles isnt going anywhere. That defending of peoples freedoms is at the very core of our countries founding and defining moments. If you dont like it move to china...
Mao killed 45 million Chinese during the Great Leap Forward, ccp killed millions more during cultural revolution, ccp terminated 400 million Chinese during the one child policy, uyghur genocide, so ccp has killed more Chinese than all of the COVID deaths put together 😂
Jessie James vaccine, no vaccine. I had it in january im fine. If you dont want to take it dont. Nobodies capable of forcing you in america. The numbers where i live in massachussetts are not accurate maybe 60% of people have the vaccine in my experience. Its no 80% like the state claims
Sony Paulus you dont understand my country at all. Im not going to argue with you, however the freedom to own guns of any kind is the second most important freedom in our country. Only the freedom of speech and religion is more important. Freedom isnt free, thats the whole point it divides the morons from the rest of us. Indonesia is a beautiful country. Freedom is always good, its just not always good for everyone. Guess what nothing is good for everyone a government does.
Liberal society views the human race very negatively, they define "freedom" purely in terms from being able to distance yourself and isolate yourself from other humans, and they hold this to be the greatest virtue. Any sort of cooperation to help your fellow compatriot is viewed as an attack on fundamental virtues. It's a very anti-human ideology.
The average age of covid deaths are in the 80's and high 70's which is normal death rate. I had covid and Vicks Vaporub works. Build your immune system by having a dog in your house, eat right and exercise outside by walking your dog.
I literally had to change to an online school because I didn't want my sister to get sick, vaccines aren't available for her age group yet. It's absurd how after more than 600,000 people died, people are still being convinced that it's not serious.
@@kaiserumaru5528 they think the vaccine is more of a risk than the virus. Deniers will only look for scientific evidence to backup their preconceptions. They say they have done the research but never do background checks on the stuff they read in Facebook or watch on RUclips. I catch so many illogical arguments that I don’t even try to argue. When someone’s mind is already so closed you can’t say anything to convince them otherwise
In China, if an infected person is found in any city in China, the entire city will be tested for all nucleic acids within 24 hours. The infected people are screened out to ensure the safety of other people in this city. I am very grateful to the country and medical staff for their hard work.
China has a large population so they have to take it seriously. If there are several cases that is not taken care of, then there could be a million cases in a month.
You'll be "americanised" again after you spend a while in the States that's the natural flow of things. The way the USA is divided at the moment Republicans against Democrats isn't healthy. There's the same split (but not necessarily along the same boundaries) in the application of COVID measures.
The life for the ordinary americans and the Chineses are the ways that they lives normally. But the conflicts are stirred up by the politicians and people who are political and racist and anti Asian group. Glad to see you back home. Home sweet home and stay safe.
Stop acting like the ccp is some sort of good guy. A government that starved 40 million of its own people back in 1960, killed thousands of its own people in tianamen square and currently has 2 million uighurs in concentration camps whove commited no crime is far from decent. Not to mention the lack of any transparancy or real cooperation during covid 19. You want to talk racism and xenaphobia nobody is worse than the ccp. Forcing all chineese to act and behave likw the han ethnicity while pointing the finger at the us. Theres a reason why all chinas neighbors are on the usas side of this despite being twice as large a trading partner with china. Typical hypocrite.....
@@Brynden-Rivers I was planning to argue with you until I saw in your comment "uighurs in concentration camps". I guess, Maybe you are a man brainwashed by ideology, or you just work for Ideological propaganda of the U.S. government. @@dagelichb you know how america had 40 million slaves during american slavery (150 years)? 40 million chineese died in the great famine alone in 1959-1961. All starved by chairman maos excellent policies. Thousands killed in tianamen square uprising in the 80s. You have to go back 150 years ain american history to find 1000 americans killed by its own government for being "rebels." At least when we fight the government we do it with guns. Talk all the smack you want but theres a damn good reason why 2 million chineese have come to america since 2015 to live (not vacation) and not even 100k americans have applied for passports to china in the same time....
@@Brynden-Rivers You want an example of the US government killing people? Not to mention the those in Afghanistan, The US goverment has just killed more than 800 thousands of it's own people, by doing nothing in the pandemic. Saying that it's "just like a code" , it wll "go away in few weeks". It's more likely they are eliminating weak people on purpose. You do have guns, yes, what can you shoot? innocent people in the schools? can you shoot the capital that manipulating your goverment? Sounds like you have your sharp teeth and you can bite anyone that you want to, unfortunately, what you can do is only barking in the cage. Yes, a lot of Chinese goes to the west, because most of the top 20 universities are in the west, also the west has been the most wealthy place in the world for 150 years. That's because the west has been governing the world, and robbing the world to make itself wealthy.
I live in NC. I came back from China last year and custom didn’t ask anything or check my temperature. Life seems as usual until you talk with neighbors or watch news, then realize some neighbor families caught Covid and someone died. The news reports the surge and hospitalization, it seems terrifying. My family has been very cautious. Always wearing mask if we shop grocery. Wash hands, keep distance and I still insist to wipe everything from grocery store. Almost no social life, we avoid dinning in the restaurants but will consider dining outdoors when it’s cooler. We try the best not to catch Covid. One friend told us his friend got covid fortunately he went through it after several weeks. But he has bad side effects like joints pain, his voice completely changed. He sounds like he has been smoking for decades but he has never been a smoker.
Your experience entering America is spot on Matt! But me, thinking the severity of the situation, I came in from Vietnam with a hazmat suit a few months ago for my first time in America🇺🇸 I noticed the majority of people weren’t wearing masks or taking precautions like we did in Vietnam. However, I became acclimatize to the “American way” and now I’m not so ocd as I once was in Vietnam to the pandemic situation. Its really funny how your environment changes your attitudes:)
@trang vergara yes and it changes a lot more to those 630,000 dead Americans and the millions that have over filled our hospitals and begging for a ventilator “mask”. Today over 95% of all covid patients over filling our hospitals are maga anti-maskers/anti-vaxxers, the same goes for those filling our morgues. 4 million case and thousands of deaths just in the month of August 2021, over 95% were magas. Yes stupidity comes with consequences
@@jvs333 harsh but true. people tend to take it lightly, until when they start to talk to doctors and nurses and learn the real situation in the hospitals. Now non-covid related medical capacity has been severely reduced, appointments and surgeries are either delayed or canceled. Having so many covid cases are not only hurting the patients and their families, but also hurting other people who need medical care for non-covid reasons. It's weird that many Americans are so anti-science. Even here in Canada, people are very used to wearing masks, and being generally cautious.
Hey Matt, Welcome home..Just wondering why you were not vaccinated in China? I would be afraid to travel without being vaccinated.. America has changed a great deal.. I believe that everything has been politicized unnecessarily... We are more divided than any time during my lifetime.. and I have a few miles on me.. and remember the political unrest of the late 60's.. I love this country, served in the US Military.. But I am not very optimistic for its future.. Ja Yoe..
he probably took the Chinese Vaccine but US doesnt acknowledge it as a Vaccine and hence he needs to take another western vaccine to be considered vaccinated in US, a lot of western countries only Acknowledge Moderna, Pfiser, AZ, Johnson as real vaccine, those sino, sputnik vaccine to the west are fake vaccines that cant be trusted.
@@ainzooalgown7589 sino, sputnik vaccine to the west are fake vaccines that cant be trusted. And yet people are clamoring for those Chinese "Fake" Vaccines for lack of all those mRNA based (+ AZ) vaccines U mentioned... What's to be done?
@@abdirahmanhussein3899 you know the difference? mRNA vaccinations have higher efficacy but also lose their effect much quicker than the tradition styled vaccines. That's why most of the US need to be "topped up" now. This will be recurring at least every year with great financial benefits to the drug companies.
I'm in new York city, and people are pretty lax, I think everyone is done with the pandemic. I would say 10-20% of the people riding the subway aren't wearing masks, even though it's supposed to be mandatory.
Covid is still taken very seriously in Australia and New Zealand, of course overseas arrivals will have to go through 14 days hotel quarantine, and there are very strict restrictions in place in Sydney and Melbourne due to surging Delta variants
Hello Matt . Here in France everyone is tired about all the restrictions. There is a lot of tension in our society between the pro pass and those who are against it .... Welcome back home, to ride on your new adventures. Blessed is he who has a strong purpose in life! Be safe and may everyday be great! I've been back stateside for almost 1 year this month... America is far from being the same place that, I loved and had known for 66 years! Totally unbelievable, if I hadn't seen it first hand! The media being shown in China is far from showing reality here! If I had known, I truly would have stayed in Nanning with my family and have some beers with G 60, lol. I like you, have my family still safe and sound in Guangxi! I came into Detroit, upon returning and saw the same things. I assumed the customs camera took my temperature. If I may say, it was the beginning of my disappointment of being home! CORRECT you're in a different level or planet! No buddy cares and they accepted their new normal life. Sorry, I don't watch TV. Simple things, you must explan a few times... I seldom leave my farm! Hope for the future has disappeared as many jobs are only future AI production areas. Folks here wait for their ridiculous survial checks, sell drugs/ use them; I'm ~70' from the sheriff station. One of a dozen are sellers or working on the streets, this is a rural township of ~3000. The government has stepped up paying house payment that enables false flags. I've lost a year of production on our farm because many things I had to wait up to six months before recieving my farm shipments. I need my taobao back! Lowes took not 2 days as promised but, the eve of the 22nd day it came, a $1250 item with no refund possible from their website. Other purchases said in stock but, I'm still waiting for cause items are still at the dock in China, ufn. A lot more of things but, people would say I'm too hard on my country! Taobao has spoiled me with great servive. I've only have driven 120 miles away from the farm 2 times in a year and 4000 miles total in my truck, this last years. Now, I'm preparing our farm for my granddaughter to have after high school if, she doesn't go to Beijing for university in eight years. Wake Forrest University is close to our farm. Springtime I must find a good manager to take over, long term. Next summertime back to Guangxi to build out our new granny flat. Our son will keep our old home for his family. Honestly, can't wait to return and enjoy a normal life! What we do for our children and grandkids. I don't remember this when we married. All in all it's ok.we make our own great days.
Why are you trying to behave like you have been forced to stay in AMERICA, go to china if you think it is suitable for you. look wheeere your interests are taken care of. chao
I think US doesn’t need to have tight control and check on people coming in since it has so many cases within the country already. There are more “important” things to do than caring how it’s citizens are doing.
Most of the Delta from UK and India, quarantine in USA it’s not mandatory. Biden says, honest system, 99% of the US people did not obey the quarantine rule. Even though they are infected, they still go around until the day they get very sick.

The United States is a great country. Although the US government is not working, the country is working because of bottom-up and ordinary people putting their sleeves up. Those who dismiss the United States do it at their own peril, because do not underestimate the vibrance of its people. Having said that, China is way more robust than people may think. It is not only depending on a strong government or the Party. The Chinese people are extremely hard working and they do know how to persevere and keep China growing, even if their government enacts wrong policies like in the US. The combination of good governance and embracement of economic reform and free capital has driven one of the most successful modernization stories ever told. The changes in China are irreversible and that is a good thing.

My Uncle and I were talking about you last night. He’s a 90-something retired Priest, now in a retirement center in Boston..but he spent over 45 years living with the indigenous Indians in the Andes in Ecuador, mainly building schools, health centers, farms and community center/libraries. Uncle Bob would come back to the states every 1-2 years to give TED talks and raise money for an orphanage he also built. He is NOT your typical Catholic Priest-he con-celebrated Mass with local Shamans, played his guitar during (and after) Mass. He’s extremely liberal because of his experiences and has had an ongoing, sometimes public, feud with a certain US Bishop. He was NOT a fan of Trump..he and my late Dad used to talk about their experiences as kids and teens in Europe during the 30’s..let’s just say, Trump brought back bad memories. Anyways, as a VERY Cogent 90-something, watching from his retirement home (occasionally driving here to the Poconos to visit); even he has been shocked at the changes in our country the past 5-6 years. He had been doing a Hispanic mass in Boston for immigrants, visitors, citizens..it got shut down by the diocese in 2018. Bomb threats, constant vandalism..Uncle Bob was shocked it got to that level so quickly. He had been staying in an apartment owned by old family friends..but the diocese insisted he move to the retirement home for safety. Although he was no longer saying the Hispanic masses; he helped as a translator for other priests and worked as an advocate for some of the Hispanic families split up by Trumps new policies. He was receiving daily death threats. He was set to give a speech at Harvard about the indigenous peoples in South America. A certain Cardinal went on his favorite news network and said a “radical leftist priest” was going to be inviting South Americans to illegally immigrate..and that he would protect them in his “sanctuary city”. Uncle Bob usually isn’t the type to take false accusations (his talk was about their history & culture-it had NOTHING to do with immigration); but when a reporter from that network accosted him outside his private apartment and asked him about his supposed relationship with Hugo Chavez? He took the diocese up on their offer, replied to the accusations and just withdrew from everything he was doing at the time. He even tried to get “permission” from the church to live out the rest of his retirement in Ecuador, in the house he and his parishioners built for him 40 years ago. It was denied…in the sense that if he went, he would lose his retirement pay and health insurance. When my daughter and I found out who had blocked it, we tried to get Uncle Bob to go over his head to the Pope-who he had known well for 45 years and they used to play golf together. Uncle Bob said he didn’t want to “rock the boat. Then COVID and the whole thing was impossible anyways. Anyhow, Uncle Bob said you’re probably going to have a culture shock and many things here in your home country, are going to seem “foreign”. While I am not specifically “anti-abortion”, nor obviously is Uncle Bob; the law passed in Texas the other night will be PAYING, neighbors, church members..$10,000 to report women who were either planning to have an abortion, driving someone to one, working as a doctor or nurse in a facility providing them…OH, ALSO, think maybe your neighbors miscarriages weren’t “normal”? REPORT & become eligible for a $10k REWARD! Bounty hunting pregnant women..THIS is where our country as gotten to. “Individual freedom”? Only for White Males. This new draconian law severely restricts access to polls in minority districts, repeals the historical Sunday voting that Black churches have done for over 100 years. Much, MUCH more in this INSANE, Blatantly unconstitutional Bill (it’s called SB8 If you want the details) law which EVERY other Red State is carbon-copying to pass in their states. SCOTUS? Much to even Conservative Chief Justice John Roberts Shock-Trump’s 3 appointees were able to block it from even being discussed. The new voting laws in this bill were specifically designed to assure a permanent Republican victory. Cuz, you know..despite even many of the most highly respected Republican election officials (at least they were before the election); Trump’s own DOJ..ALL stated this last election was the closest watched and most secure. NOW? Because they refused to go along with Trump’s long planned coup, (he was telling his rallies shortly after he was inaugurated in 2017 that “the only way we will lose in 2020 is if they steal the election.” Trump knows from years of doing Real Estate that if you’re going to lie, LIE BIG. AND repeat it, constantly, until it becomes fact. Remember that pesky thing called COVID? “Nothing to worry about folks”. He and his supporters in media so completely politicized this International health crisis? Well, you’ve seen the results. I live in a tiny, ultra conservative town in the Poconos. 92 new Delta cases since Monday. My dear friend & personal physician who co-owns a local nursing home said “I’ve never cried about something like this before..I cry almost nightly over the preventable deaths in this area..and our patients and their families being rabidly against the vaccines, masks, social distancing..you can’t convince them otherwise.” Our tiny local community hospital-8 ICU Beds, all full with COVID patients, including a teenager and a 25yr old. We have 7 more patients on the floor awaiting an open bed either here or in Scranton. As far as we know, none of these people had been vaccinated. People say COVID isn’t anything to worry about, especially if you’re young and healthy..right? Tell that to my daughter’s otherwise healthy fiancé in Buffalo..or my precious 31yr old, healthy SON. Oh, wait..you can’t. My Son DIED on June 19th this year. His cause of death? “Post-COVID Syndrome CVA”-a STROKE, a blood clot in his brain. He had COVID last October and had been diagnosed with long-haulers syndrome, but we thought it was just minor lung damage and some brain fog. He was over-the-moon that he’d just gotten his VISA to return to China-which he loved with a passion and had dragged me onto his bandwagon. CJ had spent most of his life traveling , volunteering, teaching building/gardening/cooking and language skills. He was supposed to return to China last month, work with his old friends to distribute affordable solar panels, eco-stoves and ovens, and water purification systems to impoverished areas-mainly Nepal and India. My daughter’s wonderful fiancé? He got COVID in July 2020. His actual infection wasn’t bad, but my daughter came home from work one morning (she’s a nurse practitioner in an ER), he was unconscious on the kitchen floor. He’d had a severe stroke-he survived, but has been relearning to walk, talk, function everyday. Like Daniel, he had owned 2 craft beer pubs in upstate NY. He lost his businesses. Me, my dear Uncle Bob, my girls..we haven’t left this country; but no longer recognize it. We just can’t wrap our heads around people who refuse to listen to doctors and scientists..instead? “Oh, this guy on the radio said the vaccine wasn’t tested long enough; but if we inject Equine Horse Wormer, made for a 1500lb horse? YEP! THAT will knock it out!” COVID isn’t the only thing that’s become endemic…lack of critical thinking and hypocrisy have spread across this country with a vengeance. Add in some willful ignorance? Exactly the formula-along with a large, very diverse, unprotected population-PERFECT for ongoing mutations. I have to wonder who these people think they are propagandizing…the Unity and compassion of Americans? Or a deadly virus that has found VERY fertile ground to continue spreading..and mutating…and it WILL, *THAT* is a fact. Over 1000 Americans are dying every day..and my research papers that I still get are saying they have identified 3 sub-variants of DELTA, HERE, in the US. Delta has already shown it has a much higher mortality rate among young people. My daughter has 3 children, under 16, in her hospitals ICU. NO vaccine mandate, few if any mask or social distancing mandates (cause, according to Trump supporters interviewed a few weeks ago? It’s BOTH communist AND Fascist..and THEY “don’t want to be sheep!” Nope, NO ONE is gonna tell them they MUST wear a mask! That’s what the radio & TV people tell them to do-“DON’T wear a mask, it takes away yer FreeDUMB!” Sorry about the novel..I’m having a tough day..lots of those recently. I miss my little Prince terribly; it literally hurts my heart to watch our country descend into some crazy alternate reality. On top of all that..every day our military industrial complex seems to ramp-up the anti-China rhetoric. 😔. My Son had planned on bringing me over to China once he was settled. His friends and my friends on WeChat want me to still go..but, even with my old research team over there in BJ..I’m not sure China wants an older lady with health issues right now. I’m gonna go take a shower & cry for awhile…that actually helps. ❤️🇨🇳☮️
Reading you lost your son to a Covid infection from last October felt like a punch in the gut. Given that China along with Vietnam, New Zealand, ... completely eradicated Covid within their borders by early April last year, any death after last May in the richest country on the planet can only be described as a gross negligence manslaughter. But we can't point finger at any individual. It's a collective decision by the nation to go this route. No point to get into who's right, who's wrong or who's good, who's bad. We live by the system and we die by the system. Wish you all the best.
I am so so sorry, Elaine.. it's the government's inaction that made innocent people die. Too much freedom and too much misinfo to be spread around. Sigh
What I believe is Americans care more for their personal freedoms Chinese care more for their health who can say who is right n who is wrong? both right in their own way both wrong in their own way I understand both n respect their thinking who is right who is wrong? who am I to judge that
Just watched your last video and I really thought you were serious when you said you had a warrant out on you. I'm so glad it was just a joke. Best of luck to you Matt! I hope you and Cyrus will continue with your fair assessments of China; good or bad as long as it is true. Safe travels in your future!
I had a conversion with one of my friends asking him why wouldn't he wear a mask or get vaccinated for the benefit of himself and others. Then he said, it's none of his business that others get sick or not. If they are weak, they should protect themselves but not his responsibility...
I feel like this is the majority of people in the US because I watched a video on RUclips asking opinions of few Americans about universal healthcare like in the UK, Australia, Germany and many other European countries and almost every single one of them disagreed and said that it’s not their buss, they are not responsible of other people health, they should find a good job that can afford health insurance basically each to their own.
Make sure your passport is up to date, I have a relative who has been waiting for her passport for more than 6 months. I also have a friend who went to renew her IN drivers license from the same office where she got her 1st license 40+ years ago and has renewed without issue until this year. She even had her original birth certificate with her. That was a week ago, it expires in 2 weeks. It is crazy times here too.
The situation in the states is inconsistent and depends on what part of the country you're in. Here in Oregon, I see most people adhering to mask rules. I was just in Hawaii and you can't enter the state without a covid test or vaccine. A traveler from the mainland was recently arrested in Hawaii for falsifying a vaccine card. The south and midwest may not be taking it as seriously. I saw reports from the hurricane where no one seemed to be wearing masks
美國防疫很鬆散 所以會死亡人數 超過63萬人 1000多萬人感染 The U.S. epidemic prevention is very loose, so more than 630,000 people died, and more than 10 million people infected.
The thing is, you could have caught the 'rona right after you got your negative result and nobody would have been the wiser. It's a little bit of "theater" really. I mean, I would have wanted to show someone if they made me take the test, that's for sure...lol. I lived in Japan for 10 years and I still suffer from reverse culture shock a bit. Welcome back!
Hi Matt.... definitely rooting for your on-the-ground reporting... it's great to be able to see and experience both sides...stay away from hotspots and enjoy your trickling 加油
Haha, basically real world is very different from what you hear and feel from internet and media. Same thing to China and America. China and US are on the two extreme sides dealing with covid-19. Anything goes extreme is not totally right. Both side can learn a lot from each other. You have to say that America is more free.
From what I hear, China as done a great job of reacting to and controlling the virus unlike countries such as the US and and UK. I'm not going to outline why I believe this is but leave it others to come to their own conclusions.
This is a very interesting view on coming back from China. I have not been to China yet (I can't wait though!), but I have done quite a bit of research. Being stuck here, it is true that most do not follow guidelines for COVID. We do not care about our people like China does. I am looking forward to begin my career in China. American expats seem to adore China and don't dream of coming back to stay. I enjoyed listening to how you feel between the two.
China had ignored science for so long in old days and was invaded by the west, and then started a long history of misery. So we Chinese respect science now. Looks like the USA have abandoned science. I think that is why the world is so weird now.
It had to do with the Qing's rulers. they prefer the Han majority being uneducated, so they, the Manchurian can stay in power for ever... Once the Chinese have their own government back, they can enjoy the education and sciences again, like old times in Ming, Song, Tang and Han..
Keep posting, having different ideas is Okey. Just keep your open mindedness and crticical view always with you. It's ok to have your views checked with facts and if you are wrong then be unbiased enough to show it with facts and evidence. People don't care about covid unless it takes someone from your circle. And as the first world country seems to be Okey with it, it is impacting how people view it around the world. Thanks for video. Take care.
In your second paragraph, I am not really agreeing upon. I do believe that people, my surrounding friends coworkers, care much about COVID, nor do the percentage of people who care about it comparable to those in most Asian countries, just facts, no hard feelings. I saw a street interview in NYC, when it was the worst days, a guy said he lost a few fam members already, and he kinda behaved that he lost nothing. He might be a bit down in mood, but you feel it was just a normal thing, not as big as losing beloved fam. I was shocked. I had thought people might start taking it seriously and trust science trust vaccine more, but I was wrong.
Hello, Matt, the Pandemie is for everyone unexpected. I came back Germany on Feb. 21st,2020, just at the beginning of the Pandemie. I can say I have both experience in Germany and in China. The two countries have done and are doing very different, now, I am in Germany, I follow what the german government says, although I don’t think they do good. I know this video you made on August 3rd. So much new happened in August. You must have some thought changed. Good luck and keep healthy, Matt.
New Zealand still trying. Western Australia still closed from all other state. Its not because its not serious, people are still dying. Its because we failed to contained it. So we give up. Our PM is telling us that we have to live with it. If someone can't make it, well its bad luck .
@@s001w7 Seems like everyone here in Sydney dies of Covid no matter the age. I don’t trust the state or Federal governments here. The brother of the young woman who died spoke out and said she died of heart attack. The health department come out and say that the heart attack was caused by Covid. All governments from around the world are all in it together. Those who get vaccinated will be ok, while those who don’t will be forgotten.
Welcome back to The States! Happy Greetings from North Carolina! I wear a mask at all indoor areas again and at work. It is required again as well ad recommend by the CDC even for us vaccinated people because of the variants
Welcome back, tell us about the thoughts of the other side of American, I still don’t know why they don’t want to be vaccinated. Sure there are some different reasons, but the percentage is too high in some states.
Great to see you reached home safely.. looks like you’ll have to adjust to American way of doing things. The un-concern system back home probably explained the difference in Covid cases there.
Even with the time difference, he didn’t contact his beautiful wife and little girl as soon as he arrived ? Sounds like the separation will be easy for him, however, I admit that one can never presume what’s in another’s mind and heart.
What do you think?
Thanks for sharing Matt. I am glad you got back home safely. Enjoy spending time with your family, and please stay safe.
Keep your mask on all the time in the US and constantly get sanitized.
I can confirm what you wrote about lawyers.. spent 6 years of my life at the university of Zurich studying law.. and once i was done, chose not to start working as a lawyer, become a DJ instead and move to thailand
The reason for that was.. i started to study law becasue i cared for justice.. and thats not what our legal system is about. not at all.
what i learned in that time, is the law always can be interpreted in different ways. in theorie what a lawyer is trained to do is to interpret it the way it suits his customer.
Choices are not made in the interest of the nation, but in the interest of those who make them profit the most (mosttly large corporations via lobbyists)
I once came up with a saying: years ago when someone asked me whats the difference between china and the US. "in China the government controls corporations, in the US corporations control the government"
Well laid out. 👍

All those millions that die of Influenza every year, do you think you possibly might have committed 3rd or 4 degree manslaughter on some old grannie you coughed next to on the train at some point in your life?
Not only protect yourself, but also protect others
People who accuse others first in life are usually pretty bad.I mean the government, I know there are still many good people in the United States

Stay safe ! 😊
went to costco yesterday, almost no one were wearing a mask, it's nuts with delta going around. it's like we're back in 2020 but even worse.
Costco at open....most have masks.
Costco at noon.....few with masks.
In pa. Just about every body is wearing masks only the young people not .:
I'm in Los Angeles and we have Costco here and EVERYONE wears a mask. We have to wear a mask everywhere to buy anything.

Matt, you still have to keep your guard on for a while. Just past 7 days, daily new cases are over 160,000 and daily death is over 1,500 in US.
The average age of covid deaths are in the 80's and high 70's which is normal death rate. I had covid and Vicks Vaporub works. Build your immune system by having a dog in your house, eat right and exercise outside by walking your dog.
My province sees 1000-2000 cases a day and doubling day by day. And still masks are only “optional” for schools.
I literally had to change to an online school because I didn't want my sister to get sick, vaccines aren't available for her age group yet. It's absurd how after more than 600,000 people died, people are still being convinced that it's not serious.

Absolutely true. It's really amazing how they've been able to control the situation here.

China has a large population so they have to take it seriously. If there are several cases that is not taken care of, then there could be a million cases in a month.
Totally agree.
USA has a large population as well... and it did become _tens_ of millions of cases. And Americans still don't care.
You'll be "americanised" again after you spend a while in the States that's the natural flow of things. The way the USA is divided at the moment Republicans against Democrats isn't healthy. There's the same split (but not necessarily along the same boundaries) in the application of COVID measures.

Hi Matt, it's very interesting to hear your perspective about USA, many thanks for sharing.
Your experience entering America is spot on Matt! But me, thinking the severity of the situation, I came in from Vietnam with a hazmat suit a few months ago for my first time in America🇺🇸
I noticed the majority of people weren’t wearing masks or taking precautions like we did in Vietnam. However, I became acclimatize to the “American way” and now I’m not so ocd as I once was in Vietnam to the pandemic situation. Its really funny how your environment changes your attitudes:)
Welcome to America Trang Vergara!
I hope you enjoy your stay!
During the 2019 you were all wearing masks and taking precautions?
Weird, I didn't see a single thing going on like that.

I'm in new York city, and people are pretty lax, I think everyone is done with the pandemic. I would say 10-20% of the people riding the subway aren't wearing masks, even though it's supposed to be mandatory.

Take care of yourself and your family where ever you are.

My dear friend & personal physician who co-owns a local nursing home said “I’ve never cried about something like this before..I cry almost nightly over the preventable deaths in this area..and our patients and their families being rabidly against the vaccines, masks, social distancing..you can’t convince them otherwise.”
Our tiny local community hospital-8 ICU Beds, all full with COVID patients, including a teenager and a 25yr old.
YEP! THAT will knock it out!”
COVID isn’t the only thing that’s become endemic…lack of critical thinking and hypocrisy have spread across this country with a vengeance.
That’s what the radio & TV people tell them to do-“DON’T wear a mask, it takes away yer FreeDUMB!”
Sorry about the novel..I’m having a tough day..lots of those recently.

I hope you and Cyrus will continue with your fair assessments of China; good or bad as long as it is true. Safe travels in your future!
Each country has it’s own world base on their own culture, and it is Unique. We all live on this planet.
I had a conversion with one of my friends asking him why wouldn't he wear a mask or get vaccinated for the benefit of himself and others. Then he said, it's none of his business that others get sick or not. If they are weak, they should protect themselves but not his responsibility...
wow, i feel they are so selfish
I feel like this is the majority of people in the US because I watched a video on RUclips asking opinions of few Americans about universal healthcare like in the UK, Australia, Germany and many other European countries and almost every single one of them disagreed and said that it’s not their buss, they are not responsible of other people health, they should find a good job that can afford health insurance basically each to their own.
@@greentea8852 That's only one video. Everyone is different. I think universal health care would be great but i have doubts of it working
It also has to do, especially with the contrast, our vaccines are nearly double as effective as the one used in mainland China
Nice perspective. You know both worlds well.
美國防疫很鬆散 所以會死亡人數 超過63萬人 1000多萬人感染 The U.S. epidemic prevention is very loose, so more than 630,000 people died, and more than 10 million people infected.

Haha, basically real world is very different from what you hear and feel from internet and media. Same thing to China and America. China and US are on the two extreme sides dealing with covid-19. Anything goes extreme is not totally right. Both side can learn a lot from each other. You have to say that America is more free.
Too free almost
Covid viruses like the freedom to spread. When people are too much into politics, they lose the scientific sense.
Can't wait to hear what you think of America now. Welcome home.
From what I hear, China as done a great job of reacting to and controlling the virus unlike countries such as the US and and UK. I'm not going to outline why I believe this is but leave it others to come to their own conclusions.
Frome what i heard they were Severely under reporting cases amd desths. Take that also as you will.
Thanks for the video 👍
@@jasonpico5403 it's ok. I was just stating my experience.
Thanks !
New Zealand still trying. Western Australia still closed from all other state. Its not because its not serious, people are still dying. Its because we failed to contained it. So we give up. Our PM is telling us that we have to live with it. If someone can't make it, well its bad luck .
Isn’t Austalia still very much in lockdown?
@@tigerlily6668 Yes, it is. But its out of control now in Sydney. People don't care. Another woman in her 30's dead.
Why r u so obedient? Lol jk.
I appreciate it
@@joyjoyoo Because I don't want to get a virus and die : p
yo
@@egyptIT A virus that you'll get sick from like a flu but won't die from. My god.
Welcome back, tell us about the thoughts of the other side of American, I still don’t know why they don’t want to be vaccinated. Sure there are some different reasons, but the percentage is too high in some states.
Great to see you reached home safely.. looks like you’ll have to adjust to American way of doing things. The un-concern system back home probably explained the difference in Covid cases there.
tbh, we watch your channel because we want to see truth. we don't need you to be pro China, just pro facts.
Welcome back!
Even with the time difference, he didn’t contact his beautiful wife and little girl as soon as he arrived ?
Sounds like the separation will be easy for him, however, I admit that one can never presume what’s in another’s mind and heart.
How do you know about his communication with his family?
