I always look forward to your FPV videos, they're one durable camera. I lost count how many times I've flipped and rolled my rc oval car and it's stood up to the rigors of rc racing. Thanks for the tip! I honestly would love to see LiveRC have an in car cam during a race.
Hey Ryan, It's Mike Kelly. Thanks for making the Video I requested. This is exactly how I do it on my buggies and truggies except I machined an L-Bracket that bolts onto the rear shock tower. Then I mount the camera on the helmet mount just as you do. I mount it to the body exactly like you on my SCT's. The body washers and gorilla tape is an extra element of stability that I will have to try. Thanks for the tips! If you want to see an example of the L-Bracket footage, there are some Videos on my channel. Thanks again.
Great info, simple and efective. I might had 3 things...i screwed the gopro clip into the body, tape alone is not enough for bashing. Put velcro on the side of the body instead of tape and put the gopro on a underwater case...if want more sound just drill where the mics are! That's it! Thanks!
Glad you have found success with it in the bashing world. That would take more abuse than what I’m doing on the RC track side of things. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏼
What type of double sided red tape? I own Bezgar and Hosim 1/12 scale and want to do some FPV as well. I want to be sure I buy the strongest one you are currently using. Great video and I'm so happy you shared it! Really appreciated :)
In general it’s just about the view and I have not been to concerned about the performance of the car. As mentioned I did on my previous chassis have the camera on the front windshield which lowered it a little. But can’t say I felt a difference. It’s still lots of extra weight up front and pretty high.
Great video. Gorilla tape is awesome!! So is the gorilla double-sided tape. I stopped using the gopros on rc cars due to them breaking or not recording. Switched to the insta 360 go2. Less weight and zero recording issues.
I wondered how you kept it from folding forward on landings. I had even tried an aluminum frame on my hero 5 session with aluminum base, cranked down with pliers and it still folded forward on me. It really does put a hurt on the bodies too. Then again, your not launching 20 feet up and lawn darting out of a skate park like I was... lol! I only use mine for PIP in addition to my chest cam for my bashing videos. I ended up going with a runcam2. It's way lighter than the gopro's, but doesn't have the stability control, so very jittery when it's full screen. I found decent ways to mount it though using 3D printed FPV mounts on the roof of a few of my trucks that can handle full on bashing. I've even landed on the roof a few times from 10+ feet up and the poor camera just keeps working. lol!
It’s truly amazing how durable they are! If you saw the one Inset video I posted early on in this video where I launched off that jump and landed on the back wing. Both the wing mount and the camera snapped off the car. Hard to see but it took a lickin and keeps on tickin!
Hi Ryan could you please make a videos how to professionally setup RC cars depending on track conditions and achieving the good grip and corner turning
The difficulty is the huge variation in track conditions and driving styles and tires and the condition of the tires being run. JQ has a really good book called Invisible speed that has lots of tuning suggestion.
As mentioned. Plenty have time to put in much more thought and effort into making proper mounts and such. My situation and the time allotted to capture the footage I get at events is minimal. Hopefully at least you can enjoy the onboard footage and just enjoy your own way of doing things. 😉 ✌️
With 3d printers could have post made to support the shell, my rc has some vacant bolt holes but could add ones to body. Would solve some issues and probably create other ones. Shells need to flex to degree to not snap.
Love your vids buddy! Also hands down THE best ambassador of the sport!
Thank you kindly. Appreciate the kind words!

Thanks for the comment. Hopefully soon FPV zero latency can meet GoPro stability in FPV cam size and we can have such coverage!
@@RyanLutz that would be amazing, I see it happening in the near future. It surely would be an amazing dynamic
Nice setup thanks for the how to vid!
Thank you and thanks for the comment! 👍🏼
Thanks for the tip I'm definitely trying it on my buggy 👍😁
Enjoy. Thanks for the comment! 👍🏼
Great video! Thank you for this. I got the tip to melt the adhesive on the mount and then stick the mount on. It works extremely well!
We love the track view FPV stuff Ryan ..... I guess ' Really Janky ' sometimes is the best solution! 😆
( I thought one of the body manufactures would have fallen over themselves to design / make a dedicated camera mount body! )
Haha yes sometimes it is! 😂
LOVE FROM BRISBANE AUSTRALIA!❤️💯
Makes it top heavy
Excellent tutorial... I think I have seen some of your track videos as well... very cool!

Thanks for sharing Mike! Hope you can capture even better footage! Thanks for the tips as well.

Awesome will have to try it out your way this year
Hope you enjoy
Great video, thanks for all you do and bring to the hobby
I appreciate that! 😁
That's Awesome Ryan. Thank you for the Great videos. Do you have a complete build up for the MP10 Nitro? I'm getting ready to purchase one soon.
Not yet, just a couple of the steps in my build series.

Get this man a gopro sponsorship!
Thanks for sharing. I wonder why you don't mount the GoPro in front of the front window, so that it is a lot lower for better balance.

Awesome. How is the stability of the picture in comparison?
Great advice

There is a mount for 3d print its fit every 1/10 and sit on the body posts no glue or tape or screws needed.
Fpv racing would be crazy
Maybe try max lens mod too I guess that would be pretty nice
Found it thanks for sharing brother
No problem 👍
Welp, time to do it
GoPro 8 is an amazing camera for its size.
The 9 I had was awful, trash. The GoPro 11 has been reliable for me but still a bit big.
Hi, any advice how do you clean off the tape residue once you’re done?
Goo Gone
❤❤❤❤❤
Have you ever considered a DJI Action 2? They’re almost as good as a DJI and do 4K60 but only weighs 50g.
I was considering an Insta 360 and trying that out. Will see what the new year brings. Thanks for the comment and ideas.
i wondered how you did that.
Nothing fancy. Just lots of Gorilla tape! 👍🏼😂
curious if you can watch the video feed in real time?
with the app you can, but like half second or delay
You can’t. FPV latency has not yet met GoPro stability. Hopefully sooner than later.
So I did something similar with my phone and the top plastic of the car was ripped off
I have the gro pro hero 10 and it came with the helmet thing but it has 2 mm glue on it will it rip off the paint of my body?
Paint should be on the inside of your body right?
We got the same last name
Double sided velcro.
James 3:10 From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. Also Jesus is king God is king.
Lmao, this is terrible
