  • UPDATE 11/19: In two weeks, this video had gained over 1,000 views! That is CRAZY! Thanks to all!
On 11/5/16, the Steam Railroading Institute of Owosso, Michigan held an excursion from Owosso, Michigan to Clare, Michigan in celebration of the famous Pere Marquette 1225's 75th Birthday. The locomotive exited the Lima Locomotive Works shops' doors on November 5th, 1941. The engine pulled the train north to Clare tender-first, most likely because of the way the SRI wanted the engine to be displayed in Clare. Because of this, the engine had a 30mph restriction all the way from Owosso to Clare, and the locomotive faced many stalls, mechanical problems, and more. The train arrived Clare an hour and 45 minutes late, and left Clare an hour and 15 minutes late.
Nevertheless, this was a fun excursion to film. I met up with many fellow railfans and friends at multiple locations, including Cullen's Railroad Videos, JacksonAndLansing Railroad, and Railfan Kyle. It was a fun chase, and my first chase of the 1225 with her "Flying Numberboards" attached. Special thanks to the Steam Railroading Institute for running this excursion and for being nice to the railfans. And thanks to Great Lakes Central Railroad for letting the SRI use their tracks.
    Locations Filmed:
    (Northbound)
1: Ex-Ball St. RR Crossing, Owosso, Mich.
2: Carland Grain Elevator, Carland, Mich.
3: Ashley Town Square, Ashley, Mich.
4: South Pine River Ave. RR Crossing, (Grain Facility), Ithaca, Mich.
5: M-46 RR Crossing, Alma, Mich.
6: Somewhere south of Shepherd, Mich.
7: W. Campus Drive RR Crossing, Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
8: Rosebush Grain Elevator (W. Main St. RR Crossing), Rosebush, Mich.
9: Main St. (Ex-Pere Marquette + Ann Arbor Railroad Diamond: Now both GLC), Clare, Mich.
    (Southbound)
1: Chippewa River Bridge, Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
2: South Pine River Ave. RR Crossing, (Grain Facility), Ithaca, Mich.
I cut the trip short because there was not much light left and because I needed to get home.

Just curious, but why don't they give her a new paint job? Like white tires, her rods, and fenders on her sides? To much money or not the equipment to do so?

SupahStar247 I think it's to keep a "freight engine" look, but honestly I'm not sure. Thanks for watching!

Michigan Rail Productions I mean... 1225 is a passenger locomotive now so let’s make it that way. Plus, when it first rolled out, it had the white around the wheels and the white pin stripe. When the PM and C&O merged, the 1225 had the whitewall wheels and the white pinstripe just the the C&O’s Kanawha’s
