I'm pretty well travelled but I still remember my child like delight stepping off the metro in Brussles and being able to get a freshly baked hot waffle smothered in ice cream of your choice with chocolate sauce. How I left that country still fitting in a plane seat I'm still not sure.
Flemish woman here, relocated to the lovely Balinrobe area. Happy to see this one 😁 I'll send you some melocakes as well. One of my absolute favourites.

Watching your videos brings back memories of living in Erin 2008-2011. What a sense of humour the Irish have, I laughed till I cried for three years. You make me miss the place. Best wishes from Oz!! Graham
Santa was the bishop of Myra in turkey. He’s wearing the traditional bishops hat. He was declared a saint by the pope so Santa means saint. Saint Nicholas and Santa clause are both acceptable title and one and the same
We have a restaurant in Montreal, which serves Belgian waffles, some with strawberries, icing sugar and whipped cream, mmmmm, but loads of sugar, delicious! Terri Leckner, Montreal
Hi G. Youve probably already have been told this, but you have telly appeal, .... dead serious, im going to peer into the future and make a prediction, some evening when im cooking my dinner and half listening to the very small telly in the kitchen, im going to hear your distinctive voice presenting some show. 👏👏👏
I love wafers and waffles! We do have spice biscuits here (in Ireland) from Lotus. Plain and filled with custard cream. Some cafés and restaurants have the spiced biscuits with the coffees! Really nice!
Love the show, you’re just doing alright for yourself ain’t bucko? Here in the states we used to call it “live the life of Riley “ which meant “sweet” by the way, has anyone ever told you that you tend to whistle when you speak? I find it endearing. The Irish charm has hooked me. ☘️
A Belgian friend went home and brought back a box of Cote D'or chocolates to share, and even the smell of it before I took a bite was amazing. Legendary chocolate.
Isn’t that chocolate the best and sparkling tea is new! St. Nicholas is the original Santa. The deli choc looks surprisingly good. I may need to move to Belgium…
Half Belgian, half Irish person here. They speak Flemish and French in Beligium. Destrooper waffles are indeed Flemish. You don't need to heat Suzi waffles, though microwave would be better than toaster. You dont need to put anything on them either. We also have a type of bread you can buy in the bakery that has sugar kernals in it similar to Suzi waffles. It's called zuiker brood, literally sugar bread.
Also, my great grandfather always had Leopold sweets! I had forgotten they existed. Thank you for the memory. He always had the lemon ones. I loved them!
Toppings are for tourists. Liege Waffles already have sugar pearls inside, so no need to add anything really. Brussels Waffles are rectangular without sugar inside, so we usually just add some powder sugar on top. Occasionally people may top with cream, ice cream or chocolate, but that's less common.
The pickle crisps aren't pickle flavour, they are Picallili flavoured, the mustardy kind. Also, Picalilli in Belgium tastes much sharper than it does in the UK. (Belgian living in England)
The first crisps you tried are a corn and potato snack that are “Smoked Fume” flavored. I think that’s a wonderful name for a crisp flavor. Now I need to get some of those sent to the American South (or possibly move to Belgium)
Whoever sent that should've gotten praline chocolate xD there's a lot more to Belgium that I do miss in Ireland but wouldn't want to trade even if you paid me. We speak French, Dutch (Flemish) and German :)
As people have mentioned: dutch (flemish), french and a bit of german on the side. So everything on those packets is in (at least) 2 languages (dutch and french). Great stuff! 🥳🇧🇪
I love your videos my fellow Irishman they teach me a lot of culture about Ireland and it's wild my family immigrated from Ireland to Halifax generations ago and I am about as Irish as it gets your videos explain the reason I am the way I am and it's great haha
As an official Irishman, I can confirm that there's nobody more Irish on RUclips than yourself. Jaysis, wha? To confirm I'm Irish, the cringe in me is beyond 10. You're doing a great job!
We have grill chrisps here in Sweden too. If theirs are the same as ours (and since we are kind of close I don't see why not) it's just a very strong yellow onion flavour.
Lays Grills are Smoked bacon flavour. I used to love them when I lived there. Unfortunately, the paprika version is no longer in production which was a savage combo!
Love your videos brother keep it up ! Just a suggestion made in the US but we have them here in Canada but I love to grab the Hormel gatherings company name ,Pepperoni Snack Tray but ya lol just a suggestion
I have never thought to heat up the cold wafels, i've lived in Belgium for 17years! Those suzy belgian waffels are from Liege (french name for luik) usually you get them freshly made hot covered in cream chocolate strawberries- so basically anything sweet. There are Brussels waffels aswell but the luik's ( said 'like' with a cork accent) are the ones you we see more often. gerookt/ fume is smoked. I love lays pickles, Oh and everything has to be labelled in dutch and French. Belgian Dutch is called flemish or formally as Nederlands. It is usually spelled the same but said very differently in every town and village.

The Brussels waffles are indeed served with toppings, usually powdered sugar or whipped cream, but you can also get fruit, ice cream... St. Nicholas... Saint Nick... Santa Claus.. all the same essentially but St. Nicholas was more of a historical religious person, which has devolved now into a spirit of Christmas. He was generous and saved innocent people and over the centuries became a legend and a myth, with Reindeer and a sledge that flies.

Pleasure Garron! Glad you enjoyed the selection!
Great choices Jon!
Good advice. But I'll be honest, I didn't realize the sound is shit until you mentioned it haha
Us Belgians happily welcome the endorsement of our sweets by a famous Irish man. You're always welcome to come join our sweet little country 😉
