  • Welcome to JustTenMoreMinutes aka JTMM aka The Freakin 10! While I liked the song, I was left with so many questions and the history cleared that up. I don't know if it was something about the sinus infection or what but the history couldn't keep my attention as well as other episodes.

There was a reference to this in the film "Battle of Britain",
as they broke radio silence, ruining the element of surprise.
    Exiles from their own countries.
There were Polish refugee camps near our local airfields,
some of the temporary buildings are still there.
We still have a lot of Polish speaking locals, we are extremely grateful for their ancestors sacrifice.
When I asked a lady if she needed any help, she gave me a ticket for a shopping car park, she had a Polish accent.
The supermarkets have a Polish section:
    Lajkonik Pretzel Salty Sticks,
    Morliny Berlinki Chicken Hot Dogs,
    Virtu Pierogi Z Kapusta I Grzybami. :)
My Art teacher was Polish, a lovely kind man, he had been through hell as a child in the war.

Think about it: A very big controversy during the London Victory Celebrations on June 8, 1946 was caused by the exclusion of Polish soldiers who, fighting in the Polish Forces in the West, were one of the numerous fighting nations on the side of the Allied forces. The only Polish combat organization invited to participate in the parade were the pilots of 303 Squadron, who were supposed to march in the ranks of the RAF, but declined after other Polish troops were not invited to the parade. The Polish Forces in the Wwst weren't invited not to stay in a way to Stalin who didn't sent his representation for Celebration :(
I like your video, your thinking, thanks! Aces in Exile - a great song!

The second parts of the histories they do tend to focus further on more personal stories within the main topic. So part two in this instance focuses on some of the individual pilots who made up the Aces, telling their personal stories and the adventures they went on to reach and then fight in the Battle of Britain.

Arrogance is definitely the right word. Just think how the west has and in many ways still describe the polish soldiers defence of Poland. Many had never heard of the battle of Visna or the brave that took part in the Uprising before Sabaton made songs of them

Next should be Far From the Fame about one of the Aces.

The thing with the slavs (Polish, Chech, Slovak etc.) was that they were considered "less" by basically everyone who were not slavs, but the level of treatment was obviously worse from certain countries...
The (other) song about the Czech (Czechoslovak at the time) pilots & Karel Janoušek:
"Far From The Fame" is a good song too (and I really like the guitars on it).
Because Joakim's mom is czech by birth (from Prague I think, moved to sweden with Joakim's swedish dad) makes it extra extra cool when they play anything involving czech history live in Czech Republic!
I don't remember if anyone has told you, but Tommy was actually a Sabaton fan years before he joined them. He bought some albums (or "bought"😉) and saw several shows.
He even wen't to Falun to the annual Sabaton Open Air Festival to see Sabaton (it was still called Rock City Falun, but they changed the name so it would be more obvious to people that it is a festival organised by Sabaton for Sabaton fans). Tommy even has fan selfies & autographs with/from the (original) bandmembers ...including Joakim & Pär😄
They met several times (after shows, drinking etc.) and at least Joakim kept in touch with Tommy, so when they needed 2 new guitarists & a drummer in 2012, they asked him, but Tommy wanted to try his own band & solo stuff at the time, so they got Thobbe Englund & Chris Rörland for the guitars.
They asked Tommy again in 2016 when Thobbe wanted to slow down and do solo stuff. Tommy was a friend and getting along with everyone is very important part of being a Sabaton member. It's not just about being a good musician to get in.
Thobbe "approved" his replacement and they had Tommy on board (and practising the songs with them) for some weeks before Thobbe actually played his last show.
That song they mention about the UN peacekeepers (the blue berets/ blue helmets) is "Light In The Black" It's one of those forgotten gems for me. Less famous song, but I really like it!

I like part 2 because it goes on a more personal level about the aces.

You should definitely watch part 2. It adds a lot of context.
This is on of the tracks that I prefer the history behind the song rather than the song itself

Always enjoyed this song and the history. Here in England I grew up in W London near the 'Polish War Memorial' which has the squadrons and pilots fr Battle Of Britain listed on it, so it's always cool when you can have a bit of a local connection to such things. Like I am sure 'To Hell And Back' will have a special connection for you, as the soldier in question was from Texas.
