It must be hard for you guys to know how badly the Japanese occupation affected the Philippines. It's different now but this will always be part of history. The important is the good relationship between these nations right now.

This is the importance of history. Which should not be forgotten. Though things are in good, but people of PH still must be aware, and other countries too, who participated in PH colonization. I know Japan will always feel sorry about it, but still whenever hearing stories about this made me cry and sad for those people who experienced it. This generation should be most thankful for the efforts of our ancestors for their freedom 😢💔
And audacity of new generation to questioned those entitled national heroes. Some efforts looks nothing but gives the highest contribution to our independence
@@unis_aaliyah Yes, we are lucky but always be alert especially against China. We know that China is very wary about triggering a conflict but who knows? No matter what, whether or not China wants a war, better be ready to not suffer the same fate as those of our countrymen during WW2.
For Filipinos, yes. For the Japanese, and like you said, the other countries that colonized the Philippines, although they should also be proud of some of their ancestors, they need to be more aware of the bad people among their ancestors and the cruelties that happened in their colonies as a lesson to avoid repeating the same mistakes in the future. Unfortunately, WWII is a topic that doesn't seem to be properly taught in Japan except about the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings and certain other things...
Already watched up to Episode 2 on Netflix today and have high expectations after the success of Maria Clara and Ibara. Good cinematography and great actors as well. As Japanese coach, you really did well Ryo-san. Congratulations!!!

what I felt right now watching this video is a totally cried because of you guys how being so open to what happened during world war 2. Inspite of you guys being Japanese, you are ready to learn, embrace and understand the culture of the Filipinos especially the comfort woman. Here, woman is precious to us as they are the light of every family. We love you guys!

Share ko lang hehe napanood ko yung trailer ng Pulang Araw tapos naalala ko interesado din ako panoorin dati yung Maria Clara at Ibarra so pinanood ko sya this month and natapos ko agad. Sobrang galing ng mga artista tapos naging favorite character ko si Fidel na ginampanan ni David Licauco. Ang galing nila kasi may Spanish din sa script nila tapos ngayon Japanese naman ang inaaral nila bigkasin ni Denise Trillo to act 👏🏻

I also watch Japanese animated movies about World War II. These movies have one common denominator---Innocents are the real victims of war. Mothers losing children. Siblings separated by war. Orphans..etc. Japan was not excempted because she was affected also on that war.
But they didn't include the war crimes that they did in their animated films.

Filipinos are forgiving and the Japanese government have been helping Philippines trying to make up for its mistakes. We all move forward & try make our present & future much better than the past. Its good to know history so we can learn from it avoiding committing the same mistakes. Its hard for Japanese to tagalog because of the R to L .. and there’s a certain distinct accent.

Sa totoo lang mas maganda pa nga 'yung mga ganitong klase ang pinapalabas kasi karamihan ng mga kabataan ngayon tamad na magbasa ng mga libro at mas gusto 'yung pinapanuod na lang. Sorry sa mga matatamaan pero as a 1990s kid di ko trip 'yung mga palabas na 50% laman ng story ay about sa kabit, bullying at puro na lang away na wala kang naman masyadong mapupulot na aral huhu. At least kahit mas maseseslan ang tema ng history may mapupulot kang aral kasi may mga bagay na naibibigay sila na hindi natatalakay sa mga libro.

If my memory serves me right, Dennis Trillo before is nag-portray siya as a gay lover of a Japanese Soldier (played by Jay Manalo) in the MMFF 2000 World War II movie, Aishite Imasu (Mahal Kita): 1945, i should recommended to search and watch the said full movie, which can give you more curiousity and i hope you guys can help this. it is important learn about our history, how each of our respective ancestors acted in ways that may have led to good or bad outcomes. So we learn. But it is also important to realize that the people of Japan acknowledged their role leading towards WW II, and made effort to make up for their mistakes, and contributes to create a better world. Thank you, SkyGarden for being open to learning further of what transpired during WW 2, with the hopes that those will never happen again.

I’m watching this series, and it’s not your typical drama about mistresses and scandals. It’s a historical drama, and the actors did an incredible job bringing their characters to life. I’ve always been curious about who handled the translation, and I just found out from this video-it was you, Ryo! Amazing job, and your acting skills are top-notch too!
Thats amazing!...These japanese boys admired david and dennis portrayal of roles how they speak or pronounce japanese is it niponggo?.....Bumilib sila dahil 2days lang inobserve o inaral ni David ang lines and yet it's perfect daw!... Mahirap daw gawin yun!...Lalo tuloy akong bumilib kay David Licauco....For me he's the most improved actor since Maria Clara and impressed!...Good job David!

Don't hate Japan/ Japanese but everytime I looked back and see what they have done to Filipinos...it really makes me sad because it hugely affected the Philippines and it's culture. We lost most of our historical and wonderful places, our traditional mountain tribes were invaded by them and they disappeared. So sad😢

not all Japanese during WW2 were bad, there were also good ones.. there were those who became heroes during ww2 here in the Philippines and even had a statue erected in another place here in the Philippines...

Lumikas mula sa bayan ng Maasin nang dumating ang mga Hapon sa silangang bahagi ng Leyte ang aking lolo. Naglayag, kasama mga ibang tao patungo sa isang remote na isla na bahagi ng probinsya ng Bohol at nagtago sa mga laylayan at kweba doon. Samantala sa Tsina naman, tutungo sana pa-Formosa (dating pangalang kilanlan ng Taiwan) ang aking gwakong para maiwasan ang panganib dulot ng gulong nangyari sa Nanjing sa mainland ng Tsina kaso sinakop din naman ang isla. Nananatili lamang sa Fujian province ang aking gwakong dun habang nag collab yung Nationalist at Communist forces laban sa mga Hapon upang alisin sila. Their stories of horror during World War 2 will remind me of the tragedies of war. Kaya Russia & Ukraine, Israel & Palestine + Middle East, at China & Taiwan, kalma kayo diyan!

Hi Sky Garden, my Maternal Grandfather was killed by Japenese Imperial Army during the War of Baguio. He died defending our country in April 9, 1945, leaving my mom whose only 9 years old a that time orphaned, with the rest of her siblings...the youngest was only 2 years old. My grandmother died during the war as a result of complication after giving birth, where she wasnt able to have a decent check up and proper medications due to the war. I am hurting listening to my late mom when she was telling me the hardship they felt during the war. They were in the middle higher income before the war but after the war, my mom and siblings were being adopted by different families because they became an orphaned due to this war. A part of me resent some Japanese people...but I realized that the present generation didnt do it...but your forefathers did. I just hope you know how our grandparents and parents suffer from your forefathers. Lets embrace peace and show love and respect to each other.
This is what I was waiting for. There are always two sides of the story in war. The Japanese and German were the first one to suffer this. I watched a Japanese drama where it tackled the sufferings of the normal citizens of Japan during the war. Also, the Japanese here in the Philippines, how they were mistreated even though they were already living here, like David's character. There are no winners in war, it is a battle of egotistical and narcissist leaders.
That didn't give them the right to rape our women though, wag na mangatwiran ng 2 sides of the story.
