Hi, my son is 9 yr. old. Do we need to give him toys appropriate for his age and stop playing with singing? Her OT said we need to stop the singing in our playtime because it's not appropriate for his age.

Hi thank you for reaching out. We do encourage age-appropriate play activities for kiddos wherever possible. However, depending on your child's developmental age, it would also be important in ensuring that your child is motivated by the play and we would recommend starting from where his motivation is the highest.
We encourage pairing his current motivation with the new activities that you may be trying to introduce to him. For example, if your child likes songs, you may incorporate some singing when building lego sets, which is an age appropriate activity.
We hope that this is helpful. If you would like to discuss more specific strategies for your child, do reach out to us at enquiries@autismmalaysia.com and our team will be able to get in touch with you. Thank you.
