This has been easily one of my favorite videos you ever created. Phil and Freddy were the two golfers that inspired me as a 12 year old kid back in 1992. Anyway just a fantastic video and I really hope to see Phil back on the channel!
I am 51 and have watched Phil a lot, but now i feel like i have gotten to know him on a personal level. Very enjoyable. I can't wait to see what is next. The lessons he gives Grant and the rest of us are amazing!!
I have a funny Phil story….the first time we played, he said to me “its so refreshing to play with you. For my entire career i have been the worst driver of the golf ball on tour, and its nice to finally be able to pass that torch on to you. At least I hit it far and crooked”
@gregorybenoit8526why should Capital One ‘capitalize?’ …Maybe it’s a way to explode their channels more… maybe? But they also seem to be doing pretty well in their lane gaining access to whoever they want, so… I wonder!
Dod king is the most obnoxious fake personality little manlet on youtube. Theres a reason he has one of the slowest growth rates of any youtube golfer. He does not draw viewers over the age of 18, he is for angsty children and teens. @jtothac5364
49 years old, I never thought I would like golf. Picked up the game a month ago and I can't believe I am hooked to the point that I just watch Grant and Phil play 18. If you would of told me 6 weeks ago I would watch this. I would of said not a chance. But yet here I am. Good stuff!
I picked it up at 33 recently. Used to go to the range with my dad, but only played 36 holes total on an actual course. Now, it is all I can think about. It has consumed me.
I was a server at your Birdies For The Brave event in Ponte Vedra years ago. You and your wife thanked every worker personally, and in a real, not fake way! It meant more than any tip I could have gotten! I respect veterans more than just about anything or anyone. And I use to rescue and train and rehome dogs as a hobby in Jacksonville. I would have worked that event for free! YOUR ONE GREAT HUMAN BEING SIR! No matter what anyone says lol THANK YOU for doing that for that veterans!!!
I'm a 45 year old plus 1 marker who has watched a lot of youtube golf. These two videos have been the best I have ever seen. It's not the tacky everything is fun taking the mickey like a lot of content out there. This was funny but high quality and what makes it great is Phil's encyclopedia of knowledge and wisdom on all areas of the game. As someone who was a devoted Pelz follower I find Phil's contact amazing as I have read all of Pelz books so I understand what he saying but to watch the best example of it ever is fascinating. Forget playing tournaments, I think this sort of content and the way Phil explains all the intricacies of what he is doing will be his biggest impact on golf. Seriously in 5 years if this is regular content, I can see Phil being the biggest sporting influence on youtube in history. Funny, likeable, great banter and for the older people on youtube someone we can relate to culturally. For us that think like Phil and Bryson in terms of very analytical of the game this is the best thing I could imagine. Way more lessons can be learned from these videos with commentary than watching Phil play in a Major. More of this. It would be great if you could do a series of videos with Padraig Harrington as you both think so deeply about the game.
You've got to love how Phil keeps grant guessing about his suggestions after that first dead flyer comment. Its like a the line between sarcasm and brilliant advice. Love it!
That was an exceptional video that I just happened to come across on Grant's channel. Obviously, I came here to watch the back 9 and I have to admit, this was some of the most natural and entertaining content I've watched on RUclips in a long time. I was smiling ear to ear for both videos and I would absolutely love to see more content with the two of you. We'll done gentleman!
RUclips is exactly what the game of golf needed right now. It's a perfect canvas for letting fans watch their favorite pros, and getting to see some of their thought process and real personalities come out. Broadcast coverage of tour events and interviews are often a bit too sterile, so it's refreshing to watch this kind of content. Hope to see a lot more from Phil & his team. Great work so far, looking forward to future videos!
It was hilarious when Phil said "for the first time I feel like I might actually be wearing joggers" but when they they presented a pair for him to look at, I think that's when Grant was living rent free in Phil's head in the final two holes. One of the greatest 1v1 in RUclips history
I've been a Phil fan my whole life. My favorite line by him was "A good shot is when you pull it off, a smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it" Legend!! I want that flag!! :)
Everyone loves the minds games, but my favorite part of these videos (Grant / Bryson / Phil) is the "thought process" behind each shot.....just love it guys!
Phil is one of the greatest teachers in golf. I remember he helped me so much with my wedge game when I watched his philosophy on short game. Glad to be part of the channel.
Phil! Thanks so much for doing this video with Grant. Your Open win in 2013 was the last golf my dad saw before he passed away within the following days. I was there next to him and when I told him you won, it was the last smile I saw on his face. You will always be our favorite golfer. Thank you for the memories sir! And, thank you for joining the RUclips golf family.
I liked the part when Grant looked up at Phil and said, "I'm having fun again." "Yeah, because I only have fun when I'm playing good". "I struggle with that"... Phil's response.. "I'm getting tight now actually". Too funny.
Phil won’t see this but I tell this story often because it illustrates what kind of person he is. Probably 13-14 years ago the week of the Players, my girlfriend at the time and now wife was working at a breakfast place in Ponte Vedra and as she arrived for her shift since she was with me she knew golf and saw that The Phil Mickelson was there with an older gentleman waiting to be sat. She said he was one of the nicest people she ever waited on and when they left he left her a fantastic tip and thanked her by name before he left. First class move and forever cemented my opinion of the greatest left handed golfer of all time. If you are ever in southwest Florida let’s play 18!
what a treat being able to see this laid back but still competitive side of Phil, and just the ease he slips back and forth with staying mentally dialed into his own game but playful and casual enough to banter and mind-fence with Grant. The level of mutual respect between these two different generations of golf, making everything about the game more accessible and engaging, is awesome to see. My dad is a San Diego native and has always been a huge Phil fan, and I grew up being a fan by proxy and being able to watch the rivalry between him and Tiger during that stretch and share that with my dad is something Ill always look back on with deep fondness.
Seeing Phil and other professionals in this setting vs being on tv playing in a tournament gives me a better liking to them seeing them as normal dudes not somebody who is just crazy good at golf on my tv
-Pretty sure Phil could roll up to a local muni course, get paired with 3 other 30 handicappers and would be able to have meaningful conversations with all of them AND make them better golfers. Class act and a complete natural in front of the RUclips camera.
When Phil explained what shot he was about to hit and what he expected the ball to do, and then to watch it do exactly what he said was mind blowing. The fact that Grant got out of his head and pulled off this comeback was legendary! Excited to see more videos like this.
I met Phil at the 1997 US Open at Congressional . He was so gracious to the fans during the Wednesday practice rounds, he had his caddy toting around SOOOOO many golf balls and he was signing them like crazy, making sure every young fan got a ball. Perfect example of how to engage young players!
So awesome to see you getting into RUclips. To be able to get yours and Bryson’s golf knowledge in such an open forum is what makes these RUclips channels so great!
This match was great not only for Grant and Phil, but also great for the golfers watching trying to learn and soak up information from one of the greats
Met Phil at the Masters probably 20 years ago. He was far and away one of the most personable players and really went above and beyond to interact with the crowd. Been a fan ever since.
Phil was so kind to my son and I at Riviera 15 years ago, such a great guy! And Grant is the best RUclipsr in the golf realm, bar none. So awesome to have them together for this round, really made my day!
Easily the most fun I’ve had watching any RUclips golf. Phil’s tactics on hole 1 really set this tense stage for the entire two videos and Grant rose to the occasion. Brilliant.
Awesome to see a legend group up with the best golfer on RUclips, share his knowledge and show that he cares about the younger generation of golfers. Love the energy, Phil!!!
I love the fact that Phil is walking through his mindset for how he approaches each shot. Even giving is insight on each of Grant’s shots. Great work Fellas!!!!
What a finish to this match! Thanks again Phil, can’t wait for the rematch👀
Enjoyed this series! Today is my birthday, and I've been playing Golf just at a year now. Really enjoy all your content, @GrantHorvatGolfs
Hey grant did he buy you sushi after or?
This has been easily one of my favorite videos you ever created. Phil and Freddy were the two golfers that inspired me as a 12 year old kid back in 1992. Anyway just a fantastic video and I really hope to see Phil back on the channel!
Gront let's get that Grant & Phil vs Bryson & GM 2v2 going!
We will pay for monthly Phil content
Phil/Grant vs Bryson/Garrett is what the people want!
Please. That would be epic!
This! That would be awesome
1000 likes!
How does this comment not have more likes! Let's take this comment to the moon!
Yes
Nice seeing a Father and son spend quality time together.
😂
Yeah but they are still on the same wavelength . Beautiful. 🇦🇺🦘⛳️
❤ this, Phil's knowledge is 😮😊❤
I am 51 and have watched Phil a lot, but now i feel like i have gotten to know him on a personal level. Very enjoyable. I can't wait to see what is next. The lessons he gives Grant and the rest of us are amazing!!
Open flag....40.00
Signed Open flag....500.00
Phil wearing Primo joggers at The Open...Priceless
Only for two rounds... let's be honest 😂
@jadesmith6823 2 Rounds longer than you there bubb.
grant signing the flag made it worthless. ha can we just get a phil signed masters flag.
@floydrobinson3120grow up
What a legendary match!
Phil/Grant vs Bryan Bros. The Phil and Wesley banter would be pure youtube gold.
Seeing that matchup title show up on my feed would be the fastest I’ve ever clicked to watch a RUclips video.
1 mil views in one hour!
Good call
Shortgame video with Phil and Wesley😍
Please make this happen!!
Phil calling Grant a "Handsome Stallion" is absolutely hilarious 😂😂😂
Grant thinks he is a young Phil, with his looks and short game... And he is!
Only because Grant said his wife thinks he looks like Phil, so in true Phil fashion he is basically calling himself a handsome stallion 😂
just heard that line and scrolled down to this
Especially after he told Phil that his gf thinks he looks like him lol
need the flag
I have a funny Phil story….the first time we played, he said to me “its so refreshing to play with you. For my entire career i have been the worst driver of the golf ball on tour, and its nice to finally be able to pass that torch on to you. At least I hit it far and crooked”
😂😂😂😂😂
Classic Phil, start out a compliment then take a turn after you start to feel good that he's excited to play with you.
😂😂nice one!
😂😂😂😂
Beyond good
Phil with so many diabolical lines. My favorite, "Im fine to putt that. But you know, Sergio gives me those in the Ryder cup"
Baaahaaahaaa !!
Smh... Phil...
Instant Classic
Hear me out… Phil and Grant vs Bryson and Garrett … The RUclips Golf Match 😮. The banter would be unmatched!!
Throw in The Dod King with Scottie and I’m in
@jtothac5364 Love it! Then “who can break 50” from the front tees!!
Yessssssss. Capital One, The Match!
@gregorybenoit8526why should Capital One ‘capitalize?’
…Maybe it’s a way to explode their channels more… maybe? But they also seem to be doing pretty well in their lane gaining access to whoever they want, so… I wonder!
Dod king is the most obnoxious fake personality little manlet on youtube. Theres a reason he has one of the slowest growth rates of any youtube golfer. He does not draw viewers over the age of 18, he is for angsty children and teens. @jtothac5364
I love how these pros let you into their mind, how they decide and plan their shots.
You can tell how much Phil just loves the game of golf
I agree!
Phil describing what he's thinking during a shot is like the math teacher skipping steps in the equation cuz they already solved the problem
You Tube is perfect for Phil, because you can't find a human on the planet that enjoys talking about what they are going to do more than Phil.
other than Speith....
49 years old, I never thought I would like golf. Picked up the game a month ago and I can't believe I am hooked to the point that I just watch Grant and Phil play 18. If you would of told me 6 weeks ago I would watch this. I would of said not a chance. But yet here I am. Good stuff!
I feel like everyone is resistant to golf until they give it a try, then majority of people get hooked lol
It’s never to late mate🏌️♂️👍
Same feeling here
I picked it up at 33 recently. Used to go to the range with my dad, but only played 36 holes total on an actual course. Now, it is all I can think about. It has consumed me.
49 here and a year in… I feel the same way 😂
I was a server at your Birdies For The Brave event in Ponte Vedra years ago. You and your wife thanked every worker personally, and in a real, not fake way! Love that pros are now doing RUclips, breaks down the barriers and makes top level golf more available

Phil Mickelson tricking Grant into using the wrong club and then laughing about it, is the best part of this video. 😂😂😂 I WANT THAT FLAG!!
You've got to love how Phil keeps grant guessing about his suggestions after that first dead flyer comment. Its like a the line between sarcasm and brilliant advice. Love it!
Phil’s knowledge of the game with a mix of his sense of humor is content gold.
The people need more Phil content - man is a certified electric factory
The drone work on these 2 videos are insane
That was an exceptional video that I just happened to come across on Grant's channel. Oh how the turntables
I love seeing these legends being more casual. RUclips golf is getting better every month.
Started playing golf about a month ago at 35 and love it. Seeing videos like these are very enjoyable and encouraging.
I've been a Phil fan my whole life. My favorite line by him was "A good shot is when you pull it off, a smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it" Legend!! I want that flag!! :)
👍 btw it's my flag🤣
9:58 moment of silence for that burrito
RIP his shorts!
Phil’s channel is about to be in my regular rotation
Love seeing Phil outside of a tournament just having fun. Great video keep them coming
Phil is an absolute natural at this.
His teaching. Videos are some of the best. Really glad to see this
I wanna see Phil and Grant vs Wesley and George, the trash talking would be insane
9:58 Phil thinking to himself”did grant just sit on his sandwich” 😂😂😂
lmao. "thats a problem" I didnt even notice that
I saw that I can't believe Phil left that alone... That sandwich looked a lot like a burrito...
@Bluntobject 🤣🤣🤣 I thought the same especially since Phil loves talking trash
So much fun seeing these two play together!
Great to have Phil on RUclips. His personality is made for this platform.
I love that Phil's cart doesn't beep in reverse.
And 40mph
I’m convinced if I played just one round with Phil, I’d shoot like 10-12 strokes lower just with his knowledge. It’s incredible
If he wasn't trying to deceive you like he Grant on hole 1.
This series was amazing. Hoping you two match up again!
Everyone loves the minds games, but my favorite part of these videos (Grant / Bryson / Phil) is the "thought process" behind each shot.....just love it guys!
Grant hitting -3 on the back 9 after seeing him broken after just 1 hole is actually phenomenal 🙌🏻
Phil is one of the greatest teachers in golf. I remember he helped me so much with my wedge game when I watched his philosophy on short game. Glad to be part of the channel.
Come on...how great is it to see two guys who have never met, just have fun on a beautiful day together on the golf course!
Phil! Thanks so much for doing this video with Grant. Your Open win in 2013 was the last golf my dad saw before he passed away within the following days. This has to be one of the best days of Grant's life. Can't wait for the rematch when Phil actually plays without sandbagging him!
“Handsome stallion” needs to be Grant’s nickname going forward. Can’t wait to see Phil in joggers this week at The Open
Agreed
Phil talks to grant before every hole like he’s his dad
100%
Phil’s charisma just went up +9000
Definitely becoming a Phil fan watching content like this!
Fascinating to hear the mindset before every shot. Learned a lot. Thank you for the excellent video.
Phil, awesome of you to do this with Grant!! Really fun to watch and made me even a bigger fan!
Phil & Grant vs Wes & George at Salina? The SH*T talking will be EPIC!!
Where in SW Florida are you?
@RiccaRazor ft myers/naples
Nothing like a super star that acts like a super freind. We need more of that out of our super stars.
@thomasharty5757crazy Im born and raised in fort myers. Live in Babcock now
What a round of golf! Need a part 2 soon!!
what a treat being able to see this laid back but still competitive side of Phil, and just the ease he slips back and forth with staying mentally dialed into his own game but playful and casual enough to banter and mind-fence with Grant. Phil’s rule book is like playing with my buddies that be making stuff up
Hearing a legend like Phil Mickelson being genuinely impressed with how well Grant played that back 9…awesome stuff
I’ve been watching golf on RUclips for 10 years give or take. This match was right up there. Bravo guys!
Grant sat on his sandwich 😂
Just realized that
“The object of golf is not just to win. It is to play like a gentleman, and win.” Great video!
Thanks for doing this video. You seem like a great person to hang out with both on and off the course.
Phil is giving Grant a master class in course management. It's truly on another level. And Grant is soaking it in to good effect.
The change to the lab putter and Phil instantly draining the putt was hilarious
That needs to be an ad for LAB. Drained it with a pretty decent toe strike
Phils pre shot routine and thought process is so good, Phil and grant vs Bryson and Garret - please
Nice videos... keep them going so different now than 20 years ago, really enjoying getting back into game.
Phil fits perfectly in this RUclips golf space! Good vibes and comfortable on camera. Love the content and I’m excited to see what he does next
I love it, my favorite golfer of all time teaching while he plays. Legendary!
Seeing Phil and other professionals in this setting vs being on tv playing in a tournament gives me a better liking to them seeing them as normal dudes not somebody who is just crazy good at golf on my tv
Great to hear all the pre shot talk!!
-Pretty sure Phil could roll up to a local muni course, get paired with 3 other 30 handicappers and would be able to have meaningful conversations with all of them AND make them better golfers. Class act and a complete natural in front of the RUclips camera.
I'm afraid he makes them quit golfing
When Phil explained what shot he was about to hit and what he expected the ball to do, and then to watch it do exactly what he said was mind blowing. The fact that Grant got out of his head and pulled off this comeback was legendary! Excited to see more videos like this.
I’m an old guy 82 still play once or twice a week Grant was the first guy I signed up for on RUclips tv .welcome Phil to the channel .
Enjoyed every minute on both channels...thanks fellas...
“You will be wearing those in the Open and I’ll be watching every second of that” LOL - Touche Grant.
I met Phil at the 1997 US Open at Congressional . He was so gracious to the fans during the Wednesday practice rounds, he had his caddy toting around SOOOOO many golf balls and he was signing them like crazy, making sure every young fan got a ball. Perfect example of how to engage young players!
Phil looked genuinely offended when Grant said he was 1 over the “I didn’t say that…” was great.haha
Your fantastic to listen to and love the banter, would love to see a rematch
I'm so glad these golfers are opening up on youtube. It's so fun to watch and learn.
So awesome to see you getting into RUclips. To be able to get yours and Bryson’s golf knowledge in such an open forum is what makes these RUclips channels so great!
Phil is like a doctor out there with how he diagnoses everything. Just call him Dr. Phil!!!
props to the drone pilot! great video
The winner was us, the viewer! I really enjoyed both of the videos.
This match was great not only for Grant and Phil, but also great for the golfers watching trying to learn and soak up information from one of the greats
Met Phil at the Masters probably 20 years ago. He was far and away one of the most personable players and really went above and beyond to interact with the crowd. Been a fan ever since.
Really fun to watch both of you in this match
Grants trash talk is super low key and I love it
Phil was so kind to my son and I at Riviera 15 years ago, such a great guy! And Grant is the best RUclipsr in the golf realm, bar none. So awesome to have them together for this round, really made my day!
Man, so complimentary of each other, loved the content and loved how easy it was to watch! Thanks Phil and Grant
Found my way here from Grant horvat's channel. Great game!
Grant is such a genuinely supportive person. Ultimate golf partner
Easily the most fun I’ve had watching any RUclips golf. Phil’s tactics on hole 1 really set this tense stage for the entire two videos and Grant rose to the occasion. Brilliant.
As a Lefty myself, i grew up glued to Phil's game. Great match and keep flying high!
Genuinely one of the most entertaining videos I’ve watched in a long time.
So awesome that some of these professional golfers take their time off to play with these young RUclips golfers. Phill is a amazing person.
Love your guys interaction...shows both of your guys love for golf
Cool collaboration 🤘🏻😎 looking forward to more videos
You could tell the loss hurt, but Phil took it like a man and with good sportsmanship. Looking forward to more content!
