I had the same welder for over 20 years, and (I used it a lot), NEVER had any trouble with it. GREAT AC welder. I mostly ran 6013, 7014, 7018 ac, 6011. Great Video, greetings from Los Angeles, California. Thanks
Wild. I have the exact same generator and the Lincoln AC 225, same model but older (where yours has a black faceplate, mine is a brushed aluminum. It was handed down to my buddy 30 or so years ago from his dad who had used it regularly for several decades. Probably around 70yrs old and not a single issue. When I acquired it I pulled it apart before first plugging it in just to be sure that everything was in proper order and that the fan was good. Other than a good blast of compressed air and some touch-up paint on the exterior, that's it nothing required
I didn't think the generator would be able to do it but it did. Nice weld. I've got an old Forney 225 buzz box that's basically the same thing as that. It's gotta be at least 70 years old and it welds as smooth as can be. It's a beast.
Hi. Good morning. It's a powerful generator it's working good.. And your welding was also very nice.. You guy's are Really lucky working and living in cold country.😁
What’s up brother, I’m from Sparta TN and lived in Tullahoma for a long time. I’ve been through Woodbury a lot. I run a Vulcan Commander 225 AC/DC welder off a duromax 13000 watt generator and it works great. Don’t let people convince you that you can’t run inverter welders on a generator. I have also run an 80 amp inverter arc welder from HF, and a 45 amp inverter plasma cutter and they work great too. You can check out my other channel to see them work. It’s called Gillihan’s Mobile Welding. I’ll swing back by with a link. Good luck!
Another neat upgrade is something I found and shared where Hackaday wrote and article describing the and titled "Modified Tombstone Welder Contains A Host of Hacks" Even if only the rectifier part additional for DCEP/DCEN is a neat option to have as well.
Thanks for sharing the generator info and demo. Amazing the range of generators and their ratings as well as designs. 220/240VAC is usually straight forward... though the 120VAC regarding current ratings can get wonky from my perspective learning.
@@TopQualityIronWorks it didn’t work I have 3 different generators and I turned it up to 90a and I couldn’t get it to strike and stay lit and weld. I’m going to have to get a 50a circuit at my shop.
Been looking on amazon for that dog bone cable for my buzz box..cant seem to find it. How did you find it? Is there certain numbers on the adapter plugs? Any help will be appreciated thank you and a good video.
Nice bead. I have an old tombstone and a champion 4500 generator. I’m going to give it a go because I only have a 30 amp 240 service at my home. I’m going to give it a go with the generator. Good video, bro!
What size electrode are you using? Looks like 1/8” to me. I run a lincoln 225 on a generator with a 240v 50amp breaker and it trips. Wattage is 10500 running 13000 surge. Really confused as to why. Also I havent ran 6013 1/8” only 6011, which is a deep penetrating rod.
For this video I was welding with a 6013 3/32 electrode maybe that's why your breaker pops because you need more amps since it is a bigger rod.. thanks for the comment bud 👨🏼🏭🤝🏼
I have a Lincoln welder as well. It says it needs 50amps to run. On my generator I have a 30aml out and a 50amp outlet. I’m trying to figure out a plug to be able to run it with my generator. I see you ran yours through the 30amp, how is this possible?
My husband has the same welder as you, but using his welder today for the first time with a Champion 10,000 generator off 30 amp plug, it keeps tripping the breaker after 15 seconds. What do you suggest? Does it have anything to do with the ground wires, dust or dampness in the breaker switch? Thanks
How high was he running the machine on his amps? In this video I wasn't running it too high I believe it was like at 105 amps if I am not mistaken...it all depends on the thickness of the material
Ok since he is running a 1/8 rod I think is best if you run it with a 50 amp breaker ... Me personally I was welding with a 3/32nd electrode for this video
Bruh this video is awesome looked like a decent weld to I got this same welder could you tell me the adapter you got? Also would this setup work with a duromax 5500?
Yes any generator over 4k will work bit the bigger the generator the less strained it will be. You can get a 30 Amp plug to plug into your 30 Amp socket on your generator and convert it to the 3 prong welding plug for your welder.
so, if the engine quit but ya had a nice truck or car and the alternator is in the right spot that... one can weld a small plate to the alternator pully and run a small pto shaft off it and have the motor from the generator recycled onto a bracket that clips into the hood latch... something like a V8 sitting at 1200rpm would have no pull down turning one of those. - have to put two sided sealed bearings on the case shaft after modifying it to also have a knob for a pto shaft to bolt to. and better yet, could blip the throttle up to 1500rpm and the thing would be putting out 75hz 1.2 times the watt output of its advertised 60hz. some cars and stuff have those superchargers on them that use the same pully size and belt, so that would be a 15hp to 25hp pto drive... tho they make 4000watt weld generators in an all in one unit, they want like $6k $8k for those... not easy to pass that operating rate down to a client, loose a lot by billing for excessively large machine use. $50 is to dollar for a used 7kw, the engines attached to them let go at the wrong time and the replacement engine parts are proprietary to the generator engine making a rebuild like building a luxury go-cart to drive around, huge realm of inflation around those. 130amp is good for some structural stuff like axles hitches... how long the aluminum connecting rods in them last?
I have a Lincoln welder with a Briggs and Stratton generator... For the type of work that I do which is more handrails and what not I can't complain...
Hello I’m running a 5000 watt Honda generator with the tombstone welder and I’m using 6013 3/32 rods and after 10 seconds of welding the braker trips and I’m using the 4 prong plug to what do you think is the problem?
