I was raised in Hobbs. Was there in the 50's and 60's. My Dad worked Oilfield, and the big thrill of the week was a trip to Red Crow Drive in for the hamburgers. Not sure how it is now, but I loved it there, and sure miss those days. Had a lot of fun in Hobbs during school and through the First Baptist Church.
I've been here for almost a year now. My wife and I moved here from California. It's a nice little town. We like it. We had to get the heck out of Cali for many reasons. This is an Oilfield town. I do miss the mountains and the ocean but that's able to be visited on a trip back...if I decide to ever go back and visit. Lot of people knock it but the people that live here are nice.
You know you don't miss the water till the Wells gone dry. I miss shopping at Tooties super market and having breakfast at kettle restaurant on Marland smell of oil in the air
I was also born and raise there until I was thirteen and then moved to Colorado but hopefully might return to live there, also that truck stop has been there for a long long time when it was a town and country I worked with my dad down the street from there and that's how I know.
Wow! Hobbs changed a lot since the mid 80's! Born in Albuquerque,New Mexico. Raised in Hobbs until the mid 80's. Dad died and had to leave to Dallas,Texas to live with my mom. Been since 2005 when i visit Hobbs to visit my father's grave. I must go back! Dallas is ok but i miss those dry summers in Hobbs, Dallas is too darn humid, too many people and vehicles EVERYWHERE! There's no horned toads either! Kinda confused about witch direction you come into Hobbs from. I wanna say it seems like you came from Carlsbad? I remember hwy 181!
We could use more green but it's hard for plants to thrive here because of the extreme weather. But you only went through Marland, that's not the whole thing. Next time, depending on your route of course, drive through Turner or Dal Paso. It's 2018 now and a lot has changed since this.
I was born here, left when I was eight months old and moved to SE Louisiana and never went back. Ive always wondered what this place was like..... Might head out there one day and check it out, then again I migtht not.
Worst high school ever, very few of the teachers want to help anyone and they could care less if any body drops out. And don't have any of your kids go here because our teen pregnancy rate is absolutely through the roof, any administrator would be lying if they told you it's gone down and this year altogether we lost 4 amazing students one from a car wreck, one from cancer, and two from a stupid house party that got ugly. It's literally common for most girls to have bulging bellies while guys are selling and doing drugs and any gang activity. This is also what makes it harder for the rest of us because in everyone else's eyes in that school we're criminals or are bound to become one
Hobbs my home town born there grew up there till I was 7 then moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma till now, now I'm 13 but there is just a connection that I have there idk if it is cause I was born there or that it is closer to Cali cause I am goin to move to Cali when I move out but Ima visit Hobbs every now and then when I move out
1989 Little Brit fresh out of school worked there as part of his gap year. Went to a BBQ and got talking abt music. Everybody was telling me that the Stones, Def Leppard, Led Zep etc were the greatest US bands around so I laid 15 bets @ USD 10 each that 15 groups I named were British. Called a radio station to ask. Everybody paid up, which proved that Hobbs people were honest even if they were stupid. Wonder if anything has changed in Hobbs??
I don’t understand why you stopped at the scale house, it’s only for westbound eastbound doesn’t have to stop. I live in Hobbs and never stop when going eastbound
It looks no different from any other west Texas dump town. I guess northern and southern New mexico are like completely different worlds. The northern part is very picturesque with land formations everywhere. While south new mexico looks just like west texas - crap.
Yes we are different in southeast nm and hobbs is a city that has rapid growth periods wete we expand over the decades which is why the city and many city's around here are a mix match because of the oil booms and bust bringing people
KG animations actually I was born and grew up in Hobbs for 7 years and there is actually a lot of crime in my hometown these days especially bc u always see cops out everywhere there
