In an increasingly inherently selfish World, I find it so refreshing to see your mums love and kindness for others in need. Hours of work and love must go into every quilt for a young child whom she may never meet. I can only imagine how frightened a young child may feel being in foster care, and I hope these blankets keep them wrapped up warm and feeling safe in a new setting. They also say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. You share your passion and knowledge of British grown flowers so freely. I find myself walking past peoples gardens and going “that’s a nice physocarpus, would be good for depth of field” I’ve enjoyed your channel so much this year. You are so generous and full of life. I look forward to your new clips. So I’d like to wish you a Happy New Year. I cannot wait to see what adventures come your way in 2024. Thanks for being you x
Oh thank you thank you for sharing Googie and her treasures. What a lovely thing to do Googie. I pray the children recieving the quilts will feel the love in the stitches from Googie to them. Those dear children need all the kindness they can find. Thanks Googie and thanks to you Georgie for sharing your darling mother with the world. We all love her.
Dear Googie I love your quilts…you have inspired me to get a wiggle on and do some quilting. You both are so amazing and inspiring! I have a grandson who was fostered by my daughter and son in law he has since been adopted by them… love and blessings from Colorado ❤️
Love your mom, she is wonderful. The quilts are adorable. I have to make a storybook quilt now that I’ve seen the ones for the Linus project. Bless your mom. Thanks for the video.
I've only made one quilt in my life (in the early '80s). It was a California King (huge!) and was given to my son. Googie, your quilts are wonderful! And Georgie, you're such a blast! Thank you both for being so creative, inspiring and generous with your sharing. Happy New Year lovely ladies!🎉
Googie is such a good egg! Most people her age are nodding off on the sofa - but I think she does not enjoy being idle - not when she can help a frightened child feel safe and loved, wrapped up in one of her cosy quilts. It's such an unselfish thing to do, because she will never meet these kids that she has cheered up. I got a bit teary watching this - Googie's kind deed in a weary world.
Such a lovely heart warming video, Googie is so kind and talented and any child who receivesl one of those beautiful quilts is very blessed indeed. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you both x
Thank you for sharing those wonderful, colorful quilts! Your mom is quite clever using the cloth books in the quilt design. Also that rack she has strips organized on is clever too. I have the same schedule, garden in the warm months, quilts in the cold months. Happy new year 🎉. TeresaSue.
Your Mom makes gorgeous quilts! Now I know what else (simple log cabin/coping strips) /to do with my panels that are appropriate for children to donate. I loved the way she explained her quilts. She is awesome. I sincerely hope that I will still be able to sew and quilt at her age.
What a dynamo Google is! She seems to make the most of every day ! The quilts are beautiful and such a great way to welcome a misplaced child into a family.....love it😇
A superb lady, Googie . Thank you for this great contribution, as a former foster mother myself I hugely appreciate this effort and time that she and others put into these gorgeous quilts. We have a missionary hospital here in Zimbabwe, supported by a church in the USA and the congregation ladies make and send patchwork quilts for the various ward beds, it brightens and cheers up those areas !!, Grateful thanks to you all quilters where ever you may be.
I am so inspired by this. I live in the US and make quilts for Project Linus. We have chapters and meet once a month to show and tell our quilts and hand them in for distribution. I love your strip piecing and gives me a lot of ideas to use up strips i have cut out.
Oh I love gardening too!! I hurt myself pretty bad doing so this spring I was digging up a new big spot with a shovel and ended up agreevating my knee and had to have a new knee replacement and after that I ended up having carpal tunnel surgery as well so this past summer gardening went down the tubes!! But I’ll be back this spring but I won’t be digging a new spot with a shovel this time!!
I was knitting blankets for babies. Mums quilts are just such fun, overflowing with joyful colors and love. Thank you for showing us these precious pieces ❤
Unbelievable! Breathtaking care and attention and such utterly beautiful and unique quilts. When the media feed us only the ugliness in the world, this video reminds us that there are such wonderful people out there touching others with their kindness and creating everlasting beauty. Thank you Georgie and Googie for showing us these gems. Have you ever auctioned any for charity? You'd raise a LOT of money! All the very best for 2024.
She has auctioned in the past I think but likes to make them for the Linus Project because she can imagine the children who receive them and knows they'll go to a good home x
The quilts are wonderful, I'm sure the children will love them. I have an old quilt rack that I no longer use and was going to give away. I just dragged it back out and I'm using it to sort my strips. Thank you for the great idea! Happy New Year!
Fab quilts and what a wonderful idea. Your mum is amazing. Also, thanks for showing the tulips from Smith and Munson,I've signed up for fortnightly flowers.
The last thing we want to do is to modernize Googie. She is perfection. I have fostered children in the past and never received anything but the child. In my state of KY, USA, it's estimated that 50% of children are either being raised by grandparents or are in foster care due to drug addiction. I'm currently raising two grandchildren myself. Our government pours money into illegals, while American children receive little to no assistance.
Oh this was so heart warming, what a blessing..those blankets are adorable & beautifully made..If I was a child recieving one of those I would cherish it for the rest of my life, maybe I would hand it down, what a beautiful gift,a gift from the heart & made with love.. I don't know if you or your mom mention how long it takes to make just one of these because I haven't got to the end of the video yet,but if it is not mentioned could you tell me how long it takes your wonderful mother to make one of these beautiful blankets please??.. You look so much like your mom.. Another lovely video, made with love.. Thankyou so much for sharing this, definitely heart felt 🍄🐞🦋🪺🌸🍁🍄🐞🦋🪺🌸🍁
she makes them in batches so it's hard to tell how long - she could probably make one in a morning if making one at a time - hand hemming the binding edges might take longer but I think she machine finishes them these days x
These are so inspiring, as are you, Googie! Googie, could you explain how you machine quilt the patches without having the quilting show on the back? Thank you and wonderful work!! Georgie, you are incredibly inspiring too. I love your channel.
Were it not for the giant pond between them, my mom and Googie would be besties. My mom creates Quilts for Kids; they are gifts for children in hospital for long periods of time. She will leave handwritten messages directly on the quilt such as, “You are loved”. 🌸🐝
Beautiful guilts thank you for sharing. I’ve recently retired and I have a new sewing machine that I’ve had for 20 years and haven’t sewed a thing so I’m very interested. I think I could sew anything but setting up the machine is confusing to me🤦🏻♀️ but my goal is to learn how to run it!!
Can you share roughly how many different sets of strips you use per quilt? I love how colorful, yet cohesive your quilts are. I'll get specifics from project Linus but any general help on block size & layouts is much appreciated - thank you!
Amazing and Inspiring! The Love is felt. ❤ Would you please put links where the story panels can be found? Cannot find Mitten or ABC. Thanks so much from Texas
Googie will have bought the panels in the USA when she last visited over ten years ago and they will have come from small fabric stores either in Seattle or Vermont - sorry can't give you more info than that. x
Oh Googie, I am so glad that RUclips showed me your channel today! I am a new quilter and am making quilts to donate. I tried to find "the Boy Who Went Into the Woods" fabric but couldn't find it. What town in Vermont has the shop that sold the fabric? I am in the US. I LOVE your quilts Googie!!!! Cheers and hugs from Fern in Minnesota
awful thing is I have no idea which town in Vermont had the shop with the story panels - I think Googie was last there maybe ten + years ago and she can't remember. I bet if you find a good haberdasher's shop they'd be able to advise. x
Such adorable quilts! But where did you find the panels and fabrics? I’ve never seen anything like them! You are so generous to make all those quilts for the Linus project!

I can just see a frightened little child running their fingers over all of the beautiful colors and shapes. It will definitely bring them comfort. 😊
I hope so x
What a woman ! So talented, generous too. Xx
thank you - she is x
Oh Googie your quilts are adorable and Georgie your Mum is a treasure, you must be very proud of her. Wishing you both a happy and blessed 2024.

I would love three Googie quilts for my grandchildren!

Oh wow Googie . U r just a blessing for n earth.

We have lots of panels in Canadian quilt shops/fabric shops too. I had no idea panels were hard to get where you live.
