Even Quesada, awful as he was with OMD, kept MJ fairly in character. Stupid as it was they sold their marriage because of love. Wells couldn't even manage that much, sparse as it is. He took a cleaver to her character, no two ways about it. There's more about Zeb's run that pisses me off of course...but I've always been a huge MJ fan and I consider Pete's time with her in the 80s and 90s to be the best era of his 60+ year run. She was his Lois....even better, truth be told.

House of M, Stark's mustache twirling full heel turn in Civil War; even Distinguished Competitor nonsense like Act of God, Identity Crisis, War Games and Heroes In Crisis; they all just make me think "y'all really suck" with a chuckle these days. But Spidey has always been my favorite hero, Pete and MJ my favorite comic couple and OMD destroyed them, absolutely murked them. It is the worst comic event I have ever read--even with this current run sizzling in the sun like Louisiana roadkill. This is the one comic hill I will still die on, don't you worry about that.

And just have the reveal obviously be that Mephisto had always been nudging Peter's life to make those shady deals in the first place and have Peter utterly lose it. Bring in Dr. Strange as well cuz he's definitely gonna need the backup, and end it with not Strange, but Peter just wailing on Mephisto for a solid 4 pages, to give the reader the satisfaction obviously, and send the dude to the far future cuz time shenanigans, which reveals that the future hasn't changed, because Mayday Parker will still be there to stop him. We NEED Peter's and MJ's marriage to work and we NEED Mayday to save this franchise.

Personally, i think the art being cartoony is better. This is a story about a guy who shoots webs and climbs walls. So i think a cartoon or even anime look fits it best.
I've been going to a local store to pick up new issues of Ultimate SM when it releases. 1 day after issue 1 came out they were sold out of it, 1 day after issue 2 came out it's gone except thankfully a single damaged copy, but the damage was so minor you have to look at the back corner to notice it's folded a bit. The same day issue 3 came out I actually barely managed to go, later in the day though and I got the last one, almost missed it cause it was a variant cover, but I just wanted to have the new issue. Every single time I've gone I see the spot for ASM on the shelf and it is as thick as like 3 regular hard cover books, just tons of unsold issues. I'm so glad they had USM not just because I want to keep reading but because seeing that would make me feel bad walking out without buying something and I definitely won't touch those.
Oh yeah man, this comic is so difficult to find like out in the wild!! if I was you, I would try to get it on a subscription thing so you don’t miss out because that’s what I have to do I pre ordered issue one like 5 months in advance 😭
Another great retro review. Maybe you should rename your Spidey Channel to Spider-Man Observations and Criticisms, LOL! As bad as a milestone issue this is, it's better than most of the garbage Zeb Wells writes. I recommend Spidey Fans go back to a classic/iconic storyline concerning the 1st appearance of the Sinister Six in "TASM Annual # 1" from October 1964 written by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and compare and contrast how the Sinister Six is introduced and how the storyline progresses as they fight Spidey. Classic indeed! I agree the kiss between Spidey and Felicia was special to me as I thought Zeb Wells would finally bring them back together. It was nice in issue # 11 of this run when Spidey finally asked Felicia on a date. Of course, this didn't last long, and Felicia is nowhere to be found in the recent issues since their breakup. Neither has been the Michelle the Lawyer character. It's like Zeb Wells completely forgot he introduced her character into the "ASM" storyline. Pathetic. 'USM # 3" is out and looking forward to MNStash's review regarding that issue. Regarding the next Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy, I don't think Felicia Hardy/The Black Cat is going to be in "Spider-Man 4". The rumor has it that Zendaya is going to be in that movie, so the Michelle Jones-Watson character is returning. I'm an "old school" Spider-Man fan and she's not MJ to me. However, younger audiences like her, and she is popular. I hope this movie isn't another multiverse movie. I wanted a more back-to-street level/grounded storyline this time with the introduction of The Black Cat. I guess not. Marvel will never let Peter grow up, unless in "USM". Peter can never be successful as a scientist, never marry again, and have kids in the Earth-616 universe. It seems to me, that the new "USM" is an attempt to see if that version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man IS what the fans want. If so, we the fans will have to accept that version in another universe, but it will never happen in the Earth-616 universe. Truly a shame. It's not clear yet if TSSM will overlap with Earth-616. I don't think so as Peter is older in that storyline. So Marvel might have 2 Spider-Man comics set in alternate universes. I've mixed feelings about that. It's good to see different storylines, but I'd like to have the "USM" storyline in the Earth-616 universe. Many lost opportunities have been in the "ASM" comics these past 20+ years. It's a tragedy. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to your next review. Cheers.

I wasnt a fan of MJ in toms movies. its like she now blocks the opportunity of the real MJ actually showing up in his movies which is just so depressing. they could and should go for maybe the more spectacular spider-man show route where he gets the black suit and starts seeing Felicia but make them more steady so it lasts! I don't know if this is another universe since it's pairing Spider-Man with Doc Ock, but in "ASM" he's part of the Sinister Six. I don't know what Marvel is doing with these 4 comics: "USM", "ASM", "TSSM"< and "SSM". In the old days, at least "TASM", "Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-Man" (PPTSS), and "Web of Spider-Man" were all part of the same continuity. Not anymore. Marvel has truly ruined Spidrer-Man as a character and it's a shame there's no going back in the Earth-616 universe., A tragedy indeed.

I hatred issue 900 it was really bad and such a terrible story that drove me mad, to the point it broke me and to make it ten times worse Peter Parker and Mary Jane aren’t even a couple in this story or don’t get to be together in milestone issue which is just freaking garbage in my opinion.
I don't like Zeb Wells's Spider-man comics. It feels like the previous writers all had something interesting going on with Peter, even if some of them were a little annoying (Kindred for example in the previous run, or some of Dan Slott's stories were annoying too). But in Zeb Wells's comics, literally nothing interesting happens. And the worst part of it is that it sells well, so it's unlikely that he will be fired from the job. Sucks. Also you mentioned that Black Cat is always good in her comics. I agree with that in the most part. Except when Dan Slott wrote her. After a while, She got really bad during his run. But yeah, as I said, otherwise, I agree with you. :D

I guess the only reason people buy the Amazing Spider-man comics, is because they are interested if it's really as bad as they say. zeb wells's peter unironically reminds me of kairi from kingdom hearts both are supposed to be main characters of their respective series(peter is literally the main character and kairi is sora's love interest and part of the most iconic trio of kingdom hearts) both are extremely under equipped/underpowered in comparison with other characters of the comic/game both are frequently sidelined in favor of other characters for little to no reason even when they are supposed to be the main characters(like in this celebratory issue and in melody of memory(kairi's own game)) they are pretty much sidelined to the point of irrelevance(kairi isn't even playable in her game and is substitued by sora in its climax and well peter needing to literally free the sinister six to beat the adaptoid instead of figuring out a way to do this on his own only to get his ass kicked by the sinister six a few pages later)

So since you heard that the amazing spider man series is continuing till issues 51,52, and to 53 there's gonna be a new green goblin like if Norman is gonna be back as the Green Goblin then someone had to take his place as Spider-Man archenemy somehow but the identity of the new Green Goblin is unknown like it could be none other than the Gwen Stacy variant from Web of Spider-Man comic or get this it could be J jonah Jameson (Spider-Man's former boss, an occasional enemy and harsh critic) like remember that Norman sins storyline that is being sidelined as of lately this week well my guts tell me that it might passed on to someone who used to hate Spider-Man but has recently let it all go and moved on like JJJ so I wouldn't be surprised if Zeb Wells does that to make the character worse than before if him being once a mayor of New York was bad enough wait till wells makes him into a worst villain somehow by undoing what Chip Zdarsky and Nick Spencer did to developed his character and give a bad progression by turning him into someone Spider-Man truly hates his own worst enemy the goblin itself imagined if it is him?

It happened to me when Peter Parker already had Industry Parker and then the supposed fans complained and now Peter is poor again and they put all the responsibility on the writer, they don't let his supposed hero advance because they have to feel identified with Spider-Man's misery if they Spiderman is not doing well either, that logic is stupid
During Parker industries he acted nothing like the character. there’s a difference between the supposed status quo and how the character would genuinely act

But Spidey has always been my favorite hero, Pete and MJ my favorite comic couple and OMD destroyed them, absolutely murked them. It is the worst comic event I have ever read--even with this current run sizzling in the sun like Louisiana roadkill.

The Flash Agent Venom run is one of my favorite runs! I can't believe Zeb did him dirty like this.

And just have the reveal obviously be that Mephisto had always been nudging Peter's life to make those shady deals in the first place and have Peter utterly lose it. Bring in Dr. Strange as well cuz he's definitely gonna need the backup, and end it with not Strange, but Peter just wailing on Mephisto for a solid 4 pages, to give the reader the satisfaction obviously, and send the dude to the far future cuz time shenanigans, which reveals that the future hasn't changed, because Mayday Parker will still be there to stop him.
We NEED Peter's and MJ's marriage to work and we NEED Mayday to save this franchise.
I think at this point marvel keeps one more day canon out of pure stubbornness

Personally, i think the art being cartoony is better. This is a story about a guy who shoots webs and climbs walls. So i think a cartoon or even anime look fits it best.

Romita Senior, the OG, was the best Spider-Man artist of all time.
I've been going to a local store to pick up new issues of Ultimate SM when it releases. 1 day after issue 1 came out they were sold out of it, 1 day after issue 2 came out it's gone except thankfully a single damaged copy, but the damage was so minor you have to look at the back corner to notice it's folded a bit. The same day issue 3 came out I actually barely managed to go, later in the day though and I got the last one, almost missed it cause it was a variant cover, but I just wanted to have the new issue. Every single time I've gone I see the spot for ASM on the shelf and it is as thick as like 3 regular hard cover books, just tons of unsold issues. I'm so glad they had USM not just because I want to keep reading but because seeing that would make me feel bad walking out without buying something and I definitely won't touch those.
Oh yeah man, this comic is so difficult to find like out in the wild!! if I was you, I would try to get it on a subscription thing so you don’t miss out because that’s what I have to do I pre ordered issue one like 5 months in advance 😭
Another great retro review. Maybe you should rename your Spidey Channel to Spider-Man Observations and Criticisms, LOL! As bad as a milestone issue this is, it's better than most of the garbage Zeb Wells writes. I recommend Spidey Fans go back to a classic/iconic storyline concerning the 1st appearance of the Sinister Six in "TASM Annual # 1" from October 1964 written by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and compare and contrast how the Sinister Six is introduced and how the storyline progresses as they fight Spidey. Classic indeed! I agree the kiss between Spidey and Felicia was special to me as I thought Zeb Wells would finally bring them back together. It was nice in issue # 11 of this run when Spidey finally asked Felicia on a date. Of course, this didn't last long, and Felicia is nowhere to be found in the recent issues since their breakup. Neither has been the Michelle the Lawyer character. It's like Zeb Wells completely forgot he introduced her character into the "ASM" storyline. Pathetic.
'USM # 3" is out and looking forward to MNStash's review regarding that issue. Regarding the next Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy, I don't think Felicia Hardy/The Black Cat is going to be in "Spider-Man 4". The rumor has it that Zendaya is going to be in that movie, so the Michelle Jones-Watson character is returning. I'm an "old school" Spider-Man fan and she's not MJ to me. However, younger audiences like her, and she is popular. I hope this movie isn't another multiverse movie. I wanted a more back-to-street level/grounded storyline this time with the introduction of The Black Cat. I guess not.
Marvel will never let Peter grow up, unless in "USM". Peter can never be successful as a scientist, never marry again, and have kids in the Earth-616 universe. It seems to me, that the new "USM" is an attempt to see if that version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man IS what the fans want. If so, we the fans will have to accept that version in another universe, but it will never happen in the Earth-616 universe. Truly a shame. It's not clear yet if TSSM will overlap with Earth-616. I don't think so as Peter is older in that storyline. So Marvel might have 2 Spider-Man comics set in alternate universes. I've mixed feelings about that. It's good to see different storylines, but I'd like to have the "USM" storyline in the Earth-616 universe. Many lost opportunities have been in the "ASM" comics these past 20+ years. It's a tragedy. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to your next review. Cheers.

with the toms next trilogy it would be such a missed opportunity if they dont introduce Felicia as a love interest. especially with where hes currently at with life theres so many good stories you could tell! I wasnt a fan of MJ in toms movies. its like she now blocks the opportunity of the real MJ actually showing up in his movies which is just so depressing. they could and should go for maybe the more spectacular spider-man show route where he gets the black suit and starts seeing Felicia but make them more steady so it lasts!

I don't know if this is another universe since it's pairing Spider-Man with Doc Ock, but in "ASM" he's part of the Sinister Six. I don't know what Marvel is doing with these 4 comics: "USM", "ASM", "TSSM"< and "SSM". In the old days, at least "TASM", "Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-Man" (PPTSS), and "Web of Spider-Man" were all part of the same continuity. Not anymore. Marvel has truly ruined Spidrer-Man as a character and it's a shame there's no going back in the Earth-616 universe., A tragedy indeed.

I hatred issue 900 it was really bad and such a terrible story that drove me mad, to the point it broke me and to make it ten times worse Peter Parker and Mary Jane aren’t even a couple in this story or don’t get to be together in milestone issue which is just freaking garbage in my opinion.
Only Wells is able to butcher a huge landmark issue like this. The man has a gift for horrible writing

I don't like Zeb Wells's Spider-man comics. It feels like the previous writers all had something interesting going on with Peter, even if some of them were a little annoying (Kindred for example in the previous run, or some of Dan Slott's stories were annoying too). But in Zeb Wells's comics, literally nothing interesting happens. And the worst part of it is that it sells well, so it's unlikely that he will be fired from the job. Sucks.
Also you mentioned that Black Cat is always good in her comics. I agree with that in the most part. Except when Dan Slott wrote her. After a while, She got really bad during his run. But yeah, as I said, otherwise, I agree with you. :D

Yes, I was surprised too when I found out how well they sell, because I only hear bad things about it. 😂The only reason I know that people actually buy it, is that there are some sites where people can check the best selling comics of the month, and The Amazing Spider-man is always on the Top 10. I guess the only reason people buy the Amazing Spider-man comics, is because they are interested if it's really as bad as they say.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who isn’t a fan of the artist… I proudly admit I’m a mark Bagley Stan and I damn near want him to do the art for the new ultimate Spider-Man and every amazing Spider-Man run but I do love other artists but the artist they chose for the zeb wells story is not doing it for me in the slightest… it feels like a Sunday newspaper comic strip version of Spider-Man
I was shocked to see so many people like his work. the way he draws humans makes it look like im reading a superhero squad spinoff comic!
zeb wells's peter unironically reminds me of kairi from kingdom hearts
both are supposed to be main characters of their respective series(peter is literally the main character and kairi is sora's love interest and part of the most iconic trio of kingdom hearts)
both are extremely under equipped/underpowered in comparison with other characters of the comic/game
both are frequently sidelined in favor of other characters for little to no reason
even when they are supposed to be the main characters(like in this celebratory issue and in melody of memory(kairi's own game)) they are pretty much sidelined to the point of irrelevance(kairi isn't even playable in her game and is substitued by sora in its climax and well peter needing to literally free the sinister six to beat the adaptoid instead of figuring out a way to do this on his own only to get his ass kicked by the sinister six a few pages later)
Not really sure what’s the purpose of this horrible story format where they just make the main character so utterly useless! Makes it feel like these companies are hiring writers who just hate the character

So since you heard that the amazing spider man series is continuing till issues 51,52, and to 53 there's gonna be a new green goblin like if Norman is gonna be back as the Green Goblin then someone had to take his place as Spider-Man archenemy somehow but the identity of the new Green Goblin is unknown like it could be none other than the Gwen Stacy variant from Web of Spider-Man comic or get this it could be J jonah Jameson (Spider-Man's former boss, an occasional enemy and harsh critic) like remember that Norman sins storyline that is being sidelined as of lately this week well my guts tell me that it might passed on to someone who used to hate Spider-Man but has recently let it all go and moved on like JJJ so I wouldn't be surprised if Zeb Wells does that to make the character worse than before if him being once a mayor of New York was bad enough wait till wells makes him into a worst villain somehow by undoing what Chip Zdarsky and Nick Spencer did to developed his character and give a bad progression by turning him into someone Spider-Man truly hates his own worst enemy the goblin itself imagined if it is him?

Zeb Wells run has been horrid. They treat Spidey like a total a-hole to start, everybody hates him. Then take MJ, and put her out of character (she knows the score she ain't hooking up with Paul). They constantly undermine Peter, and treat him like a b character.
I will never understand the supposed Spider-Man fans who claim to love the character and complain about his stagnation, but when a writer gives him new powers, a more stable life, they want to return him to the cube status because according to them, it is not part of his essence, what a nuisance. It happened to me when Peter Parker already had Industry Parker and then the supposed fans complained and now Peter is poor again and they put all the responsibility on the writer, they don't let his supposed hero advance because they have to feel identified with Spider-Man's misery if they Spiderman is not doing well either, that logic is stupid
During Parker industries he acted nothing like the character. there’s a difference between the supposed status quo and how the character would genuinely act

I like issue 700 and the superior spider man run, in my opinion everything after that was bad and things had fell off.
Zeb Wells is desperately trying to separate MJ from Peter and by achieving this he literally does not appear in the story, as if his existence had been erased, I take away the most attractive and important part of the character, that part that made us all get attached to the character. In conclusion, Zeb Wells achieved his goal, now his self insert is going to be in a relationship with MJ without any problem, he achieved his wet dream of being with MJ, Zeb Wells won.
