I'm glad you put the wild wild west song at the end of this video even if less than 5 seconds of it was played. It simply wouldn't have been complete without it!

I was a fear factor live winner two summers ago. They are still very detailed about safety. We were told safety instructions at least 3 times for each challenge. I also did the scorpion challenge (it was ok but you only get a picture) and my dad and I did the disgusting smoothie challenge (he won and it wasn’t worth it). The tee shirt from winning the physical challenge is extremely comfy and worth winning after the final challenge because you are soaked. (Ps I always wondered why there was stables backstage so I loved that fun fact)

Surely a kind of tri wizards tournament challenge thing would be a perfect replacement
Keeping the old stunt show alive while updating it to potter

Never saw Fear Factor Live but this show, the Sinbad stunt show over at Islands, and the Animal Show we're basically my childhood. When we had passes during the late 90s and early 2000s, it was hard to pick and choose which stunt show was the better one but I think we used to lean heavily on going to Sinbad since it was still running at the time.
Sad to see that Sinbad is going to go the same way this year too from what I've seen online.

I remember watching this as a kid. It was one of my top 5 fav attractions in Orlando. The bloody ending always got me as a child. I cant believe they got away with it in a family show

Interesting to learn about the high plank fall technique. Amazing that they held on to this old technique as a hommage to old Hollywood. Thank You for your great short documentaries.

Didn't realize the show ended two months after I saw it in 2003. I thought it was a very well done show. I actually had no idea that Fear Factor Live was still open. I thought it had closed forever ago. I think the Harry Potter themed areas are amazing, but I feel like what they have and currently building is enough. I love Harry Potter, but would like to see a new attraction not based on Harry Potter there if Fear Factor leaves.

We never did the stunt show, but back in June of 2002 my brother and dad went on Men In Black and got stuck for an hour. It started to rain so my mam, sister, and I sat in a covered area nearby. Whilst we were waiting we could hear the explosions and gunfire from the stunt show.

I always thought the Wild Wild Wild West show seemed cool. I wish I could have seen it in person.
Fear Factor is not worth volunteering for, and is Really outdated. I hope something else replaces it.
I would replace it with a Studio Tour Ride.

Universal needs to bring back the old school practical effects like Kingkong cable car, Jaws the boat ride, the Back to the Future ride, Star Trek Experience, Conan the Barbarian, Miami Vice Stunt Show, Knight Ryder Car talking KITT, Battle Star Galactica Laser Show, Terminator 4D, Incredible Shrinking Woman, A-Team Van that you could lift in the backstage experience, Birds 3D the Alfred Hitchcock Experience, Ghostbusters, Murder She Wrote, Animal Stunt Show, Nickelodeon Studios, there is so much that was good that is gone. So sad. You got to see actual people and physical stuff not all these 3D screen rides they have now suck. Earthquake subway ride was fun!!!

I did this show back in 2008 I believe and finished in 2nd place. The prize at that time was (2) 1-day tickets back to Universal. My girlfriend (now wife) did the scorpion and she was freaked out. One of my most memorable Universal days.

Ooh! One thing that could be a lot of fun is if they do end up having a new Harry Potter themed show in the venue, bring back Bill & Ted, and include a "George & Fred's Brilliant Adventure" joke with the British style phone booth (^.^)

I remember this show very well from a certain Dutch kids show! :)
I'd have loved to see the wild west themed show, looks spectacular! Fear factor looks so so with the re-purposed backdrops and such. Must be fun indeed to participate in it, but not so much to watch it.

Since NBC still owns Universal because of attractions like Race Through New York and Fear Factor Live, I would want to see a Office themed attraction in the former spot of T2:3D.

I hope you someday do something about the slavery live shows o phantasialand before it got reworked.
I remember I went there as child (age 11) and not long after (age 13)... both times, we watched the exact identical shows there.
Show 1: Chinese children age 4-10 (and there were a total of 25 kids, yes we counted) they would take turns. They looked identical. They did the most dangerous stunts you could imagine. Even though I was a kid myself it was HEART WRENCHING to watch a tiny child (the youngest who was age 4) do tripple flips back to back from a free fall and land on her feet. EVEN if they were secured, these kind of tricks they perfected so good, I was wondering if it was a special day.... few hours later another show: more kids. (this is where we counted again and the total sum came) they were a bit older. guessing their ages from 12-15) with men and few women (all separate uniforms) who also did amazing stunts that makes your heart stop because they were not really secured...... then .... we watched a live show....... participant would need to climb up (with no security) but just a hand from one of the stunters, and she had to jump off a building and land on mattress. I wanted to do it because, I saw the kids do crazy stuff, so why not! But they didn't select me (thankfully)
When I went at age 13.......I was in for a nasty shock. It was 100% identical. But that means they replaced the small children with new children and basically swapped the older children with the back then children depending on ages and size. (they were SO tiny and skinny and bendy) they did 100% same show and then I realized they been doing this even before we went there, every single day for many, many, many yearss. As for the live show on stunts...........it was boring, it was the same crap....... At age 16 I went again........... there were shows like the Children, but I guess they ran out of children. It was slightly grown children (assuming it was those kids) in different outfit, but even MORE dangerous stunts.... live show, 1 new was added, other was old. couple weeks later, a guest who was supposed to jump from the building actually fell to their death. That show no longer exists thankfully.

Great job as always. I really love these smaller attractions you choose to highlight. I really loved the Wild Wild Wild West Stunt show. It was very well acted and stunted and was actually pretty hilarious with Universal allowing the actors to adlib here and there. Even though it seems simple now by comparison that was part of the charm. The stunts were really impressive because they were so simple. Nowhere to hide, no CGI or 3D glasses to distract. Just pure fun action. I miss hearing the loud explosion from the Back to the Future line. I never saw Fear Factor Live. Never bothered. Is Fear Factor even still on TV? Universal used to be more “real” than Disney because they weren’t afraid to use real explosions and fires that would really feel on your face.

I mean, i'd love more Harry Potter as a Potterhead, but I can see why others wouldn't. You're supposed to be able to "ride the movies" not just one movie series. At this point they might as well make a stand alone Harry Potter park, a third gate would be an interesting idea

    • @acgom

I rememeber the show it was a lot of fun and everything it was also just a nice way to get out of the sun, I don't care for the Fear factor live at all and I have competed in it. To be honest and I will probably get vilified here but, how much more is too much Harry Potter. I mean yes it is just amazing what Universal has done, but I feel like it is more about Harry Potter Orlando rather than Universal Orlando. At the same time I would love to see what they would come up with for a Ministry Of Magic. So yes I am torn about this. Well thanks as always Sam your Videos always make me think.

I never got why they had to make a Fear Factor...yes, NBC and Universal have a partnership and while I can see why they did the NBC experience with The Today Show, Late Night With Conan O'Brien and the Tonight Show With Jay Leno (Leno's show and The Tonight Show as a whole are part of NBC-Universal, so yeah...it fits) and the Citywalk was used for the Jaywalking segments, although I wouldn't have put in the Jimmy Fallon ride (I would have kept the Tonight Show expansion of the NBC experience but would have updated it to commemorate when Leno retired as host in 2014, or at least combine the Jimmy Fallon ride with that) although it would have been pretty odd yet interesting to see a ride based on Community. I'm surprised NBC Universal did or have not ever considered making an attraction based on Grimm (if it didn't end at season 6, the show could have had its own scarezone). Fear Factor is one I cannot see working, it's like if you tried to do a Seinfeld ride (although technically a ride about nothing would be...exactly that) or one based on The Apprentice.

I enjoyed the Wild Wild Wild West show as a kid quite a lot. Always was sad to see it go.
Anyrate, the Fear Factor Stage, Woody's INSANELY dated kids zone, and Shrek (probably others) were all on the rumor list chopping block ... but then Universal broke ground for theme park number 3. So, the general guess is that Ministry of Magic will appear in park 3 (probably set in the fantastic beasts era) ... a Secret Life of Pets dark ride there (instead of replacing shrek) ... and Super Mario Land (instead of replacing the kids zone which oh my gosh how are they still neglecting this area so badly ... please do a mini-doc on the Barney in the Park attraction there, I can't believe it's still a thing).
Personally, I'd rather they fix Universal Studios instead of getting a new park, but whatcha gonna do?
