  • A recent voyage to El Segundo, California, brought us to the doors of the Mattel headquarters. Inside, we were given the chance to take a behind-the-scenes look at the Hot Wheels design studio, and spent some time with the head of design. We learned all about the brand's design ethos, new products and the never-ending joys of being a toy designer. Also on show was the brand's latest Car Maker product, which gives you the chance to mold custom Hot Wheels at home.

Bone Shaker, Twin Mill, Deora II, Slingshot, Krazy 8s, Vulture, etc. NEVER GETS OLD. I've made afew vehicle designs myself, mostly cars and one truck so far. Since I'm 20 and been through a few jobs in my life, I won't stop at a lazy effort or low quality work. Every aspect must look fantastic to the eyes, ears, and right in the feels. I AM HotWheels.

You think that the hotwheel mob will bring out a series of "Mad Max" cars [from MAD MAX 4] ? I hope to see if they do.

I'm a collector of original redlines and the early rare stuff. I know you need to keep the product fresh especially with the younger generation. The problem i have is hotwheels like to anniversary a hard to find original casting or a hot secondary market casting to appease the new collector who for some reason, don't like to payup a bit. I don't mind if you buy the pegged hotwheels for a dollar or less and collect stay there and be happy. A true collector, just doesn't want hotwheels to come out and redo a casting that was hard to find and to get , in a new package just so those dollar collector crybabys who don't want to payup some for to have , oh well life sucks. True Collector have to love a casting and some will pay up for , but for Mattel to burn those collectors with repackaged diecast that the secondary market shows to be hard to get and find is Bull s!#t. Two examples the Wonder woman invisible airplane the plain jane one secondary market value was up there and then they came out with a second one , but in different package , i thought it was dumb to make anyway and the gold hummer you had to mail order to get then made it a Toys r Us exclusive to get rid of the rest that was left because not enough collector mail order or they Mattel got mad because of secondary market value and wanted to slow it down and did and there is many more examples. I'm not all in on hotwheels collecting anymore , my opinion.
