    That was a wonderful weekend! That is when I fell in love with those wonderful Berkshires (1225 and 765)!!!

    A lot of people say this is N&W 611’s whistle but honestly I think it sounds more like UP 4014’s or UP 844’s whistle, but I can definitely tell the difference and I really think its not 611’s. Of course it may actually be just they have it tuned a little different but I still don’t think it is.

      611's actual whistle or a replica?

      I believe this might have been the actual whistle.

      It sounds more like a Royal Caribbean cruise liner than NS 611.

    Does this event happen ever 5 years in Michigan and it will happen again for 2019?

    • @trainmaster844
      @trainmaster844  5 лет назад

      No, it does not occur every five years. These events have become harder to finance and execute without making a decent return on investment.

    1225 is the one steam locomotive i really really really want to see one day since out of my top 5 favorite steam locomotives 1225 is the only 1 operational 2 of them are going through overhauls, 1 is awaiting another overhaul and the other one is retired and said to never run again due to a part that's too expensive to repair and its being a part of history where it resides.
    Also if your reading this Chris do you mind answering this question from me and its what's your top 5 favorite steam locomotives and i have a feeling 4449 and 765 and 2 of them since you mentioned 4449 is your favorite steam locomotive in part 4 of Jim's top 20 favorite steam locomotives andj if you'd like i can tell you my top 5 favorite steam locomotives too and you probably might now them all but I'll tell you if your interested also have yoy yet visited strasburg to see 611 ir have you have you not because of your job with the air force? Just wondering and what's your opinion on 475 with a smokebox centered headlight

    DANG!!!!!! So this and the 765 are the only two Berkshires left in existance?

    • @trainmaster844
      @trainmaster844  7 лет назад

      No. Both are the only OPERATING survivors at present, out of 20 such locomotives preserved.
      NKP 765's sisters are preserved throughout the Northeast - mainly in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
      #1225's sister - #1223 - is on display in Grand Haven, Michigan.
      C&O "Kanawha" #2716 is being restored to operation at the Kentucky Railway Museum -> www.kentuckysteam.org
