So, if you pay $8 a day for room, food, & drink, how do you think the locals live? Don't be fooled. They appear happy. They live in warehouses with hundreds packed in & hope their dogs have puppies so they won't starve. Communism is fricking fantastic, unless you actually live under the oppressive iron fist of deadly authoritarianism these people experience daily.

A decent bow of pho in Saigon costs 50 000 ~ 60 000 dong which is equivalent to $2 -2.5.

viet nam? almost weekly basis. you never become acclimated. and this whilst living in upmarket/expat areas, with local girlfriends, etc.

Vietnam is such a great place. It's very safe, but then that's most of Southeast Asia. Vietnam has variety in food, and it depends where you go, what you eat, it can be very cheap, and very expensive. We found a place called 21 or something, it was in a mall in Saigon, two of us fed for £5, really good food and drinks. But then for my 40th birthday, we went to a really nice steakhouse and had the best night, came to £70, but that was three steaks, three starters, a bottle of red wine and dessert. What a night that was. Hoi An was unreal.

Vietnam is a country where it's very cheap and at the same time, you can feel relatively safe. I mean, yeah, Somalia, Syria and Afghanistan are probably cheaper, but will you feel safe and enjoy yourself there? 🤔 I live in Norway, one of the most expensive countries in the world, but I don't want to go to Ukraine right now just because it's the cheapest in Europe lol

    The world's smallest violin
    Really needs an audience
So if I do not find somebody soon (that's right, that's right)
    I'll blow up into smithereens
    And spew my tiny symphony
Just let me play my violin for you, you, you, you
    Somewhere in the universe
    Somewhere someone's got it worse
    Wish that made it easier
Wish I didn't feel the hurt
    The world's smallest violin
    Really needs an audience
So if I do not find somebody soon
    I'll blow up into smithereens
    And spew my tiny symphony
All up and down a city street
While tryna put my mind at ease
    Like finishing this melody
    This feels like a necessity
So this could be the death of me
Or maybe just a better me
Now, come in with the timpanis
And take a shot of Hennessy
I know I'm not there mentally
But you could be the remedy
So let me play my violin for you
