- TV as it was years ago...Openings of the popular programs, most from Monday night prime time, with full commercials, including cigarette commercials that were banned in 1971. Shows ran on ABC, CBS, and NBC.
I cancelled my cable about 7 years ago, and have been using an old set of rabbit ears ever since. I receive the signals for several FREE over-the-air networks, and still see a lot of these vintage programs.
You old fart you. Lol
@@stopbullshitting4484 lmfao😈
I cancelled my husband and kept the dog🐕😈

What a wonderful compilation. Thank you!
What fun it was reliving the old TV themes and some of those commercials! Though I never smoked cigarettes, those themes were sure catchy. I remember growing up as a kid in the golden age of TV. Once in a while, I find myself singing one of those old themes!
Yeah, I remember stealing my dad' s 🚬 smokes and 🍺 beer too.Good Times.
LOVED this video! I was just an itty bitty kid when these ads and shows were new, but, I still remember a lot of them. I don't know how, though. It was a lot of fun going way back into the past. Thanks!!! =)
Sugar Pops...SHOT WITH SUGAR!! Ahhh, a nice heaping bowl of sugar first thing in the morning, followed with a cigarette. Those were the days, my friend...
Dude, don't forget the 🍺 BEER !
I seriously have the Pabst Blue Ribbon jingle in my head. Well, It'll be P.B.R. today 🍺!
Actually I'm old enough to have been born into the world where many of those shows came from - and, unfortunately, I also live in the world of today. For anyone under 55, the differences are unfathomable.
I do remember most of these shows/commercials. Television was great back then, yes in black n white! The horror pictures used the shadows and shades and made the TV Show/Movie very scary without even showing the deed! Many old time radio shows would use sound effects and the actors tone of voice, that would scare you into next Tuesday, they created an environment ,then let your mind take you away to cringe in fear, or to laugh! Turn the lights off!
back in the 70s i onlt earned $1.60 an hour after working at the same place for 4 years. Only made a..dime more than the new ones hired in at.
It's still like that today.
great memories ..😍😍😘😘😘😘😘
Classic TV. Little or NO lip syncing. REFRESHING!
back in the day 60s i seen this when i was kid
After playing with a slinky for 30 seconds you did not know what to do with it and lost interest. you could never get it to slink down the stairs in your house either. The steps in the commercial were special set to be extremely short.
Mine got warped and wouldn't slink after about the first 5 minutes ,what a useless and boring toy
Slinky was one of those accidents. Its inventor had something else in mind but it didn’t work, but someone thought it might be a cool thing to play with. True story. It was never intended to be a toy.
I wrapped mine around the clothesline and shot rocks at the Neighbors next door lmafo😃
So it became a big ole slingshot ,very creative
@@michaelmerck7576 Thanks😃
Me gusta muchisimo el bandito de crujientes de maiz!
Kools were one of many cigarette brands my mother smoked.
My father used to smoke Kents and died of cancer at age 61. My mother smoked while pregnant with my sister (1955), and it caused birth defects that killed my sister at age 19. Mom didn't know better at the time and is still filled with guilt at age 94. Smoking ads were naive in the early days and evil/deceptive once science discovered what tobacco does to humans. BTW, Chuck Connors, The Rifleman shown here, died of lung cancer from smoking.
The original metal Slinkys made your hands smell funny. They also got tangled up and bent immediately. Not really "the best of a toy".
I N SAN FRAN, AT THE TIME THE CAR JINGLE ;;SEE THE WORLD TODAY IN YOUR CHEVROLET (CORNER OF BUSH AND VAN NESS.)
we have a deal for you ,what a deal for you.,..Ellis Brooks chevrolet
Been smoking since the commercial originally aired , it's terrible
look at the price of cigarettes now and then it was $.25 a pack.i know i onlt made a $1.60 an hour when i worked back then.
+Joan Morris Consider what people earned then. It's all relative.
Who the heck is Mickey Dolanz?
Harry Morgan on Pete and Gladys later played Colonel Sherman T. Potter on M*A*S*H.
He was Joe Friday's partner on Dragnet, also.
And many other shows too.
Yes it was TERRIBLE we had to watch TV without getting educated about every HORRIBLE side effect on the face of the earth.
there still doing it now . what killing you now , there so much going on now than ever before dork
Watching these old TV clips, it's surprising how many of the actors have passed away.
senorkaboom It's because a LOT of them smoked quite heavily... I recently read about how Chuck Conners ("The Rifleman") used to smoke almost non-stop all day, same with Johnny Carson.
Very true. I read where Edward R. Murrow was never seen without a cigarette, and he died of lung cancer at 56 or 57. A different time.
The same era that gave us the ultimate double entendre from Mrs. Cleaver: "Ward, don't you think you were a little hard on the Beaver last night...?"
😅
Ah, the Frito bandito, I remember that! And I miss the shampoo's we had back then, smelled much better & didn't mess your hair up like this junk today. And I see cakes don't rise as high anymore, as the one in this vid. Born in '58, I miss those days....
I'm sittin here baked outta my friggin gourd and watch your vid. I'm a little kid again! Thank you for posting!
Puff,puff, pass.
😳😂🤡😜
Most of these ads and shows are from my earliest memories and earlier, but I will say this, at that time the themes and jingles were as much a part of the experience as the programs themselves. TV was still rather young and quite a novelty. These gems are as much a part of our history as any other moments of the era. What a great time to be alive, even with its faults, it was a gentler time.
my dad smoked for fifty year never go cancer but he did have a cough I never smoked I got a cough worse than he did , disease removed out of usa now are back
Back in the day when people had a brain and could actually think and make life choices for themselves..
I get so annoyed when I go to buy my tobacco and it's like freaking Fort Knox for the staff to geylt it for me..
Then I walk around the supetmarket and there are bottles of bleach, caustic soda, whisky etc and pain killers and other drugs all within the reach of a 2 year old child..
Yeeeeeeah what a great idea..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😉😂😂😂
Norman Bates GoodPoint.
Wow these clips sure took me back to when I was a kid....
A load of beer and cigarette commercials though....Amazed at that....
Carling Black Label....don't see that much anymore...but ....PBR...still around....
black label... still in nj a few years ago.
Is this Dinah Shore?
See, smoking is good for you; It gives you a fresh mouth and clear throat. Doctors know nothing these days.
Adam Carter actually they did, just they were paid to lie.
Most doctors smoked then
man I never new cigarettes were so good for you, I found out the other day that getting hit in the head with an ax was refreshing
I wish commercials today had cool catchy jingles like the ones in this video :)
+DarkNaomi I still sing and say the commercials for Rolaids.
- back when it was fun to live in America.
The Dinah Shore Chevy commercial goes back an additional 10-11 years to about 1951.
This was wonderful thanks so much for posting i loved it
Kent were probably my favorite cig way back when! I switched brand in my 39 years of smoking, but stayed with kent longer, than any other. Probably 20 or more years!!!! And I'm still breathing?????
Jack war Micronite filters had asbestos in them. Really. When I started smoking, KOOL was the cigarette I chose. They made a snap, crackle, pop sound. I wonder how many insects the FDA allows in tobacco? KOOL had their share, that's for sure!
Sometimes at the race track horses that are 40/1 get up and win. You sir are one of those. Many others die under 60yo from smoking.
I just found this Excellent Channel. I'm almost 65 ( AUGUST 12TH) I'd like to say that this Channel brings back but some Sweet Memories . Thank You so very much. I subscribed!
You will need Dr, Ben Casey. When you smoke Cigarettes.
Ah yes! When TV was worth watching! None of this reality stuff, violent police shows, and sex-saturated sitcoms.
Nan Fagan, I heard that girl!!!
Winston tastes bad
like the one I just had.
That filter, that flavor

LOL that literally made me laugh out loud, that's pretty damn funny!

@@ontarioguy4707 Sorry to hear that everyone's body is different my grandfather smoked until he was 97 also drank a half pint of whiskey everyday like i said everyone is different
This was back when the intros to TV shows were longer than the TV commercials.
Thriller was a great series that ran on NBC from 1960-62. They sure don't make shows like that anymore.
Ah, those classic beer commercials. Hamm's & Pabst Blue Ribbon are still available. Carling's Black Label Beer is only available in Great Britain & Canada.
Not entirely TRUE. Remember seeing it on shelves in Brooklyn, mate.
Even the commercials were good and no reality shows!!!!
Kent cigs. micronite filter. deadly.
Thank you for sharing this! What a blast from the past
I knew every word of the Frito Bandito song!! Brains are truly the strangest things.
Sadly, I can remember it as well.
The original metal Slinky made your hands smell bad when you handled it. It would very quickly get tangled and permanently kinked and bent, and then it wouldn't move anymore.
I always thought Kool referred to how hip the smoke would make you! lol
it was the innocent yrs no violence no nudity every body got along as it showed on television. bring back shows with stories this is why I watch tcm all stories
joseph siano *No violence? What do you call westerns? Every little boy had a gun pretending to shoot his friends and violence against my people were being shown in large numbers on TV*
The good old days when smoking was healthy.😁

And a 🍺 beer too !
this shit is so cool, i remember all of this stuff, i am 62, thanks for all the good memories, makes me hate the shit on tv now. i will watch the internet and get rid of tv.
I got rid of the TV in 2008. Haven't missed it since! RUclips is thousand times more interesting, plus, I can always watch the occasional TV program on the net anyway.
I especially love all the docs about anything one can think of that can be found on RUclips. And every now and then, watching these old TV commercials is just too much fun, haha!
Don't get rid of the tv. I'm watching them on my tv right now through playstation 3. You can also log onto youtube through a streaming box like a Roku and log on to RUclips from there.
Richard Woods T.V is just a brainwashing tool and they have you right in the comfort of your own home.. This is why most people can no longer think for themselves.. If it's on T.V it must be true.. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I gave up television 10 years ago and I listen to the old radio productions now on audio c.d and find old stuff on RUclips.. ☺☺

Lovely vintage television show openings and their accompanying commercials which are now banned from television viewing.
Michael Friedman people are born with or without a cancer gene i have known people who never smoked die of lung cancer

i seen this back then in the 60s i was a kid
This was worth looking uo, just to see Dinah Shore sing, "See the USA in Your Chevrolet"! We would sing that on the playground. It shows that a good Madison Avenue jingle, will stay with you a lifetime!
Kissmy Asta "Go, go, go Goodyear!" Six syllables, twelve notes. It will remain in our minds forever. "You can trust you car..." I bet you know the rest of the jingle.
As I understand it now Dinah Shore is a big lesbian gathering, was she a gay woman?
@@neilpower60 Burt Reynolds was hittin' that...
kool ciggerettes killed my father! I wish he never smoked!
+john72ss Viceroy killed mine. But they were all socially programmed to smoke back then.
PitchToTheRhino1 yes, I know but when I came home from school with all kinds of papers articles and proof that ciggerettes were deadyly, they both wouldn't listen, mom smoked winstons! and both died because of smoking!
+john72ss
Are you sure the three decades of nuclear weapons testing, dozens of such tests spreading radioactive fallout throughout the country, had nothing to do with it? Smoking has indeed served well as a smokescreen for the government's culpability in that.
Nonsense. That risk was infinitesimal compared to cigarette smoking.
Correct. They also added licorice flavoring to Kent cigarettes.
Thank you for the feedback. You are correct, the dates were way off. I have since corrected that! Must have had to much coffee that night.
The Frito Bandito lol love it...
Oh, I've heard about this era. This was long ago before non Caucasians were invented. Interesting.
Dean Strickson who invented those darn non-Caucasians anyway.
Loved the slinky commercial as a kid back then!
I could never get my slinky to walk down stairs that way!
@@andrewwanner6829 Yeah, two- maybe three steps and that was it. :/

TV is nothing but ads, just like you tube today.
that's for DAMN sure!
It wasn't as bad back then as TV is now.
yep but now days tv has more adds per half hour with Brian washing in them and they over use non-whites .

All of the shows on here came out in 1962. The commercials (from their various years) were probably tossed in for the hell of it. I can't believe how many of these shows (much less the commercials) I recognized. Man, I am getting old.
Uhhh....Sorry but almost all, Cheyenne, Father Knows Best, and others, premiered in the 1950’s.
I drove my chevy to the levey!
I miss the " Fito Bandito". I used to run to the TV if I heard it.
This was a much better time! God, how I wish our country was like this now! (I even like the black & white). The Eisenhower/Kennedy years: how wonderful they were!
+retrorex Bullshit. You remember what you want to.

Haven't smoked in years and I wouldn't go back to it.
I still know the jiggles. And actors and TV shows. What a era. I'm glad I grew up in this age.
I read somewhere that "Bud" on Father Knows Best regularly smoked bud.
scott goodman - more than likely since he was friendly with the band NRBQ.
Back then there was no bud, it’s was all leaves, stems and seeds.
@@charles-y2z6c Not true- the Columbian, Acapulco Gold and Panama Red consisted of buds, but not as buddy as these modern strains.
A relative smoked Kool's and in her 50's her breathing was that of a 105 yr old woman. She died at 63 yrs old.
Kools were brutal; I only smoked them when I was hard up; I stuck with Salems and Newports. I had a friend that got hooked onto smoking UNFILTERED KOOLS. No, you don't even want to know...
Beer Commercials where pretty good made me want to crack a cold one. I remember those ads
My sister would have loved to see this. She was 7 years older than I was and she was daft about US cowboy programmes like Cheyenne and Bronco. I had to laugh though at the adverts, especially "Cool Cigarettes" - "as cool and as clean as a breath of fresh air!" Don't know what air they were breathing in - New York smog?
hmm! my favorite cigarette !the flavour so smooth !it's gotta be good for ya !
The intro to The Rifleman...............so homoerotic. Very appropriate.
back then it was more pure tobacco they put stuff in them later to keep it burning so you smoke more cigarettes or it would burn up quicker
onlythewise1 an that's the truth.
So here we are 60 years later and the host of TPIR (Drew Carey) looks like Bill Cullen.
I remember these tv shows from my childhood. The cigarette commercials and corny car commercials.
Thanks, that was fun!
Thanks for the videos. I remember every commercial and TV show intro. As a kid I didn't have a care in the world.
Ben Casey has a minute-and-a-half opening. It's a drama in itself.
Always with a smile and never any violence. Such a good vibe they put off back then.
The violence probably went on behind the scenes. Alot of lights being punched out. Then, they went to the Bar, and had a 🚬 cigarette and a 🍺 beer.
See - Smoking is good for your health and makes your breath cool and fresh !!
Epic - Notice the ads still mislead you ti this day. Nothing has changed.
Mr Clean and Frito Corn Chips - damn should have purchased Stock. 14:20 best part. Those corn chips are still being sold to this day in 2014. Ai Yi Yi Yi
that long intro is a waste of by time.. like the add
