I met Frank and not only was he a great player but a down to earth cool guy… Both are just monsters. Frank was my inspiration to start playing the gypsy style.
I love these guys, Bruno, Vignola and Strayhorn--three of a kind ya couldn't beat with a full house. When I was a kid, my dad often played the Ellington Orchestra version of this tune on Sunday mornings--my kinda church. Thanks, Mr Vignola, Mr Bruno and Mr Strayhorn.

This is my first exposure to Jimmy Bruno. I have to say, he plays with a feel that seems really authentic. Not that the others are fake, just that he seems like an anchor for people who want beautiful fun. Frank is great too. Love his picking. But what a treat to meat Jimmy.
Two fine musicians, one young, one "mature" playing so wonderfully cool. Great video - feels like i'm almost there. And the ending - leaving off the usual end flourish - together - on time. Just leaves me wanting more - Love it!

I have the recordings for these sessions from True fire. They were just great. I gotta get back to this song. The direct recording from "those" direct mikes, as opposed to the "room" mike, we hear in this video, sounds much better.
Love the mostly acoustic tone of these two. Both monsters... but I love the fact that you're hearing the guitars and not so much drenching in reverb and "warmth." Playing bright like this, you're technique has to be wayyyyy clean lol.

I got to play with one him once. I had absolutely no business doing so, but he insisted! Great person as well as a great musician.

2 of the greatest guitarists ever... period. And they're Italian paesano's too... you can't get any better than that.
They probably make the best gravy too… just ask them.
Frank and Jimmy are my favorite Jazz guitarists. I had a blast hearing and hanging with them at the Big Jersey Jazz Camp. 👍
