The Stories We Tell Ourselves

- Tell me what you think of this. We all have certain stories about ourselves that we repeat, like mantras. "I am the type of person who is X, therefore..." But, for all the reps, I'm not sure these are doing us any good at all.

Jeffery is the main source of inspiration for all the videos I created on RUclips. From the times he was working at Envato to launching Laracosts. Always great to watch his videos and thinking he so honest on how these videos are created.
Good talk. Reminds me of the James Clear book Atomic habits and Fogg's Tiny Habits. Both great reads and solid information. side note, if there was ever a Lara--guitar-casts with these 5-8 minute exercises I'd be all in..
I thank god that I found such a great mentor 15 years ago. Thank you Jeffrey 🙏🙏
I really like the freestyle feeling of the video :)
It's very relatable too. Trying hard not to give myself excuses with AI being so discouraging to learn what I want to learn, which is coding and digital art, thanks for sharing your side Jeff, I think it's very important in current day and age - showing vulnerability.
I enjoyed this regular talk it's kinda refreshing. I'm gonna comment on two points briefly because I'm sort of dedicated to self development here's mine :
1- the first point which is related to the "the story that we tell the ourselves" there's is saying "you become what you think about most of the time" this is the law of attraction, another law which is the law of belief which means "what you believe with the conviction becomes your reality" So this belief about let's say the back pain in this case you have accepted it as it is without questioning that and and it's became a part of your reality.
The second point which is the related to the learning new things and this is related to the self discipline the first reaction our body does is to resist and postponed we go to something called 'someday I'll' somebody I'll learn this skill someday I'll start physical exercise, Someday I'll create my own channel Someday I'll reading this book etc.. and we justify using excuses. The solution is to do it whether to feel like it or not.
Hello, Jeffrey, I liked the video, it is inspiring, thank you for sharing your experience. I have similar thoughts, I am at my late twenties now, and some of my friends who are my age, talk more about health problems and relate them to aging which made me think that it can be harmful way of thinking to just use aging as cause for many problems we're having, it can be related to that, but sometimes it can be just an excuse to not solve the problem and just call it aging, forgetting that we had a lot similar problems when we were younger.
Doing short, consistent learning sessions resonated with me. I'm always looking for a better way to balance my consumption vs creation - I might try blocking 15 minutes a day in my calendar again
Still nice to see Jeffrey doing php after all these years
I have known Jeffrey since he been teaching CodeIgniter. You still look the same as a decade ago. 😊
ill watch and listen to all your podcasts. they are great. looking forward to more
I enjoy a lot your laracast podcast, so is great to see a youtube version. Really looking forward to it!
Really good advice! Since you announced the Laravel 11 course sometime in January or early February, I've been spending about 1-1.5 hours each Tuesday and Thursday going through the PHP for Beginners course. Now I'm almost done with it and I'm going to do the same with the new course. This makes me look forward to Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and even my girlfriend knows that's my "time with Jeffrey". Now I should only try to fit an episode or two over the weekend and it will be :chefs kiss:
You are amazing Jeffrey! You're inspiring me a lot.
Thank you for this video Jeffrey
I luv you Jeffrey, you've inspired me to improve my skillset, keep up the good work ❤
There's a balance to everything. Sometimes working in smaller intervals helps, other times I need to really think or grit my teeth. In the end, I have to remind myself that it's about "pro-gress" not "pro-fection".
Yeap, thanks u Jeff! Compound effect really works!
The Prophet mohamad (ﷺ) was asked, "What deeds are loved most by Allah?" He said, "The most regular constant deeds even though they may be few." He added, 'Don't take upon yourselves, except the deeds which are within your ability
wat
Man, I can relate so much to messing up by not hitting the record button or connecting the microphone.
And just turning on the camera and start talking is weird indeed.
you are right!
your the best php developer!!!!
According to Harari, stories enable large-scale human cooperation and social cohesion, which are not found in other species to the same extent.
Atomic habits vibes...
Hie sir sorry I am looking for a laravel course by Gio in this channel would you kindly provide a link please he directed me to this channel
Hi Jeffrey 👋🏻
Very nice Jeff! That is very true, how much more we could’ve accomplished if we just did things for a short period of time consistently. It’s great to be around 40, because we start to understand how life works
you reminded me about ruclips.net/video/2Ll4iSvosDo/видео.html
I remember in your podcats you were talking about getting fit in 2015, now you look so fit, great job !!
