Another very well done film! The way you relate to the camera so naturally, and the pacing of the editing is fantastic. Your reverence for nature is palpable and infectious as well. Thanks for this series! Also, we think the young wild turkey could have been a grouse...but it was a very brief look so we can't say for sure. But it looked like a grouse tail for sure. Looking forward to running into you on the trail!
I really appreciate how much you enjoyed it! And yes, someone else suggested that it was probably a male spruce grouse, which makes a lot more sense... but that was my first time seeing one I think! And getting to learn something new from people who know more than me is very rewarding.
I loved this. Brought back great memories of my last two trips up there. I really enjoyed your attitude and often referring what a privilege it is to trip in Temagami. I loved your thankfulness. Often whe you described Temagami example the portages and it’s beauty I found my self shaking my head in agreement and saying yes out loud. Thank you again. Dave
Thanks so much, Dave. It really makes me happy to hear how much you enjoyed it. Temagami is indeed a special place that is a privilege to visit, and I'm glad I was able to convey that in a way that resonated with you.
Loved the series! Pretty sure that's a male spruce grouse you saw. The dark coloured plumage speckled with white and fantail courtship display are their distinctive characteristics. If you were close enough, maybe you saw the red patch above the eyes?
I didn't get quite close enough, but that would make sense! In my mind, he was bigger than a grouse but then again, I'm more familiar with the ruffed grouse. I'm really bad at bird identification though and want to get better so I appreciate the insight!
Thank you! And if I can say that one of my videos inspires someone to get back out there (or even think about it, haha), then that just makes my day! You should get back there!
Awesome trip! I made the same mistake on Helen Falls Portage where I went left instead of right but found that trail on the way back. Never got up Maple Mountain yet but it's on the list for next year.
Yeah, it was confusing up there with the rock cairns and the different paths! So beautiful though. I'm excited for you to get to Maple! It's a special place.
@@WindWaterandPine yes, I was kicking myself after last years trip cause I did the river from Gamble Lake down to Mowats Landing in 6 days and I had 9 days off for the trip. When I got to the dam before Mowats Landing, I literally sat above the dam for a few extra minutes thinking; should I turn around and go back to Maple Mountain? But my shoulders and body were sore after those brutal portages from Helen Falls down to Center Falls. I know I'm not in the greatest shape but that section beat me up pretty good. But yet, after I got home, all I wanted to do was go back again. LOL! Lots of type 2 fun as they call it.
@@darrendavidsonoutdoors Yeah, I probably wouldn't have gone all the way back either, but now you have something to look forward to! And it doesn't matter what kind of shape you're in, those portages are tough as hell :)
Jebus that was awesome! Ha. Love your content and have watched all your videos - I appreciate the hard work and time put into it. You’re providing some great info on the routes you travel. Possible to add your trip details - ie. the route you took/take in your videos? And what do we call you? 😅 thanks again - Craig, Ottawa
Wow! Thank you for those kind words and support! I can definitely consider sharing some more info about the details for future trips. If you're wondering about the bones of this particular one (not including rest days and the many, many bodies of water between campsites): Mowat Landing to Diamond Lake Diamond Lake to Dorothy Dorothy to Beaver Beaver to Florence Florence to MacPherson MacPherson to Centre Falls Centre Falls to Hobart Hobart to Anvil Anvil to Mendelssohn Mendelssohn to Mowat Landing Hope that helps! Chris
Yes, would love to hear more. Headed to Temagami with my daughters in August for a 7 day - can’t wait! And don’t let people (I.e. Ned Flanders above) deter you from being you and your content. When we start to try and add content for views, instead of for ourselves (I imagine that’s why you’re doing this) we lose the reason for doing it. Kind of like you made reference to in this video - being goal oriented and losing sight of the journey.
Very special trip - I thoroughly enjoyed your series. Can I ask what brand of hammock you are using and if the tarp / air mattress comes with it? Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching the whole thing! It was a pretty special trip, sometimes they all come together with a bit of everything and that one certainly did for me, I think. The hammock is the ENO Junglenest, the tarp/rainfly does not come with it but is designed for it (also by ENO, it's the Profly XL sized rainfly). The air mattress is a thermarest of some kind...

@@WindWaterandPine Thanks buddy, whenever you have free time! The Argentina / Patagonia trips are breathtaking scenery, highly recommended!

I really enjoyed this series, so well done. I haven’t been canoeing for years but this really has me itching to get back into it.
Thank you, Don! And yes, get back out there!

Beautiful scenery . Awesome series . Jesus loves you , please don't use His name in vain . Maybe you could say Mahamed instead . Think about it .
I'm very glad you enjoyed the series. Thank you.
