Left one on a trailer in CA. Drove back 2 hrs to get it. Called dealer, they found it and left it where we could get it back.
I made a photocopy of my plate and laminated it between a couple layers of packing tape to use as a temporary plate just in case I leave/lose my plate. Never had to use it but good to have just in case.
Good idea
Haha, I've done this 3 times lol. Twice the dealer mailed it back at their expense, and once I paid for it to be mailed to me.
You got lucky. Lol
It is critical to always put your equipment and tools away in the same location. Then you can visually see what is missing.
Agreed, we do that too and our plates are always in our passenger door panel, but doing this now for several years we see how easily people can get distracted and accidents happen. But great point about keeping your stuff in specific places
How you guys liking star fleet
We really like them. Very friendly and everyone in the office have been great to work with.
Okay with all the RV haulers videos out there, Why has not one of you haulers made a pick up list of steps and a drop off check list? I think I have seen only one check list video and it was not all that good. Hope you make a check list video.
We really don’t do live videos, we are lazy I think lol but when we do our videos, we do 1 to 10 at a time in our home. But…. We did post a long time ago on our resource page on our website helpful documents, one is called Pre trip check list and the other is post trip check list. We made them printable so new people could print copies and refer to them during each dispatch until they got comfortable. Hope these help and if we missed anything please let us know. There should be a lost of left over plate with the cut backs going on. I just read where one of the RV factors will be closing for good in September, they just sent 140 employees notice that they would be out of a job. Price of fuel is to high for people.
Yes a lot of people have quit transporting, but an equal amount are hiring on or trying to at the same time, it’s just the life’s circle of rv transport, for one that quits 20 more are looking to fill that void. Yes a plant is shutting down and a lot of people lost their jobs, we don’t know the whole story so we don’t want to comment on that. We are told at dealerships their sales are still high but a recent article says it’s going in the toilet. When the parts shortage happened twice the rv industry was going to be dead they said too. Old timers say this industry is like a roller coaster, it’s true. We have survived two parts shortages and this year the plant shut downs, we are still going on with the view that we will come out ahead. One thing is fuel prices are actually coming down and our discounts are getting much better.
Just so few loads out there right now, as least on Waves board. Hard to stay busy and keep the $$ rolling in. Only way I have been able make it this summer is by taking loads out East where I can take advantage of the $2.35 fuel at the stationin PA. I know a bunch of folks have left, or aren't running right now. Hope it does pick up soon. The dealers I have delivered too all have packed lots, so I take news of RV's selling well with a healthy dose of skepticism...
