She consideres that baby hers only! Poor dad! But that's nature, she will protect and love that baby with her life if necessary! And yes, unfortunately they are in grave danger of extinction due to greedy deforestation!
That bird is huge I’ve seen perengrine falcons one flew along side me as l walked and he was enormous this bird has to be bigger and those powerful wings amazing
This is why the males evolved to be smaller. They have to eat on the go and keep that big heifer happy by constantly bringing in food for her and the nestling(s) to eat. If the males sat around and had the female bring in the food, they would be much thicker.
Oh my gosh, what amazing footage! Stunning from the whiteness of the yawning baby, to the father landing with a monkey, to Mother protecting the baby with wings all spread out. Must have been something to see! ( is it an Eaglet no matter what kind of Eagle?) How high in the tree where you. Thank you.
Thank you Laura! We were sitting on a tower, about 30 meters high, eye level with the Harpy Eagle nest, it has been amazing experience! Looks like eaglets of many eagle species are in white colour when they are small, but as they grow, they will gain the similar feather colours to their parents'.
Had a dream that one of these harpies was going after my family while we were swimming, though in my dream they were much bigger. Able to pick up a large man. This is stellar footage
Hahah. I had a dream like that too except it wasn't with a harpy eagle it was with a giant sized hornet flying around my house coming after me and my family. The hornet was like the size of a full-grown person lol. It was terrifying.
Thanks for your comment! As far as I know, there is no live cam to observe this particular nest of Harpy Eagle, but not sure about other harpy eagle nests. It would be cool if people could observe these amazing raptors with live cam.
Such rare beautiful footage Harpy eagles are my favorite along with Crowned eagles. Are Harpy's endangered? Does their future look promising? I would hate to see these majestic birds become extinct.
Com uma envergadura de 2,50m nas asas e com garras poderosas...a maior ave de rapina do mundo pega um macaco como se fosse um brinquedinho. Impressionante
I think the eaglet should have fledged, when I filmed it, it was one month old, now it should grow to adult size and be able to fly around the nest, if nothing happened.
The harpy eagle's genus name Harpia and species name harpyja are both New Latin for harpy and its species name is also a throwback to its first scientific name Vultur harpyja. I bet it was because harpy eagles are fearsome and rapacious like the mythical Harpies and will snatch folivorans and platyrrhines from trees like the Harpies were known to snatch people and things from Earth. By folivorans, I mean "sloths." By platyrrhines, I mean New World "monkeys." Can you believe that?
Hi Alejandro, thanks for your comment! I used Sony A7R4 + FE 200-600mm zoom lens and Sony RX10 Mark 4 for this short Harpy Eagle film, RX10 Mark 4 is mainly for the slow motion parts, the rest is with A7R4.
@@charlestagara3963 I filmed this nest in December 2019, the baby was 1 year and 3 months old (hatched in November 2019), it takes around 2 years for the Harpy Eagle to grow into adult after being hatched and leave the nest, no information about the baby, but I would assume baby could still survive.
Hello. For me this bird is the most beautiful with the steller's sea eagle. Kiss from France
Beautiful eagle! Honestly every eagle are beautiful bird of prey! Should be 100% be protected!
So rite 100 percent 🙌
They are protected. INTERNATIONALLY. The penalty for harming any Eagle is severe.

The father just brought food and the mother immediately scared him away. 😂
I felt sorry for the father 😂
he also ate half the damn thing so she's probably mad that that's all he gave her and the baby lol

🤣
maybe the mother grumbled because the father ate it and only gave him wife n baby the rest.

that animal deserves be Brasil's icone. not that yellow motley dog..
Haha, totally agree! The majority of harpy eagle population is in Brazil.
