I've recently got hold of an Egger-Bahn Sentinel railcar lookalike and it's undeniably charming, though tends to run very hot despite cleaning the commutator as best as I could. Do the magnets of these little units need to be redone, or was the one in your steam tram good from the beginning? And how do the dimensions of the "Elias" compare with one of Kato's little chassis?
The Egger railcar is slightly reminiscent of a Sentinel, but its origin is German and therefore quite different. Solving the trouble of running hot depends on the type of motor fitted. I think there have been three or even more different motors in Egger chassis. The motor I re-used in the steam tram is similar to that used in Minitrix 0-6-0 chassis of the same age. So it could easily be fitted to the Minitrix chassis. After Jouef took over the range in the 1970s, they substituted a different motor and drive train. If you wish advice on the matter, contact me via the 009dutch website: www.009dutch.nl.
Seems to be a better runner as with the old Egger chassis and motor. Great!
Very very nice layout! Gratulations! Greetings from Dampf-Hannes!
My brother had a small Egger bahn set
A 6,3 to 1 ratio gearhead Faulhaber micromotor would be the gamechanger at slow speeds l.
