    It is a gorgeous sounding instrument. It should be mic'd from the hole at the bottom instead of near the mouth to capture the pure tone.

    • @johnreppel2756
      @johnreppel2756 2 месяца назад

      Micing at the bottom is inconsistent, since the sound comes out of the highest open hole.

    • @GaryFothergill
      @GaryFothergill 2 месяца назад

      @@johnreppel2756 You're right! I stand corrected. So probably micing at the halfway point would be the best compromise?

    How do you get that low register?? I thought I was playing low until I heard this. O_O Mine is also La Mansur.

    • @mustafaunsoy
      @mustafaunsoy 6 месяцев назад +2

      Try to play both the lower and second registers at the same time.. Blow mild and hot air just like when you are playing the lowest octave, but with a smaller openning of the mouth (as if you are playing the higher notes). Just switch between the first and second registers, back and forth, and try to stay on the edge of both. You will achieve that sound with practice.

    What’s the difference between a mansur and kiz ney?

    • @mertgultekin444
      @mertgultekin444 Год назад +3

      In some instruments transposing is really hard and in some is near impossible. Ney is one of them so you'll need to have a set of different neys in different tunes mansur neys rast note is G while kız neys is A. So a professional neyzen would have set of these neys and switch them between songs in order to meet the compositions range.

      @@mertgultekin444Hello, I have just started to learn the ney. The ney I started with is a plastic Kız Ney(B). I have long arms, I was planning to buy a reed mansur(A) ney. Would this ney be sufficient for me to progress? Do I need to buy neys in other tones as well to be able to play different compositions?

    • @mertgultekin444
      @mertgultekin444 Год назад +1

      @@bilalhocaoglu9072 I can say kız and mansur together is more then enough for you. do not feel like youre inadequate; learning ney is a hard process, once you get more and more comfortable with them they'll feel almost like an extra limb and you would start discovering their capabilities (It's so natural to feel like your ney is not good enough at the start. Fight the urge thats telling you you need better gear.) They cover a good amount of tonal range. But above all I highly recommend for you to practice with reed neys.
