  • In August 2022 the very first CMAS European Spearfishing Championships were held in Lake Puruvesi (25km from Russia!) in Finland. I was lucky to be captain of the British team which consisted of Aareon‪@skyespearfishing‬ Scott & Feena. We had never competed in freshwater before so all the fish were new to us. We had four days to scout together, learn the fish and come up with a plan for the competition days. Thanks for the support of the British Spearfishing Association (BSA), London International Club of Spearfishing, Yakkida apparel and our partners for supporting us on this trip. Congratulations to all the winners and participants as well as the Finnish diving federation for running a fantastic event.

Hey Daniel, I really really enjoy your content and have been subscribed for I think a year or so now. I live in the Midwest United States so I really excited to see you post this fresh water video because that is really only what I have available to me locally. I would really like to see some more actual spear fishing next time if possible. You do such a great job at putting a story together along side of amazing shots. I know the fresh water probably didn’t yield for the coolest looking shots and I’m sure you were pretty focused on the tournament but if you ever get the chance again I would love to see more of the video of you shooting those pike and any fresh water fish! Great stuff man!

Are these fish eaten? Seems a shame to spear a massive pike purely for a photo and comp?

Pike is amazing to eat 👌 in belgium we always eat them if they're big enough! I guess pretty much any fish that eats other fish is good eating. Those are the fish I hunt in Australia now
