Interesting why the train didn’t stop at Stevenage as it’s a major hub

Great Northern London to Cambridge semi fast services along with Thameslink services Cambridge to Brighton and Peterborough to Horsham stop at Stevenage however London Kings Cross to Ely or Kings Lynn don't they run non stop to Cambridge.
Although in this the train I was on stopped at Finsbury Park as a extra stop to cover for a earlier cancelled Thameslink service
