      I commented on another video to a similar idea. If you want to see 50k affordable boats, go to your marina or a local dealer and have a look. This is something we all can access. However we can not access all the expensive high end superyachts like Nick, so it's good to use time for those. Also from a YT perspective, he prolly gets much more views from superyachts than old second-hand bangers.

    This boat is perfect. With a lot of other "cheaper" boats you usually can't close off the interior with a proper door for colder conditions. You will usually have to compromise between a gt style boat with a closing door, but without the fly-bridge or a fly-bridge one you can only close with canapes. This one has got it all though!

    • @TexanUSMC8089
      @TexanUSMC8089 3 года назад

      Or for some of us, close off the interior so we can run the AC. LOL

      Same for me. I like clever details . A „Super Yacht“ has less constraints and, hence, to much of everything. Boring.

    Smaller boats are what's really pumping up the boating market.
    Even Nordhavn acknowledged this and, thus, the wonderful, new, N41.
    A live-in boat from 30 to 40 feet - like the ones from the very successful Beneteau trawler series... - will suit the vast majority of boating enthusiasts' needs.
    Wonderful review, as per.

      I bought my first boat, a 1987 searay 340 for $30,000. Usually stays in the water. The guy showed me how everything works. The marina charges for the space and electric and trailer storage if you have the trailer too. Monthly space was about $600 and insurance was about $150 a month. Mantainance is sewage disposal unless you use the marinas, heat and ac units, engines and generator like cars more or less and hull in water paint/seal coatings and cleanings every couple years or so. Fuel on a 30' to 40' boat might be about 5 miles per gallon. Maybe all in about $1,000 a month in arizona lake. Better than apartment or home cost.

    • @andrewryder9642

      Much depends on when the model was released and I am not sure about this one. When you compare to the Fairline Squadron 42 and there are a few 2012 models on the market which is only 5 years newer than this, they seem so much more contemporary in design, yet they are still 8 years old. Admittedly they are about 50% more expensive than this so a big price to pay for slightly more modern styling.

    Great review, I had a Phantom 40 prior to my Phantom 48 that is currently lying in Portland waiting for Lock Down in UK marinas to end
    A couple of points, firstly, the cruising range is around 200 miles at 23 to 27 knots, you would get 300 miles if you were chugging along at six to eight knots.
    The Volvo 370’s do not have enough low end torque for close quarter work, so you do have to rev beyond ‘in gear’, which can make the boat a little tetchy when berthing.
    A great 40 foot cruise, the two bathrooms are very well kitted out and I had lots of times when another couple stayed with us, and if it was just me and my partner, then it was complete luxury.
    These boats were built when Fairline were on top of their game,

Excellent accommodation and cavernous storage, space for a fair few bottles of tomato ketchup and tins of beans. All in all, alot of boat for a seemingly reasonable price.
    Loved the cameo from white bag, relaxing in the cockpit. 🤣😂🤣

Then, in the engine room, I saw the multiple "No Step" signs, I thought , "What did he just step on to get down there ?" You then flipped out the temporary metal step. Lastly, I could see the gas struts in the back of the engine room and sure enough, a moment later you said "See those gas struts back there ? etc...." you're like a mind reader Nick..Z

    There's something so cool about this late 90s style of interior... you can tell it was as high end back then as modern top end stuff is today. I love those revolving shower doors. What happened to those? Every yacht used to have them.
    PS: I've been perving over the Predator 108, Le Chiffre's yacht in Casino Royale. It too has that "charmingly dated" look now. Three Arneson surface drives and 45 knots! Would be amazing to have a tour of one of those one day. The late 90s Predator 80 too. That was basically the world's fanciest powerboat at the time.

    I personally quite enjoy these some what more affordable yachts. I would like to see a Azimut 50 flybrige, you can buy those yachts for around £300.000 . Or a Arno Leopard 23. I also quite like the Sunseeker Predator line.

    Phantom(thastic) nice boat Nick,and before I saw that little foldable step thing,so that you could get down to the engine,I started to think that you should be very good at Parkour Nick,since you always have to climb up and down in and out on every boat that you always present to us in such a nice way :) :) :) I wish you and your family a very good weekend Nick.

    CLEAN. Not the kind of quick, send a crew in with scrubbers and towels for a good pre sale once over. This clean is after THIRTEEN YEARS OF USE and it is still very tidy kind of clean. The owner(s) of this vessel loved it. It wasn't this sorted when first delivered. Whoever buys this boat is in for years more fun - a gift from the owners...

    This is one of the nicer flybridge-boats I've seen in this size-range. It does have the typical class-weakness that the view out for the passengers is somewhat restricted when underway and not using the flybridge, but it's difficult to keep the helm and saloon at the same level without totally compromising the secound (or even the master) cabin.

      That's the weirdest thing. I've watched literally every one of Nick's vids and as I watched this I thought - for the first time ever - 'wouldn't it be great having Nick teaching us to sail too!'. It must be something about the vibe he approached this one with!

    • @RobinB1710
      @RobinB1710 4 года назад

      Richard Ryan great minds and all that haha, yeah, Physical sailing I am fair comfortable with, but I just think it would be interesting to watch and hear things like stern to berthing etc and have an input of IPS vs shaft driven etc and the pros and cons (if any) for doing such manoeuvres. I feel it would add extra value to the boat reviews where a boat has such added options.

    This is the kind of boat I like, (similar to that princess F45). Its just big enough to do everything you want it to, and have "mini yacht feeling" boat, but it's small enough to manage and take care of yourself, and at $200K, its a realistic life goal on my salaries that I could own some day.

    That canvas and isinglass enclosure for the cockpit area, I would have it made where you can unzip the isinglass and roll it up out of the way, leaving a bug screen in place. The fresh air, breeze and keep them insects from invading your space.

    Nice review, Nick. Just wondering why so many power boats are docked bow in? Practically unheard of in New England (where we boat) and as this video shows, there’s barely room to get on the boat’s swim platform from the dock. Glad you can start boating again! We are splashing in next Friday. Cheers!
