I read that this was Sarah Schachner's audition track, and the developers of the game liked it so much that they kept it in the soundtrack and even made it the main theme.
Not cried because I'm an idiot, but it left me with a hole in the heart... especially hearing their last reprise... This game had heart, and not just explosions, came for the space battles, left heartbroken. Shame almost nobody cares about the campaign
@@ghostsneverdie3957 they were sad, but the pure emotion that you felt, from the first mission learning that SetDef didn't value their men, comradery was one of the main themes they set up from the beginning, with the deaths of Kashima, Gator, Omar, the rest of the team, Ethan, Reyes, the Retribution completing their mission with 2 survivors. It truly is crazy how they made it all happen with one game.
2:51 - 4:14 This part was amazing and combined at the end of Operation Burn Water at the moment of Ethan and Reyes' conversation where it shows that it would be the end of the two, the music really conveys an impression of that moment.
Easily my most favourite song out of the whole game. Makes me reminisce about a lot of the good, bad, and the inbetween times throughout the entire time I've existed on this planet, Earth. So very touching...
Reyes' death was also fucking amazingly clever. I seriously thought he would just get rescued/just float out into space, but for him to have his helmet break off and stare into the never ending universe with the glass sounds slowly fading away was brilliant, and really cemented how despite the setting in space isn't "fit" for a COD game, it is nevertheless a great choice. There are no words to describe the way I felt after that ending.
This is a suggestion, why didn’t nick decide to cover his helmet when he was hit with those rocks? It could of saved his life and salter could of picked him up.

This may be funny, but this CoD is the most true to the form in terms of how old campaigns (before CoD4) were - respecting fallen soldiers of horrific war. While IW thankfully didn't happened irl, you do feel for all fallen comrades, especially after hearing audiologs at the credits. Good game.

They gave their lives to save millions of others. All on Retribution knew the stakes and were willing to make that trade. The best thing the Earth can do is remember them. Peace to the Fallen.

Listening to this track after watching a playthrough of the campaign multiple times. I really like this track, how the beginning is more grand and uplifting, fitting for celebrating a hard fought victory. The second half is more somber, a reminder that with every victory comes the mourning and remembrance of those who died to make that victory possible. That's my take on this track. Also, the well-written characters (besides the main villain) with their death messages at the credits help makes this Cod campaign so memorable and why I go back to rewatch playthroughs of it.
