Thank you for staying grounded and not changing, I love you even more for that! The IA is outta control! Love the lash combo! I'm in NY and here where I am, we all say thank you and you're welcome! However, I wouldn't be offended with, "No worries" lol! That post that you read is EVERYTHING! Do what you love, for yourself, no one else, we only have so much time here, and it speeds by like lightning! Can you and Jessica Braun do a video together? You're both my favs! Don't work too hard! Also love your book reviews. You are never mean or overly aggressive or negative toward an author. I love the Court of Thorn and Roses series. Read it all. It gets so so much better. But there is a ton of info to keep together.

I’ve been a part of the online book community for 15 years, and NEVER have I seen the policing of reviews and toxic positivity gotten so bad!!! Reviews of books are not reviews of a person, it’s a review of a piece of media or art, no different than a movie or painting. If I don’t like Picasso’s paintings or Christopher Nolan’s movies does that hurt their feelings?? No!!! Is it a reflection of my feelings about a person who does like them? Also NO!!! Are reviews for authors to read praise of their work?? TRIPLE NO!!! So why all of a sudden are people acting like bad reviews of books is a morally bad thing?? Reviews are for other readers to read before buying a book, to determine if they’ll buy, or to read another perspective about a book once it’s completed. If you like a piece of work so much that you can’t hear negative opinions on it, don’t read bad reviews! Luckily they all come with a star rating so it’s super easy to skip the ones you don’t want to read!! I literally got a nasty message from stranger because of a bad review I left for Fourth Wing, so I feel very strongly about this currently! Lol

I think people (I blame the media and cancel culture ) are having a difficult time learning how to separate a number of issues and topics. Its upsetting and scary. I think people take it as a personal attack when you don’t like something they like. I don’t think it even has to do with the creator/artist.

    • @taylorgayhart9497
      @taylorgayhart9497 Год назад +1

@@BrezookaI don’t see the connection between cancel culture and book reviews, but it definitely is coming from the authors too. There have been a ton of authors lately being called out for problematic behavior with fans, ranging from doxing people who gave bad reviews to writing page long “dedications” to someone who gave them a bad review where they trash them and call them names.

Being from Minnesota , “no worries” or “no problem “ is very common and pretty typical. Years ago I changed my response at work. I almost exclusively say ”my pleasure”. It took a lot to change from “no worries” to this but it was a game changer in the work place. That then naturally led to me say “You’re welcome” in every day. It does feel a bit formal but also once you’re used to it so natural. Also, it feel appropriate to acknowledge the thanks ☺️ it’s the little things some days.

We need to remember what beauty is. It's not perfection. It's memorable. That's what beauty is. It's the gap in Lauren Hutton's teeth, Cindy Crawford's mole, Elizabeth Taylor's lavender eyes. Dolly Parton's camp. There has to be something unique because unique is what we remember. AI can't create that. We've all seen a million beautiful women, but few we remember unless there's something memorable about them that stood out. So I never felt I needed to be perfect as no one remembers that. They remember how you made them feel, your personality, your unique sense of style, witty humor, things like that and THEN they remember you're beautiful too. That's the goal. Shoot for that, because it's all those things combined that give you beauty. It's what's imperfect that makes you perfect,
I don't compare myself to others because I'm unique and no one else can be me, and I can't be anyone else. I wouldn't want to be as ya never know there's may well be worse behind the scenes. I do get inspired by others all the time and that's good. It's only dangerous when you compare yourself and feel bad if you aren't the same. I don't look at a supermodel and think I should be tall like that or have hair like that, because no one's paying ME to be a supermodel, you know? So I don't need to look like one. No one thinks I'm ugly because I'm getting wrinkles (well, I'm 60 so it would be weird if I didn't) because I'm not getting paid a fortune to make sure I don't get them. Us regular humans get to just age gracefully and be who we are and have fun personalities and quirky habits with a scrunchie in our hair. We can all rock that.

Omg, so many thoughts on this video! As a teacher, we always were “reviewed” to help us learn and grow as educators. If we aren’t honest in reviews, how can anyone improve? I don’t have any social media, no TikTok, instagram, etc. My husband and I also switched to “dumb” phones and it was the best decision I think we’ve made. We are so much more present and less stressed. Our families think we are nuts, but we love it!!

Thank you for speaking on AI.
The other day I was on fb and this (to me) very obviously AI generated image of Santorini Greece was shared; it was depicted almost as a water park with water slides embedded into the architecture of the local village, with very odd looking "people" going down them. It had over 30k reacts and many, many comments; people tagging their friends like, "let's go here!",:"Wowwww so beautiful!!".
I didn't see ANY comments saying, hey folks, this is not real.
In that moment it really scared me. I've never been to Santorini but it only took a few moments of googling what the villages in Santorini look like and no, they are not waterparks 😅🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤣
I'm just appauled at how gullible people are. Its very concerning to me. People need to exercise critical thinking FAST.

Your comment about dating made me think of a song I heard on TikTok last night… it’s by Rose Betts and one of the lines is “the best part of the date today was driving myself home”.
She sings about how it was a nice date and a pleasant experience, but the drive home by herself with the windows down and radio on was the best part of the night.

With only one it was hard to tell since my migraines start in the middle of my brows. I also notice that when I do get migraines, or when I am going to be getting one, my piercings will not lay flat in my ear, they will stick out which is actually a good indicator for me that I should take my meds asap and they work more effectively, so personally for me, I’d absolutely recommend and usually do for people who have chronic migraines!

Okay I am very passionate about this topic. I don’t understand when people think that “no worries” or “no problem” is rude. In my mind, if I say “you’re welcome” it’s because I feel like I specifically did something for you and I deserve to be thanked for it. (That’s the best I can put it without sounding snooty) but me saying “no problem” or “no worries” is me telling you that I am more than happy to do something for you. I think no problem or no worries sounds better and more positive, like compared to saying you’re welcome because you went out of your way for for someone.

I loved the honesty, thought, and understanding that goes into the statements you are making. They aren’t knee jerk reactions. The other thing is you aren’t a conspiracy theorist to realize there will be people that cannot handle the new world that is evolving right before our eyes. We already have that in many places. My concern is the absolute lack of privacy and then serious life decisions can be made based on that lack of privacy. For instance a doctor knowing more than just presented medical history and making a life changing diagnosis based on now having knowledge they would not have otherwise been able to access before. There some real concerns and no stops or walls on any of it because the tech goes exponentially faster than regulatory approvals.

I work in publishing, and oof, the policing of reviews by authors is not the way!! I do understand that putting a book out in the world is so personal, and it can feel like a negative review is a reflection of you, but it truly is not. In fact, a negative review means your book is probably getting to broader circles and reaching people beyond your base audience. Again, I get it when authors don’t love negative reviews, but taking it as critique to improve your craft and moving on is truly the best way to handle it. Also, so happy you’re still on YT. 💜 Sending spoons and hoping you’re having some better health days soon!

I work in Regulatory for a skincare company. More than likely, the FTC will make people/companies disclose anything AI generated similar to sponsorships now. It’s always changing and evolving and you’re correct, the FDA cannot catch up. They mostly rely on other companies to regulate each other with claims and then it’s all lawyers. It’s a weird space for sure. As a Regulator, we don’t even have all the tools to know HOW with the fast rate of technology. Some companies take advantage for profits and some are more conservative.

I can honestly say when it comes down to it no one has ever stopped me from watching something or trying something if I myself really want to watch it or try it, if I'm already iffy about it that's when reviews come in handy for me but only cause I was already on the fence about something. Even then it might still not stop me, so you keep doing you cause obviously we love your content.

Everyone gets feedback in their job/career. I get evaluated on what I'm expected to do in my job weekly, monthly, and yearly. Sure, don't be intentionally cruel when rating a book, but sharing what you like and don't helps other readers decide if it's for them or not. It could also help the author improve if they want to.
It's ironic people are so critical of the "everyone gets a trophy" style of child-rearing and want to spare professional, adult authors from some feedback about their book.

Re the book review thing - in many creative settings critique is so important that "crit" is part of your training as an artist, designer, writer etc. Even in agency or consultancy critique is a way of life. You are told to share openly and share often, and sometimes you get told to your face it is bad. The thing you worked on is bad. But, if its bad - its bad and you need to know.

I had never heard that before either. I still respond this way mostly, as do a lot of people I know. I’m curious if that is a regional thing and what regions.

I was genuinely surprised when you said there were whole Reddit threads about you, so I went to go read them and then couldn’t help but laugh at what some people were complaining about. You have no obligation to be “relatable” to everyone. You show your life how you live it, and you shouldn’t have to hide that or filter it so that others feel better about themselves. You’re not “flaunting” anything, your life is your life and you come from where you come from. Just because someone else doesn’t live that same life or doesn’t come from that same background, doesn’t mean you need to shut up about or hide yours. Some people just need to complain to feel better about themselves and their own situations, and it honestly has nothing to do with you. They just need a punching bag for their own insecurities🙄 keep up your content, I love your videos

I saw a meme that was just a screen grab of a Pride and Prejudice review. The review went "literally nothing happens, just a bunch of people going to each other's houses". From that, I took three things. 1 - Jane Austen would have laughed at that, because, of course that reviewer lost the entire point of the novel, and her feelings wouldn't have been in the least hurt; neither should be any author's, over shallow reviews. 2 - a shallow review can be hilarious and can end up enriching the cultural zeitgeist through its ignorance, and we should protect all sources of comedic potential. 3 - there genuinely is a segment of the population that would find that useful, because they have no patience for reading between the lines, or analysis, or exploration of a different era and its protocols, and (I guess) that's fine, they should be left alone to guide each other through what's worth reading to them

That’s my attempt at paraphrasing it lol.

I was convinced the cervical pillow I got was helping, and now there have been a couple of weeks where my neck hurts more when I wake up and it induces headaches. But, also, my neuro told me to take magnesium, ubiquinol and B6, and I have been forgetting to take those on a daily basis, so I don't know if that's it, or even the season change could be a factor... it is always a mess trying to figure out what helps and what doesn't. I read once that the whole "no worries/you're welcome" is a generational thing...
older generations feel that the act of helping or assisting someone is seen as a task that is not expected of them, but is them doing extra, so it's them saying "I accept your thanks because I know I deserve it"
"No problem / no worries" is used because younger people feel that not only helping/assisting someone is a given and is expected but also should be stressed that your need for help was no burden to them (even if it was)..
Older people think help is a gift you give, younger people think help is an expectation required of them
Btw, I'm from Illinois and in my experience people under 45 say "no problem/no worries".. people over 45 say "you're welcome"
(I saw the explanation on Pinterest, but it wouldn't let me post the picture so I wrote it out)

Hi Taylor! I have been watching you since the leopard robe days. I'm usually not one to comment because I feel that I often don't have anything to contribute to the comment section. I really resonated with your opinions about policing reviews. One of my favorite courses I took in college was an art history class where we had to go around the class and critique different works of art. It was a challenging course because there were a variety of opinions in the class. For example, I really enjoyed one art piece we critiqued because I found it beautiful (I loved the color scheme the artist used to portray her emotions about a subject) but another classmate wasn't fond of it at all. At the end of the day everything is subjective - something I like or find enjoyable won't be the same for everyone.
I'm trying to read more these days and I often use book reviews to try to figure out what to read next. I get overwhelmed with so many options sometimes, so reviews are a good way for me to narrow down my choices as well. These days I'm trying to read from AAPI authors and I find reviews a good way to discover new authors and venture out of my usual genres.
Thank you for all the hard work Taylor!

Constructive feedback is a good thing. Of course, it's not just what you say, but how you say it. The day you stop knowing is the day you stop growing. Oh, and this AI. UGH! Taylor, with your health RUclips is in a way a blessing. If you have a bad health day you can rest. 9-5 would be much harder for you. Just disregard the tacky comments and delete them! ❤❤❤❤ I have watched you for many years!

I wouldn’t have a 9-5 again for sure, that wouldn’t be possible right now but I have other business ventures I could pursue further that would be flexible too. But yes youtube is amazing in so many ways and I’m very fortunate to be able to still do it and have y’all watch!! 🖤🖤🖤

Taylor, thank you for stepping back on things like political issues. I love having the ability to watch creators I enjoy without worrying about political differences or even dealing with politics at all, so I can escape the heaviness of these days and just enjoy you and the conversation, review, vlogs, etc.! I truly appreciate you!
