i love how he plays it so different than the album - the head is the same, but the rest is just guthrie being free with it. I want one of those guitars!
Apart from the main theme and one or two runs Guthrie improvises the rest of the song each time he plays it. Its like a new version with something fantastic thrown in each time.
He definitely deserves to be mentioned, great phrasing and timing! I will keep an eye on him, I'm a Django fan so that kind of jazz appeals to me If you are into metal at all, check out Jakub Zytecki, very different style, but he is also a top guitarist for his age imo.

@satrianiandweed - Satch has said, lack of material is the only thing that's stopping it happening. If he brought out another couple of albums, he could join the G3 tour.
@Nerefurian Theres a camp in NY this summer founded by Gilbert. He chose Guthrie to be one of the instructors along side him. To bad you have to pay a small fortune to attend
I feel so happy for him. I mean, sure that he deserves much more, but things are really getting better for him. Awesome playing as always and wishes of happiness and success to Guthrie!

I bet there would some evolution to G3 if he were to join those fellas. i would also love to hear him on satch's "the souls of distortion" and it would be good for paul to play with a guy like guthrie
I totally agree, I wouldn't be surprised if any guitarist is scared of guthrie. IMO, about 8 years of searching on the internet and I have never seen any guitarist who has impressed me in an all round musical way as guthrie. He is simply scary. But bear in mind most other guitarists are probably able to cycle and swim. Guthrie can't. That shows level of sacrifice of life he has given us for guitar music. He is literally the jesus of guitar.

But i know you have, so you should know ;) BTW, huge fan here, such a shame monkeyfest didn't work out this year, but i'm sure you had your reasons for canceling, i'll just have to come some other year :) Looking forward to seeing how the ML-3's gonna turn out. @o0StrayKittY0o Well I have all of my guitars strung with 11's except for my Telecaster which is strung with 12's because I like a huge tone and I like the guitar to fight back a bit. It would be highly unusual to have heavier gauge strings on the top and lower gauge on the bottom; I've not heard of anyone doing it before. I suppose you should just try it and see if it works for you. To be honest, if I were you, I'd be inclined to just stick 10's on there first of all and see how you like it.

This comment was among other videos, but I assume this is the one, since this has the worse tone.( I mean the amp, the guitar playing is amazing). So how can they do that to Guthire Govan.? And I guess it's worth using all money on one fine amp, then trying to get a real tone out of a lots of pedals or a multi fx....FOR Concerts.
@satrianiandweed I'd like him to join a G3 but only for the sake of his success. I think think his music is much broader and a bit different from most G3 artists, to be frank. I'm a fan of Vai and Satch though. They're all inspirations.
