over a year ago, when I was still on Windows, explorer patcher broke my windows install so hard that I had to reinstall the whole OS (and some time later I gave up on trying to customize Windows to what I want it to be and moved to Linux)
A year ago, I had an issue with ExplorerPatcher that caused explorer not opening at startup. Great customization, but Windows just doesn't agree with injecting code into explorer.
Wow, seriously, an experienced Windows user doesn't know the tool to view the shell extensions in Nir System Tools? I have not been using Windows over a year, so I forgot the exact name, but there is a tool that shows all the extensions and it even marks non-MS extensions so that you could easily disable them.
Haven't had this issue, but either way I feel forced to use Explorer Patcher because I've been used to having the taskbar on a second monitor for years until Windows 11 took that away for no reason. Why would I want the taskbar to be on my main monitor with games and videos hiding it, it makes no sense. Some old games even break when minimizing them so in that case I'd just not have access to my taskbar at all, how awesome
Total Commander is the first thing I install on any fresh Windows installation, from Windows 95 to Windows 11. John Socha's orthodox file manager conception is timeless. Two panels on the sides, command line on the bottom, robust keyboard shortcuts. Norton Commander did it better before DOS Shell or Windows Explorer was even a thing.

@@motoryzen I personally have no reason to switch to Linux. My setup works perfectly fine and if something works only on Linux or better on it (CUDA-enabled TensorFlow/PyTorch, C/C++ programming tools like Valgrind) WSL2 does the job pretty well. Also, I play games a lot and the MSI software I use for controlling the MUX switch, changing power plans with overclocking and other stuff don't work on Linux, unfortunately.

i use explorer patcher all the time, mostly because i like my sidebar on the left (since this functionality was removed in windows 11, awesome). havent had many issues with it.
In Windows 11, it corrupted my Explorer and it stopped starting automatically even when Windows starts... I had to restart Explorer via shell by multiple tries. Updates would never repair it. Neither 'sfc' or anything else would be able to find it corrupt or updatable. You need to go to Event Viewer, instead of Services and see the Errors log showing Explorer.exe crash due to some Windows Library... I had to repair my Windows from its original setup/iso, and everything restored to working condition. Now I am using "WinHawk"
I use Explorer Patcher on all my Win-11 PC's and haven't had any issues with it but I make sure I don't have any programs that might interrupt or cause over-riding problems, I like to use KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid and that goes for my pc's as well
ExplorerPatcher breaks the settings 'Combine Taskbar buttons' and sets them to 'Never' even if it shows 'Always' or 'When taskbar is full' on Windows 11 I have to find another solution
I actually enjoy the new uninstall program menu in settings. For the reason being that you can uninstall multiple applications at the same time unlike in control panel where it asks you to wait for the program to uninstall before removing another one.
Oh boy ... I'm so desparate to tap play on this video. My experience on my work laptop has not been great, as I had (stupidly) joined Insider. 😩 So I've done my best to get out of that, but I think I'm still waiting on the next feature update to fully get out. This means that, essentially, almost every update forced Windows Explorer into a restart loop when Windows started. So I had to either disable patcher or uninstall the incompatible update each time. It was getting too painful to do the latter, so I had to give up an actually workable version of Windows ... 🙁
if your windows context menu make your windows crash that could be due to somebody linking an "arbitrary call" into it. at least that was what i experienced.. if you could look at the registry see if there is some "funny" auto behaviour added into the context menu "links". in my case, there was an auto bluetooth send, and auto DLNA. and it was hijacking through my nvidia context dll. since whatever it is, it is to execute something that uses the video device. its so easy for hackers(government or rogue) to plant a rootkit on windows boot and windows defender cant even do anything about it. and they simply blame the russian for it.
files community is so much better also check dev options there is Options for explorer that might conflict with others. for anyone ricing windows im pretty sure its because of the "Ribbon'" Tweaks
I love explorer patcher but sometimes windows updates just brick it. So I’ve just used winero to remove the windows 11 right click and live without weather app
Yeah...Windows 11 just was a regression from Windows 10. I've since moved to Debian 12. Linux is more customizable with KDE and I OWN MY COMPUTER with Linux. To hell with Windows.

I use StartAllBack and have no issue at all

I quit ExplorerPatcher a long time ago due to these crashes and slowdowns.
StartAllBack all the way, baby!
Same.
but i dont want to have to paid :(
I use Windhawk to customize/modify the windows 11 taskbar, it's open source and very stable in my use cases and I also use the Nilesoft shell.

Shame on you for uninstalling Everything.
i found unstable the combination of explorer patcher and shell
Yeah, better forget Windows Explorer even exists and do it all in Total Commander/Doublecmd.
WinFile is where it's at/.

Create a restore point before making such experiments.
Yeap and in the end...the resolution is STILL the same.

Explorerpatcher did broke my windows, but just one flip on a laptop, BOOM everything is fine 'n clean

When I hear all the morons asking me "Why are you still using that 'unstable and unsecure' Windows 7???", my answer is : YES.
I actually enjoy the new uninstall program menu in settings. For the reason being that you can uninstall multiple applications at the same time unlike in control panel where it asks you to wait for the program to uninstall before removing another one.
100% agree

I used your debloat and when i tuned on file extension from your tool my explorer freeze same like yours. Maybe check it
I got a new laptop when it was explorer patcher
File explorer on Windows 11 seems to suck compared to 10's.
its still better and easier to use than any linux file manager
For me, the File Explorer context menu sometimes even crashes without installing the Explorer Patcher. I HAVE TO REBOOT to Fix this issue once :(

No problems here. Must be bad configuration kappa

idk what i do but file explorer freaks out sometimes lol, im not really into crazy windows customization so idk.
Had to install explorer patcher and openshell to customize the start button correctly in Win 11.
Have you tried the 22621.2861.62.2 Pre-release of Explorer Patcher?
it had happened to me 2 or 3 times since xp up to now when that happens i open shellview
disable windows updates if you use explorer patcher
Hey Chris, is that an Anime wallpaper I see on your desktop?? :)
another thing that can crash explorer upon right clicking is if a program that appears in there is installed on a dying drive
ExplorerPatcher doesnt break my Windows
for me it does a amazing job bricking my pc until i unplug it
I love explorer patcher but sometimes windows updates just brick it. So I’ve just used winero to remove the windows 11 right click and live without weather app
Pls elaborate, thanks
did i spot everquest in the uninstaller list? do you still play it?
Hi, did you try workspacer for windows 10?
Some nice Everquest love there! ❤
You mean his wallpaper??

Okay but who asked
StartAllBack is way better and doesn't crash explorer
@s0M3on3_1is it better than start11?
Windows explorer freezing since Win 8
I have two fixes for Mr Chris either switch to Linux or uninstall the explorer patch and download it later
2nd option is less hassle
@@JeloOW i agree for once with you but still anyone should've more careful using custom windows patches
I think Microsoft is breaking Windows more than Explorer Patcher.

Typical Windows: shit is not working, what do I do? Reboot!
Its due to dude who made that explorer patch.. its has nothing to do with Windows
i rather reboot to fix something than write 50 commands to install one app on linux... oh yeah and terrible performance
Windows 11 casually breaking
windows just being windows
