One of the community managers recently said that fire was likely overtuned because of the DOT bug, and they will be reevaluating it after it’s patched. I’m guessing there will be a small nerf but not a full reversal of the initial 50% damage buff. The only reason they might leave it alone is that fire only performs well against bugs
Just imagine spending 150 rare samples on an upgrade they'll nerf in a few days. At least it's better than the extra ammo upgrade I bought and apparently doesn't work at all. Aside form fun gameplay this game is very unrewarding. I'm unlocking new stuff every day, yet I don't feel like I made any progress in weeks.

@@Morcorcothe first game was like this. It’s all about the new weapons, vehicles, enemies. Play it too much and you’ll burn yourself out though. Better to pace yourself. They need to add more rewards such as Capes for playing an operation without dieing, or similar feats to keep it fresh.

Learning how to quickly kill from your videos has elevated my gameplay far more than other RUclipsrs. The way you never stop moving and focus on certain targets over others has helped me even when getting overwhelmed.

Stun nades work REALLY well with the flamethrower. Being able to stun chargers is pretty strong.
could probably kill the charger in the time it takes for the fuse to go off...
This is my go to combo, it seems like when the beam of the flame is closer to the charger and you aim the leg, it dies faster. Stun nade into Leg Point blank shoot has insane TTK on them, I advise to try this combo. Its matched with
Eagle Airstrike to kill lots of spitters but also destroying nests, including Shriekers one's
Sickle is used for very close hunters
Grenade pistol is also for nests
Eagle 500 Kg bomb is for bile titans. If Bile titan survive it, the anti tank property of the Eagle Airstrike can finish the Bile titan in that case.
Can be used for shrikers nests or regular nests if desperate. Fast way to destroy Laboratory without having to call a hellbomb
Shield generator pack is just broken so bring it x)

From a guy who loves seeing a high kill count at the end of my games, it's where I derive most of the fun now that I've unlocked most things I wanted. This game is just awesome to slaughter in.
I love how this game allows for different playstyles so easily lmao, I'm the squad's designated specialist when we run bots. I carry the DCS for taking out key targets while my main teammate goes in with an arc or flame thrower, and usually have either a quasar or a spear depending on if we have more bunker busting or anti-tank between us

I completely understood your decision to NOT bring the Breaker Incendiary. You wanted to test the new fire buff for the Flamethrower and the Breaker would've introduced a second fire variable into the experiment.

I had tested this out pretty quick after the upgrade was released and I think you are right here! I took the breaker incendiary and it felt underwhelming.. also I took the fire grenade. I think the damage increase is only in this setup without non-buffed fire weapons. Thank you again, I wouldn't have thought about the damage overwrite in the first place!

Ya know, fire is getting really OP, and I think it’s probably going to get nerfed once they fix the non-host DoT issue, however, I think it would be really funny to turn fire into a doomsday weapon that is as much of a threat to you as it is to the bugs unless you’re really careful. The only issue with that is that planets with fire tornadoes would no longer be enjoyable. I mean they already suck, but imagine if they were even worse.
Edit: completely off topic, but if you feel like the bug holes are just too numerous to close in the heavy nests, maybe try the grenade pistol? You’d lose the Redeemer’s spray’n’pray, but you wouldn’t need to resupply mid-fight for those big nests, and you could probably survive with just the fire. You’d have to ask the devs if stratagem fire gets overridden by other fire or vice versa, as that would determine if you could run the Breaker Incendiary or incendiary grenades for even more cc, which would further eliminate the need for the Redeemer.
That has already happened. You can hardly get lit on fire without insta dying. These devs really don't think things through when they make updates.

@bluemew6457 agreed. But there could be issues with that as currently the fire on the ground doesn't show on all helldivers screens. Can't tell you the amount of times I've been lit ablaze eith no fire near me. The ground was apparently burning a methane fire.

@@Tamachii12 I never thought about that but honestly it's possible. The issue with fire I think is a desync problem and that could cause that with mines as well. I'll have to start using them and find out.
If you’re playing in group play DO NOT bring any flame equipment Helldivers. There is a known glitch with the fire DOT only working properly for the host (and hosts can change at the start of a mission, being on your ship doesn’t guarantee being the host).
Having players join my game might mean im not host? Might explain why my inc breaker has felt a bit inconsistent
@@Rex-qx2ko Yeah, the game looks at things like internet speeds and possibly hardware capability (not 100% on that). To determine who hosts the game. So sadly fire stuff and possibly any DOT like the gas is a gamble right now. On the bright side we have an infinite grenade glitch to exploit to compensate for this clearly malicious attack on our ability to spread managed democracy. Equip the supply backpack, throw all your grenades, and as you throw the last one spam that stratagem button. If done correctly you’ll be able to throw grenades into the negatives. (Does not work for thermites).

its a load of huey , ive murdered 100rd thousands of bugs with fire damage over the past month, the dot works perfectly fine
I did a couple of missions today with a full fire loadout and it seems additive (stacks) and not replacing - but I think full testing is required 😅
First person with the flamethrower has a use, it raises the gun to your helldiver's shoulders and therefore also where the fire is coming from, so it could help clear certain obstacles and add that little bit to your high ground

Im level 30 and the list with the combustion module was the first "tier" I maxed out. I absolutely love using fire. Literally everything fire related(minus the mines mostly) is what i love running the most. At least for bugs.

There's a concept like that in Warframe where you have your Warframe's abilities that apply fire damage and you weapons, weapons have a type of mod called faction damage which multiplies damage done to a certain type of enemy, if you have a multiplier on your weapon and you attack an enemy with your weapon your abilities will do more damage because of your weapon's faction damage multiplier mod.

Love the vids mate, just a small comment, when you are playing this aggro wouldnt it be better to use a light armor with either extra nades or extra stims?
Light armor for most cases is strictly better than medium and heavy protection, it can be argued that heavy armor reduce damage by 10% and gives extra explosion stability and the medium armor has a bunch of perks related to survivability.
But also, in terms of survivability and movement when fighting bugs light armor gives you the max evasion from enemy attacks and the max sprint total travel distance in the game, said so, it's good for bugs but not for bots, that's another chapter xD
Right, but he's wearing light armor with the scout perk. Playing aggressive like this wastes the scout perk. Why not wear light armor with extra grenade perk or extra stems perk instead?

Sorry for the long explanation, i'll try to be shorter, basically, with light armor you have better evasion from enemy attacks and increased movement speed, and because placement is a big survivability factor light armor is generically better in almost every situation
@micheleinsisa8791 you know there is more than one light armor in the game right? We are saying use any of the other light armors because they have better passive abilities while still maintaining the movement speed of the scout armor

Yes sadly, tested it today. Only the host can do any fire damage, it does nothing for other players

Also love the flamethrower, got 700+ kills first after the patch lol. I do use the breaker incidenary . Loadout is shield, flame thrower, airstrike and precision railgun. I use the incidenary to light them from fire from afar, when they are close the flamethrower finishes them off.
I need to try aiming at weak spots.
Also with incendiary breaker you can light them on fire and kite them without being too immobile.
To the people asking why you went for more kills in other videos, not only is it fun but doing so here and there means more fighting, more practice, more time learning best ways to take out/down your enemies in game

It seems to be both from what I've seen. At least chargers die faster now when focusing on one of their legs compared to before.
I have to admit, the Firebat loadout is damn fun! Now we just need fire resistance like you said and it's over for them democracy-hating bugs!

that is pretty sick. i'm excited to try it now. but i think i have 2 steps to get it. i need to get step 3 and then 4. so it'll probably be nerfed before i can get to try it out.
One thing that the comments did not really touch on or shown is that bile spewers can be the bane of flamer builds, sure he has a shotgun and impact nades, but if bugs get unctrollable and he hits on a random patrol on later levels, flamer maybe moot. That and random stalkers.
About Bile titans, if either of their bile sacks are broken, they cannot spit at all.

I never thought to aim for the legs with the flamthrower. I was always going for the exposed parts (belly or rear). Cant wait to try it seeing as most peeps i play with always bring quasar or EAT
When going aggressive with the flamethrower I always use the light armor medic set, cuz I burn through stims when accidentally lighting myself on fire and the extra duration can make me stand my ground while firing the flamethrower, also the scout perk is just a waste when playing aggro

I have the new ship module and I just ran the flamethrower and i stg it took a full canister to kill one charger while shooting at the leg. My napalm also seemed to be doing less dmg than it should, like even less than without the module
Kills don't matter, but being able to kill FAST does
Either to prevent enemy reinforcements, take care of an unplanned breach in time so they don't alert the whole map, or to purposely trigger a breach away from the objective, so the objective guys are safe to do whatever for about 2 minutes (unless there are scripted breaches)
@takibo when you catch fire how are you putting it out so quickly? Feel if I catch fire I die unless I spam stimulant

Diving immediately puts out your fire. But when fighting against Scorcher Hulks or Suicide Bots you are often put in a ragdoll state, so diving is out of the question for that and you can only look a you burning out.
The moment they drop fire resist armour we will be unstoppable. Where is my flamethrower secondary so i can have a full napalm loadout?

I don t know who would complain about you playing to get kills seems a bit odd to judge someone for playing a game a certain way, especially if it s solo. I get your point about the breaker incendiary and it s something i didn t think about until now, we don t really know if the dot (damage over time ) is stacking or not, maybe that s something the devs can clarify now that the fire weapons are more used. Anyway your gameplay is fun to watch and it made me wanna try more solo play so keep up the good work
You also need that person tho that’s what I don’t understand either. You have the others focus on objectives while one guy focuses on distracting and killing bugs so that they don’t get in the way and interfere with what we’re trying to do.

If im not mistaken, fire dot is the same no matter how you applied it. Flamethrower deals big dmg now because its pure fire daamge thats buffed with the ship upgrade. Nreaker incendiary (again if im not mistaken) deals normal damage but sets ennemies ln fire on impact.

so i dropped into a a random bot match, went with smoke grenades extra ammo, extra lives, extra stims. Ran around as support, stimming allies and providing smoke screens so we could move up to nade them or disengage. end of match i had like 35 kills and everyone else had about a hundred.
I had zero deaths. team leader says "look at that almost no shots fired and no kills, goodbye" and kicks me.
So kills apparently matter.
Whoever kicked you is an idiot. Idc if someone has minimal kills as long as they were playing the objective and not dying a ton. Just keep the democratic faith fellow diver, some people are just jerks
They added the 25% fire damage buff ship upgrade as a preemptive consolation for the *heavy* nerf fire stuff is about to get lol

Doubt a heavy nerf. You need to be right in the enemies face to damage them. It also has a very high friendly fire rate (de sync, someone running nearby and the flames blowing from a bug to them.). It’s also only good for bugs since bots are medium range. It’s a specialized close range weapon for bugs. The main issue with nerfing it right now is that the dot doesn’t work which takes away some of its damage. A nerf to it would also probably just be 25-10% since it would apply to all fire which would in directly nerf fire nades and fire breaker.
I doubt fire is getting a nerf, as long as the desync issue still persists. And even then I don't think it will get nerfed too hard, because there still is not too much value in running more than one player with it. Also you always have to think about it this way: Fire damage in this game is a universal thing. So when you nerf fire damage, you also nerf suicide bots, which like to set you on fire, hulk scorchers and fire tornados. So they really can't go too hard with that nerf, unless they want people to just run through fire tornados without issue.
This is the takibo school of running away from things. The correct way.
What do you mean the Breaker Incendiary would override the Flamethrower? The ship module doesn't mention the Breaker Incendiary specifically because it only mentions stratagems affected, but I assumed the buff applies to every source of fire damage. Is it not that way?
The recent fire update is not for the Breaker Inc. It was for Napalm AS, Flamethrower, and Inc mines. He meant that the Flamethrower DOT is on and then you shoot with Inc Breaker, it will replace and not add the additional flame damage.

One thing I would have really wanted in this would be to cross more status effects, which is the whole problem with bringing an incidiary breaker and a flamer. They cancel each other out when it comes to DOT. As of now we basically have static, fire, gas strike (one strat....) and direct or aoe DMG. Would be a hell of a fun to be able to combine different status effects with different weapons.
The first game did in fact have an acid thrower, so I really wouldn't be surprised if we got more weird dot stuff as well.

I used to love the flame thrower to the chargers before but since they added quasar, it because my go to. Even with the 25% upgrade, I find it useless since with the quasar I can one shot charger and take out, bug holes, spores trees, screecher nests, and bile titans.
The reason the bile titans stopped doing the spit attack is that their thorax was popped. they loose the spit attack when you pop that
Im fine with a small nerf if they also nerf the amount of damage you take when on fire and fixing the issue where I randomly catch on fire while using the flamethrower.
With how good fire is now, might be worth trying against bots too, I wonder how much it goes through the heavy ones.
well the incendiary breaker one pellet burns and kills all regular troopers. the DOT is a little slow at killing devastators but kills them all the same, you can pop in and out of cover taking pot shots at them. It completely shuts down berserkers and its a little tricky with scout walkers cuz you need to hit the pilot. Hulk battery packs pop quickly from it and the absolute volume of fire with it tho is great for affecting accuracy of all of em. its super good but, not the "meta" according to dorks.
It's amazing against bugs if you get the fourth module that further buffs fire damage, but you have to be host, since the dot damage is bugged. Would still not advise against bots with how many ranged enemies they have, and you can't kill airships.

For the titans you can blow out the sacs after a 500 hits them and that sometimes kills them. Might be the same if the sacs are gone before.
I heard they bleed out from reddit but I don't know if that's true. That might be how it died, just really slowly bled out without bile sacs.
I think the 500k will always 1 shot a titan if the projectile hits it in the head. Otherwise never sure.

Imagine, if the had a waves mission. Survive as many as you can. And instead of liberation, they have a #/# of bugs on planet. And as you kill them that ratio increases until all are killed globaly
That certainly wouldn't be out of the question for the future, but they would certainly need to properly balance some stuff more. Because with some setups you can basically hold out indefinitely, no matter what.

DId you find out whether the incendiary shotgun overrides the damage of the flamethrower?
To be fair, it's kinda hard to test out as well. Because you would need an enemy that you would suspect of dying from the dot damage of a very controlled flamethrower burst, but then while only that dot component is going on hit that enemy with a the breaker incendiary without killing it. And given how unreliable the pellet spread of the breaker incendiary is, that just sounds so painful to set up without dev commands.
FYI using Stamina booster with light armor isn't really worth it since you only get 2 seconds extra run time worth 70 m total and ofc. a faster regen :) I find Vitality booster to be really good. Coupled with light armor with Servo-Assisted because resisting injuries to limbs stacks. Saves a lot of stims in total and make you near invulerable to slows from leg injueries/chargers. Stamina booster is on the other hand really good coupled with medium armor with Servo-Assisted cause it's really noticble in this situation.
And the dot from incindary breaker doesnt cancel dot from flamethrower. Fire Dot stacks from all sources and can be directed to weak spots i.e. a chargers leg
I have heard so many different interpretations of boosters, I would take everything with a grain of salt. Given how many people claim that Stamina is a 30% increase in efficiency, I tend to believe that. But especially for Vitality, I have heard so many different things. Some claim 10% increase in overall health, some claim 20%, some even go and claim 50%. Some claim it only increases the limb health and leave your overall healh the same. Some claim it stacks with Servo-Assisted, some claim it doesn't stack with Servo-Assisted. And given how desync is such a huge issue, even for the host, it's really hard to test health. Stamina is a bit easier to test, because you aren't affected by enemies doing random stuff.
I agree that it's harder to test but aproxx 2 sec runtime isn't 5.4 sec runtime but yes you can run 30% longer with medium armor than without and the regen is 30% faster on all armors. I'm just saying that with Vitality and Servo I have get less injuries and therefor also use way less stims compared to without Vitality and still Servo. I can't imagine playing vs bugs without Servo on higher diffs.
@@loociousz But did you actually do proper testing with it, or is it just the usual "It feels better" kinda judgement? Because there is a lot of placebo effects when playing games. "This has to do something, so I am using it, and because I am using it, it feels different", even when there might not be an actual difference, either to it being bugged or other factors.
@@Schilani There has been extensive testing regarding speed and the effect of Stamina booster and for me it's not worth it unless I use atleast medium armor. That's my reasoning. Haven't found any good testing with Servo nor Fortified. Maybe because there are to many viables. So yes, might just be a feeling or placebo but rather give it a shot than the small performance increase with light armor and stamina.
