You are correct that the speaker was displaying extraordinary bias even for a party appointed speaker.
Previous speakers although biased to a degree did at least attempt to cloak their bias. This speaker was openly biased.

I am reminded of the British tv series yes minister when the minister is being coached on answering questions by his private secretary. When asked a question you don't want to answer say "That's a very good question but don't you think the real question we should be asking is....." insert question that you are happy to answer.

Why has no one braught to light the fact that they are recognised as citizens in the constitution?
Penny Wong was a Lawyer. This means that she should vehemently understand that the 1900 Australian Constitution is applicable to all Australians, and not just White Australia. And that the laws we have in Australia, also, are applicable to all. Amending the Australian Constitution is discrimination to all others who do not fall in to the wording of the amendments. Including Australians of different skin colour who have been here for many generations and since federation.

It is the function of elected representatives be the voice of all the people in their electorate to parliament. If they are not willing or able to be the voice of their constituents, they should resign immediately so a competent representative can be elected, not seek to outsource their job to unelected individuals or organisations, be they foreign or domestic.

100% correct Corinne. All private organisation consultants should not be used by parliamentary representatives. That is what the Public Service is for. If the public Service Department cannot provide expert advise to Parliament then they should be sacked. Public Servants used to swear an oath to serve the Government of the day irrespective which party was elected.
Current Public Service is run by leaders who are all members of the ALP. To remain a member of the ALP you cannot openly criticise it so they cannot perform their jobs in the Public Service without bias.
So we still do not know what matters before we vote.

Wong dodges the question because she knows that in reality, every matter affects indigenous people. Therefore, if this "Voice" is legislated, a small minority group will get an extra say in all matters, something the majority of Australians do not have. As to the matter of recognition, there is not a group in Australia who is recognized more that the indigenous people.

I'm not a fan of the idea that any group in Australia gets special treatment above any other group. Any group in society has the right to form their own organisation to share their voice / experience and it does not need to be funded explicitly by the tax payer.
Voting in a proposition with NO detail is akin to signing a blank cheque. Even if you were _cough_ stupid enough to be _cough_ for this change to our constitution, how could you possibly vote for it without knowing the DETAIL first!
