I never really noticed before how Gulfem had her little bit if spite towards Mahi about Alexandra, it hind sight it was a payback for what Mahi also did to her and she let her suffer just a little.
I loved that - she was ready to be welcoming and helpful to the woman who deposed her, but when Mahidevran played the 'I'm the sultana, you are just a childless favourite who wanders around and doesn't do much (as M told Gulshah later)", Gulfem thought, "Okay you want to be like that, let's play." :)
Since he's 5 , mahi had told Mustafa that he's the owner of the palace. Not his father's. That's what makes Sulaeman put his guard up against his first son.
It would have made perfect sense for Gulfem to be Hurrem's ally. It really does not make any sense she'd support Mahidevran. What a waste of a character, generally.
I think Gulfem supports mostly Hatice. But even then, the show did everything to put Hürrem and Hatice at odds. Even when it didn't really fit the narrative.
Mahidevran kind of ruined her chances by going to the chamber. He had all this stuff imaged in his head, and was all excited basically. Then he turns around and sees Mahidevran. Must’ve been a huge turn off for him as a man. lol the kind of turn off that doesn’t really go away for abit lol.
I think it's because Gulfem was the Sultan's first woman and had children with him before Mahidevran. She wouldn't want to remember that she wasn't the first.
@@EstherChizoba-l6l it was mentioned towards the beginning of the show and then never really mentioned again. One of the newer girls asked if she was counted as a part of the royal family and was told that Gulfem was his first woman and even had children but they died.
Women seductively dancing in front of a man/king is not Islamic culture. In Islam women have very high respect and hence they cover their hair and dress up modestly. Men can approach women only after they get married . Marriage has to be approved with the permission of her parents.
This is a historical show loosely based on the Ottoman Empire where most of the women are concubines in the kings' harem, this has nothing to do with the Islamic culture you know today.
@@nidashaikh012 like I said, this is a show loosely based on historical events where they kidnap non-Muslim girls and force them into the kings' harem. The girls have been taken to the sultan without their father's permission, none were marred, all were concubines/slaves. In the show they are mostly around other women, why would they even bother covering their heads when they are only around women and slaves.
There's only one villain - Suleyman. Women throughout history have suffered because of men's infidelity. Men should have never been allowed to rule. They only have physical power. They stole most achievements from women.

Exactly - it didn't show the character of his son, who is only repeating what he is told: it gave him a glimpse of who Mahidevran is.

Agreed! As if the blood drained from his um, err, head. Rather rapidly I suspect after having the bold Crimean "wench" clearly on his mind...😉
Valide set her up without knowing tbh, they all underestimated Hurrem and it came back to bite them xd

The priceless interaction between gulfem and mahidevran
She was a bully from the very beginning
Actually, Valide did bad to Mahidevran when she sent her to the chamber, when Suleiman was waiting for the other woman
