- Jessie J and Tom Jones perform their most beloved song "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" at Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA in 2015. Legendary songwriters Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil earned the 2015 Trustee Award.
The Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry selected "You've Got That Lovin' Feelin'" by The Righteous Brothers as one of 25 of the most musically and historically important sound recordings for special recognition and preservation in the nation’s repository of cultural history. By including the Righteous Brothers’ 1965 hit, the Library of Congress adds yet another distinction to a song that since its initial release has been played more than any other on radio and TV, according to the performance rights organization Broadcast Music Inc. “That record has a life of its own,” Righteous Brothers singer Bill Medley, who famously traded lines with his duo partner, the late Bobby Hatfield, in a song written by Brill Building husband-wife team of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.
“I think it was one of the first real dramatic love songs for young kids,” said Medley, 74, who was 24 when the record hit the charts in 1965. “In those days, it was pretty much cute music. ‘Lovin’ Feelin’’ is not a cute record, it’s a pretty powerful record.”
“That song is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the writers are in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and now it’s going into the Library of Congress. I think it’s a big deal," Medley said. "It just kind of keeps going on and on. It’s just always an honor.”
"You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", co-written with Phil Spector, was the Righteous Brothers' biggest hit and was the most radio played song of the 20th century, with more than 14 million plays. Hall & Oates also recorded a very successful 1980s version.

They sang together lots of times, they were both coaches on the voice and he already said that she is super talented, so if tom jones, the legend, said that, I don't know why all these people still think they can say she's bad. Go there and do it better, she's one of the few singers today that can sing with him and do it well.

Let have a musical education lesson here folks. This song in its originality had two distinctive parts. Sir Tom Jones is a power singer but doesn't use falsetto. This is a falsetto song. It's unfair to compare them. He has IMHO the best and strongest voice for any male white singer over 50. She sang the higher part and is more than half his age. It's like comparing a 75 year old runner to one who's 30. This song wouldn't have sounded any better by anyone else except the Righteous Brothers and they're gone.

They blend so well... there's a chemistry between these two that showed up on the Voice UK, and seems to continue. Not many singers can keep up with Sir Tom. Jessie surely can.

The coolest guy I ever met was Tom Jones.
He was in Tacoma playing the Puyallup Fair (late 80's ?)... and I was in the bar at the Sheraton at 1am... and it had just turned my mom's birthday.
He walks in with 2 huge bodyguards. So I call my mom to tell her Tom just walked in... and I said, "Hold on". Being that I had already sampled a few beverages, I boldly walked right up to him and said, "So nice to finally meet you. My mom is on the phone and it's her birthday. Can you say 'Hello' " ?
Holy crap, he actually walked down the hallway to the bank of payphones and talked to her ! Got a quick autograph for her on a drink coaster, and then left him alone.
I've met some "famous" people... but that was the best ever.
+TacomaPaul I love it when they do that. Jessie J is the same. She was performing a gig at this club, and arrived before her scheduled time and this 16 year old was having her Birthday. When the girls mum saw Jessie she went to her and told her it was her daughters birthday. Jessie came to the party and sang Price tag and Who you are and let the girl sing with her.

Tom Jones and Bill Medley both sound similar. Still prefer the Righteous Brothers though. The woman's voice overpowers Tom's to much too.

Amazing how this song just has power... a driving pulse, sneakily funky and a flowing yearning all in one. And concerning the Jessie J critics: I'm not a fan of hers and don't really care about this topic... but kudos to her to having the courage to trust her instinct and let loose, even though her nerves were all over the place. And apart from at 1:51 she wins with that open, honest approach... character of a true artist; trusting yourself and just going with what comes naturally.
Fantastic rendition! lets not compare it with other versions or the original, but enjoy the essence of this performance in all its glory. As a song, I'm sure many of us would put it in our top one hundred of some list. Thanks for posting and making at least my world glow a little brighten.

Don't hold your breath waiting for the emotions the Righteous Brothers emitted in 1965. These two have fabulous voices, but it was more like a Las Vegas show feel rather than something heartfelt.
