      With the frozen filter and ice water the fan felt good to me, but that lasted like 2 minutes before it just felt like another fan and that was before all the ice had even melted down. So I would to say to people to pass on this one. Bummer because I liked the size quite a lot.

    I bought mine 3 yrs. ago. First think that was wrong about it was in the water dam area. The water level was never affected, I finally had to dump it out. That was the part that sucked. HOWEVER, as small as it is, the little fan is very powerful. I did take the filter, soak it in water and freezed it. I ran the fan just using the frozen filter and was amazed at how cool it was. Yes, sitting directly in front of it is best, but in a bathroom or small bedroom it would cool the room. Mine eventually stopped working but I kept the filter just in case I get another. Having one always in the freezer as your back up is the way to go My kitchen is small and faces north, but still warms in the summer. I used the Arctic Air to keep it cool and it worked.

    I’ve had mine for a year now! I don’t expect frost bite or anything, but I use it on my porch, ( I live in Florida) I have it on the table RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! Not more than 2 ft away! I freeze the filter, and keep bottled water just below freezing water to fill it with! The first 10 minutes ARE AMAZING, and refresh me great! After the filter thaws and the water warms up, it still gives you slight relief from the heat! It’s a miniature SWAMP COOLER. I think people are EXPECTING TOO MUCH from this little thing! I’m happy with mine! Had a few glitches at first, but you HAVE To be a little smarter than the machine and work through it! C’mon folks, it’s a $40 thing! It’s ok for what it is! I’m glad I have it! FOR SURE!

    I am a Northern California native (Please don't judge me for this. My entire family, both extended and immediate, have made several trips to Idaho in search of a couple of different properties that have several acres each that would be able large enough to build several homes on each while still leaving plenty of land so that we are not ontop of each other and we would all still have enough space for everyone to have a nice sized garden and/ yard. All in the effort to leave
    our ridiculous, God forsaken home state and be able to enjoy the rest of our lives amongst other like-minded people, and away from the insane ultra liberal majority that currently surround us) About 3 years ago, while I was doing my selective dumpster diving rounds, I found a brand new, never been opened artic air in the "Tuesday Mornings " dumpster. Growing up, my father owned an HVAC business, so our home always had 2 commercial sized air conditioners, and our home was also wonderfully cool to me, cold to others 😀. I started my found artic air, and I loved it! I had a small fan on next to/ slightly behind it, and this worked GREAT to Amp up the Arctic air power. My nephew's mother, who is also a good friend, lives in a non air conditioned van, and she kind of guilted me into letting her have my Arctic air. I regretted letting her have it to be honest. Well I bought the pure chill 2.0 last night on sale at the Walmart grocery store right by my house for $20 on clearance, and I LOVE IT!!!

    I would bet that this would work better with a fan pulling the cool air from it and spreading it around a small room like a bathroom and such. I mean for $40..00 or so I think it is worth a try to at least eliminate one a/c in the house. lol Great review!
    Also I would probably put some kind of catch tray underneath the unit to catch any water that would drip, so it doesn't actually get on any surface or item you don't want it to.

    So what's the purpose of the mist? To add humidity? Does it chill equally without it on? I know... costs, but if you can get a 32oz cup that insulates for hot and cold, why not just use that for the reservoir to keep ice and water cooler longer? Sure, you don't get the pretty little lights, but that can be addressed if need be. I want function over form, so it should be an HE device, with insulated metal tray and a workhorse of a motor/fan. If you're going to do it, do it right. Thanks for the review!

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  2 года назад +7

      In my opinion, with the mist off it was just a fan. When you're using cold water, the mist does provide humidity but it is cool (when water is ice cold). Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🙂

    I like this video, but it is of limited value. Most people (my best guess) are not going to be continuously dumping ice into this unit, nor are they going to be freezing the filter. They are going to be putting tap water, at tap water temperatures into this unit. The tests, in this video, did not include this real world scenario. Of course ice is going to cool you. The refrigirator/freezer, not shown in the video, did that part. You could stand in fromt of ice with a fan, and you'd get cool. This has little to do with the real performance with this unit. Make a video where you are actually just using tap water, at it's normal temperature, and then you'll have a video with much more useful information. (In a lot of situations, like in an office, people won't even have access to ice or a freezer.) I like your tests, but you made it partially irrelevant by dumping ice into this thing, and by freezing the filter. Additional note: Don't change the room temperature at the same time that you're doing a test on the unit. You can't get a relative measurement, when you do that. If you're raising the temperature of the room, The room temperature is climbing, while the Pure chill is lowering. That inhibits a true measeurment of the Pure Chill unit because it is fighiting a rising room temperature. If you wanted to show how the Pure Chill performs, don't have two variables changing at the same time. You screw up giving an objective performance of the Pure Chill by doing that. It's like putting a car on a tread mill, and then measuring the miles per hour that the car is going.

The ones we had in the field for outside had huge evaporator like mylar ? surfaces corrogated. Having concern for too much moisture, I thought of the smaller journals and conduction. Maybe get your cool on using less water with a better flux capacitor, no? H!

    So I recently purchased the Arctic air pure chill 2.0 and at first I was disappointed, because I added water to the ice, and it's soaked my sidebar end table, water all over my papers on the shelf below, but they were in plastic so they were protected, so I tried it again the next morning and this time I only added ice, and no water, and that did the trick.
    So I'm not sure about that filter thing, because I substituted it on the second try with one of those freezer packs, and I had one small enough to fit in that tray and so I wrapped it in a paper towel without the filter, and it seem to work just as well, maybe even a little better.
    So I had no problem with it after that, but I think the price may be a little steep as do you need to do some work with this thing, and I think that's the downside, but it's a personal fan, and it's not going to cool down a room, but it certainly make you feel a lot more comfortable and maybe you can save yourself some money by lowering the thermostat a degree or two when its running constantly in very hot weather, but you do have to do some work with it as compared to just a small fan, so other than that, I think it's an okay purchase.
    So thanks for the video, and until next time! Chill!🥶

      @@Jeffreviews4u Yeah, well here in Ohio, just about everyone I know who has purchased one has been very, very disappointed, but common sense would dictate that you don't add moisture/humidity to a geographical location that is already so filled with nasty humidity, it takes your breath away and feels as though you could wring the water right out of the air. Just sayin.' Then again, it's a bit of a stretch to assume that everyone has....common sense. However, the ads FAIL to mention the fact that these things are NOT EFFECTIVE in humid climates, and this has got to be a known fact to the sellers. Disregarding any mention of this very important fact is deceptive. I don't have a dog in this fight, but I'm going to tell you here and now that SOMEONE, most likely a dissatisfied customer, WILL likely bring some kind of legal action to force them to mention this information as a clear disclaimer.

      @jamescarrington5521 2 года назад +3

      @@pauline1511 Yeah....your experience is IMPOSSIBLE for the residents of very humid areas, and this is my problem with the sellers of this thing, they should SPECIFY IN THEIR ADS THAT IT BASICALLY WON'T WORK IN HUMID AREAS; I see this as VERY DECEPTIVE, to knowingly leave out pertinent information; it's akin to LYING. My neighbor and I tried to run his and yes, pretty much all of the water remained after close to a day, because, well....when the air is thick enough with moisture that you could almost scoop it out of the ambient air, with your hands, the water isn't going to evaporate much, now is it? Their advertising is deceptive.

I use the other two for work (do a lot of new construction) and just by themselves it wont do a thing however, I also have a plumber blower fan (the kind that sucks in the hot hair and blows it out) and I put one on each side of the fan so it sucks in the cool air. Turns that blower fan into like a window unit, so while it won't do anything to cool the whole house it creates a pretty awesome cooling station when you need to catch some air and drink some water!
